Good morning Nanny. Agree with you💯. So good to listen to our bodies. My husband of 57 years and I hold hands and say a prayer every night before bed and I put some wonderful smelling anointing oil on myself. This helps me sleep. You made me tear up talking about our Lord and Savior. We will never meet here on this earth but as spirits in Heaven we will definitely be looking for you both. God bless you for all you do to make this world a better place. Your world is a little slice of Heaven for us all.🙏🥰🌷💐🌹🥀

Hi it is Annie from Australia it's amazing you both been married 63yrs and I am 64 going on 65 yrs of age so you have been married most of my life that sounds amazing. You are such an inspiration to me and you always put a smile in my heart too. Seeing how much you all love each other is a bonus. My life is very quite I still have not seen my daughter 45yrs old and her three children for the last 9-10yrs it has been heart breaking really has it is her second huby that has stopped all contact etc not sure what he has over her as she used to me so close to me before?? I had heart failure about 10yrs ago just after this started with her as not knowing if she and grand kids were ok it just breaks the heart. Well on 5 heart meds since the left ventrical problem and currently my heart capacity is only 34% function it should be higher like 60 or so and I feel tired a lot and short breathe etc the side effects of meds make this more so, I get very depressed as used to walk 10km a day before all this and had lots more energy etc I wish I could get back to that, The stress and worry and anxiety have been a heavy load and I try to let go and relax if I can easier said than done, but I keep busy with hobbies etc.I do pray and meditate a bit do some mild exercise etc but like you do not get those 8hrs of sleep they recommend I get about 4-5 hr total and am up n down all night if not the bathroom then with panic anxiety wake up gasping for breathe at times and often have odd dreams etc I doze of at tv and computer during the day a lot and it is bothersome....never done that ever before till now. Lately I even fell asleep standing up while making a hot drink that scared me as the dog jumped up to wake me sweet dog cares so much for me and the two cats too they jump up on me when I doze of at tv or computer too. But lately I have been walking around awake one moment and asleep the next bit like sleep walking did tell local family doctor but he ignored it, I think it is to do with my low heart function n lack of sleep etc maybe lack of nutrients as been low in Iron etc taking supplements thou and that protein powder you recommended and skin hair and nails are stronger, God bless you all.

My motivation is that I live alone and if I don't do it, nobody's going to. I have lots of land and take care of it by myself - take care of all the upkeep on my home pretty much by myself. Some days I just can't do it, and some I have to force myself, but it all gets done, at a little slower pace now, but it gets done. Moving your body is the key - if you don't move it - you lose it

You are amazingly intuitive and your spirit just shines through. I have gone to speaking out loud, my gratitude journal daily when I walk. My love of 55 years asked me…..”And then where does it go if not in a journal?” I just answered, …It goes into the cloud! Humor helps so very much as we celebrate more birthdays. Like you, my backyard is my sanity and my sanctuary. I used to have my morning coffee with the news, but now I will have it with the birds. A much nicer way to begin my day. Love & good health to you and Moosie. Keep on keepin on……however it is best for us!🙏❤

He said for him to get up early and let it shine on his face and he told him to squint.😊 He said something about his internal clock. My aunt told me to walk barefoot sometimes. She says it grounds us. I think it feels good. i even stepped outside in the winter in my bare feet😅 It was exhilarating 😊

