Hey, I've repaired about 8-9 of these just this year. If you want it fixed let me know, I can even give it more power. The T500 is pretty much the same as a early Fanatec CSL Elite on the inside. You can even swap the motor from the CSL over to a T500. But, if you just want it fixed let me know. Really shouldn't cost that much either. Just don't throw the wheel out whatever you do, and if you don't wanna fool with it I'll buy it from you.

I was looking into the Accuforce but I then saw that if are up for a bit of assembly you can get a superior wheel at a lower cost and faster ship(Accuforce can take 6 months to build) by going for an OSW kit. I work on real cars and computers so assembly is nothing to me. It will take research as you can buy separate parts and put them together or go for a kit. Then pedals will be another thing worth investing it. It will basically run more than $1,000 for a good wheel and again more than $1,000 for a good pedal set. Thats a common problem with switchmode power supplies (sorry if someone has already commented this) If you can get another power supply, it will all work perfectly fine. But why would the LED on the power supply fade out then? Either the wheel would have a protection, then the PSU would not be affected at all, or it would smell bad, smoke etc. Well.. there is a chance, that the short would let just enough power through to bring the PSU to its limits but not enough to burn the traces on the inside, which would be a huge plus for the T500s design. But i feel like it could also be the PSU, being unable to provide enough power to the wheel. The circumstances when breaking also would point to a bad cap in the PSU, i think.
@veckia5 жыл бұрын
@@JanJanJanJanJanJanJanJanJan2 not every design have protections against common eletrical issues like a short circuit, and not every damaged component smoke or smells bad nowadays... your computer's cpu or smartphone cpu is one of those things, they just fry and stop working like a fuse. I'm explaining this in a very simple way, there's a lot more to it.
@francescogugliuzza38275 жыл бұрын
@@JanJanJanJanJanJanJanJanJan2 a shorted switching psu does that, because the internal circuit has a "kickstart" section and then usually runs off the feedback winding of the transformer. If the output is shorted, not enough voltage builds up on the feedback winding and the circuit shuts down, only to be "waken up" again by the kickstart section. It also works as a crude short circuit protection.

It might not be. If you contact Thrustmaster, they can help. My T500RS died a couple of years ago, it turns out that the power logic board inside died. Thrustmaster were pretty certain what the issue was, and duly sent out a replacement power logic board (about £70), and instructions on how to replace the board. Some soldering may be required, but it was a simple fix, I had never even soldered before, and I managed to do it. However, MY T500RS has died again recently. I had a particularly bad crash in R3E, on the transition from Nurburgring circuit to the Nordschleife, car flipped and everything, and the wheel just went dead. i remembered when I did the soldering a couple of years ago, that I was a little sketchy, so I am hoping that all I will have to do is re-solder a connection and everything is alright.