Good morning Nanny. I just spent over an hour writing two long comments to you. I touched something and everything was erased. Right now I am very frustrated. I enjoyed today’s video very much because you showed everyone yourself, just as you are. I like seeing you without make up, in your jammies, and just talking to your friends. It is nice to see you with your make up, your hair done, and all dressed up with your beautiful jewelry, however sometimes it is nice to see you as we see ourselves. Sleep… Oh, what an issue! I call it nighttime napping. Awake, asleep, awake, asleep, all night long. I am a big believer in daytime naps. I find that if I am exhausted at night, I don’t sleep at all. If I take a daytime nap, I sleep better at night. As for boredom, I don’t know that I have ever been bored in my life. As a child, of course there was school and homework. Then I had hobbies. I always had things to do. I guess I am a very curious person and I love to learn. In a few weeks, I will be participating in a three day online class event. I do this twice a year. I have the preparations for it and then afterwards I have the things that I learned to work on. I am a big believer in pets. They bring us laughter and joy and love. My fur baby is always by my side. I am in constant pain and recently my health has been declining. But I have never been one to give into things. I push through, the tough times. In the mornings, I take my dog out, feed the birds and the squirrel and water my plants. That gets my body moving about as much as it can. I no longer drive and that is a huge challenge for me. Also, the lack of socialization. When you become limited in your mobility and sick, people, don’t want to be around you. You find out who your friends are. You know the old saying, “fair weather friends”. I used to volunteer at my local Senior Center. We did things with children from the local school. I love children and seeing things through their eyes brings a whole new outlook on life. I used to read to them and do a little events with them. We even made small Jars from clay. There are so many things to do for those of you who are still mobile. Our spiritual outlook is of the upmost importance. Prayer can be so comforting. I have cried through many conversations with God. My mother always said don’t question Him. That is one rule I find hard to follow sometimes. I do have a question for you. It is about technology. When the pandemic shut down occurred I begin sending out morning messages to all of my friends. I continue to do so. It is time consuming. Then there are the emails. I would love to get a personal email , however, I get ads and things that I have no idea where they come from. I am constantly swiping left and unsubscribing. This is very time consuming! I wonder how to shorten this, so that I am not spending time doing something that I really don’t enjoy. Well, I wish that I had not lost the other two letters, however, I have tried to begin again. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon.
@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose Жыл бұрын
I so admire your fortitude , Sharon…to keep your spirits up despite constant pain and infrequent socialization…but you are right…nature, pets and the birds, flowers and the sunshine,e do help! I get totally overwhelmed with technology, too, Sharon…and I am going to have my techy granddaughter Ryan, help me out when she comes home from college in the summer. I am way behind on “clearing” out old mail, ads and stuff on my iPad…and my phone is a mess…delete ,I’ve discovered , doesn’t really rid the device of junk ….and how about those ‘scams”…they’re so confusing! insurance,Netflix expiring threats etc…they’re all fake! I am told they prey on the elderly! talk soon…❤️🙏

Nanny, you are speaking the truth about aging. I call it….work a little, sit a little….. arthritis dies steal our vigor, but we must keep moving. I do not enjoy shopping anymore. I usually do our big shop on line at Walmart, and just pick it up. I reserve my energy for my day to day life, and doing things for my family and husband. Keeping up with laundry, kitchen chores, cooking, cleaning, looking presentable, and all the other day to day takes a lot now. I really enjoyed your realistic view of how it really is. I think we fight reality often and get down on ourselves because our minds want to do more than our bodies will allow. Adding caregiver to the mix is an added energy drainer. But, it keeps me going. Love you and Moosie….I hope we are having this same conversation on your 95th year…and Moosie will be in the garden painting…..hugs judy

One suggestion I have started doing is working for 30-40 minutes then resting with something to hydrate me for 20-30 minutes. It may seem like a waste of time by resting but over the long haul things get done and I see progress which makes me feel better. Science is proving that just seeing accomplishments releases hormones in our bodies that do make us feel better and lessens the aches and pains.

Dr.'s always say "everyone is different." Yes But! You help so much, even understanding people who live with chronic pain and some disability. I do. But loving to do projects I try and try. I use the word INTEND instead of TRY. I am painting my tiny bathroom. Washing the walls and baseboards, getting up and down a ladder is very exhausting, quickly! But, as you say, a little at a time! Go too far and I'm laid up for a couple days. But then, up and at 'em again. Satisfaction brings me back! No denials just acceptance. I am Queen of denial. Cleopatra. Love you Nanny and Moosie! Heart 💓 to ❤️ heart with Nanny 😊. Yes, a Q/A sounds like a great idea! We all have times when we feel a false guilt. Expectations put on us from others but not realistic nor are they always true. Always so grateful for your videos, we need your advice from your experiences and not to be so hard on ourselves.❤

Watching this 8/4/24. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. You are refreshingly honest. I feel a little guilty lying down during the day, but I'm working toward a guilt free nap. I've come to accept the fact that I can't do what I used to. My strength and stamina aren't what they were. I set a timer when I go outside to do whatever and when it goes off, I stop. I've learned when I go too far I get physically sick, so the timer reminds me I've had enough even when I feel I could go on. We just have to do things at a different pace and find forgiveness for ourself without guilt. Like you, I thank the Lord for all I have been given. We are blessed to be living out our golden years.

Hi Nanny, I found you last night and I couldn’t wait to see you again today. My background: I cared for my beautiful husband through cancer and dementia 9/years until he went home. I moved back to my hometown to have my mom live with me, the next year she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 86 and suffered for 5 years…passed last year. So I understand caretaking and i honor you and Moosey and see such great love. I could go on, but I am now at 73 am alone. I connected with everything you discussed in this video…it has encouraged me knowing I might be on the right track. You and your faith are beautiful..really beautiful. I believe God guided me to you and I am grateful. I wish I could share a cup of coffee with you in the morning 😊 as I love birds, prayer and quiet. Anyway, im blabbering..thank you and it is a blessing to know you. Thank you for sharing your and Mooseys life. Over and out ❤

Wonderful video. I was a caregiver for my husband. I was younger and worked every day. It wasn't always easy but with God's help we made it thru. My husband has been gone 13 yrs.. You and Moose embrace everyday you have together. I would love a Q&A with you. You are an inspiration to so many people. God bless you and Moose. I love you both❤❤

I had to laugh because it was like looking in a mirror I'm 84 live alone and the way you think and live is exactly me. I pace myself. I'm in tune with my body. What isn't done today can wait till tomorrow. My 3 dogs are the only ones who depend on me. I ask God to please let me out live them and I will die content. He has always been good to me ❤

I just discovered you and I love you! Your sincerity and authenticity is so refreshing. You look beautiful today. The red plaid shirt is so attractive! You look great both with & without your glasses. Six kids! Holy cow! I’ve just turned 77 and for the first time I feel the aging. Always been energetic, like you, tennis, swimming etc. and being fearless! The body has so changed-can’t do it all. Even grocery shopping is exhausting also. Thank you too! Tell me what product do you use to get the “glow” on your face that you spoke of. Also what can I do to get rid of eye bags? ❤

Another very important video Nanny - very sage advice and observations. Your area outside with the birds, plants, flowers, and precious cats is utopia - you deserve that. You are so right - we have to listen to our own bodies - I've said for years - Whitney H had it right - "learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all " and we have to respect and love ourselves and care for ourselves, so we can be the best version of ourselves and then we can go forth and be that great friend, partner, work colleague, citizen .... I have started to take Chia seeds - natures wonder food - have you heard about the benefits Nanny - I just put in a glass of pure juice for 15 mins to let them expand - then it's a wonderful nutritious drink - I cannot believe the benefits in so many areas from these wonders - Anyhow thanks for your honesty, vivacity and general good cheer Nanny= stay fabulous - love Jas xx

Thank you for your truths. I wake each morning and say “thank you, dear lord, dear goddess, for giving me another day! This week I turn 82 and your wisdom guides me toward more days through both the tough days and the easy-peasy days. Never know which I will wake up to but still… I have gratitude for them all. May it hold…

Oh yippee a new Nanny video - going to settle down now and watch this- it is coming up to 3pm here on a Sat afternoon - I've been out and about since 11 am on a local road that has all the great cafes, restaurants, fruit & veg and other great local food stores. I am home and the bone broth (from a ham shank) is now being transformed into lentil soup. Nanny I am sure you know all about bone broth - our ancestors had it right and I cannot believe the benefits you get from it- they call it nature's own multi vitamin - and you get collagen from it - and I love it anyway - hope this finds you well Nanny. Love Jas xx

Good morning! I’m almost through watching and I want to comment on the “crashing”advice: there have been many studies stating that we mature people benefit substantially from an afternoon nap to recharge our bodies. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been gardening…cooking…sitting in a chair reading…cleaning….IT DOES NOT MATTER… we should all be taking a “recharging” nap DAILY. If you’re out for the whole day…yay for you…you should just plop down for 20-30 minutes and just relax….and if you fall asleep, even better. I do this daily and it really and truly works. Just an FYI….XOXO

Nanny, you are such a wonderful example of truly living life your way and enjoying your life with the ups and downs that come along. Please don’t ever think you are not a good role model for us “aging generation”! At 73 I can only hope I have your energy when I reach my 80’s!! Thank you so so much for sharing your life with us. Sending lots of hugs!! ❤️🥰
