You came up with a really interesting list. I've never even *heard* of any of these except for Live Girls (which I'm a big fan of)! And I'm from the 80s generation and a huge horror fan.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that I could introduce a fellow horror fan to some new stuff! If you ever check any of them out, I hope you don't think they suck.

Have you checked out "Paperbacks From Hell"? It is a book about all the great paperbacks in horror, their covers and brief summary of the book and the reasons they attack us... It's a great book.

Great list! I've only read 1 McDowell novel (Blackwater part 1) and I absolutely loved it! If only his books were easier to find!
@BadTasteBooks3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! If I still had these I would send them your way. I don't. I've been wanting to read Blackwater so bad, but only have part 1, and wanted to find them all first. BTW your channel looks awesome. You've got my sub.

Rockin that Braindead shirt to! I was happy to see some books that I own but haven't read yet on this list. I'm going to have to read them just to tell you your wrong. ha! I originally had a RJJ on my list also but when I double checked the date, it was from the 90s.
@BadTasteBooks4 ай бұрын
Haha, I had to keep the Dead Alive references going. Also, being told I'm wrong is my favorite, please do!

If you liked Katie, you would probably also like Gilded Needles by Micheal McDowell. That one is a bit closer to thriller than horror so it wouldn't be viable for your lists, but it's set in New York in the 1880s and there is a lot of murder
@BadTasteBooks16 күн бұрын
I would love to read everything McDowell wrote. Don't have that one in the collection yet though. Some day! Thanks for the recommendation!

The '80s horror paperbacks always had the best covers. They don't make them like that anymore.
@BadTasteBooks3 ай бұрын
Absolutely. All book genres would benefit from bringing back original painted artwork for the covers.

Some interesting titles there! I only read the Elementals, but Live Girls looked very interesting. Plus Katie.

Interesting list! How long are these books? The horrors I pick up like these are usually pretty short - approx. 150-250 pages.
@BadTasteBooks3 ай бұрын
That's about the length of these. In the 80s horror boom though, it was typical for publishers to ask authors to turn in "doorstopper" books of 500 or 600 pages to try to be like the popular Stephen King books of the time. Authors would often write a bunch of filler to make their required page count.
@DrL_Reads3 ай бұрын
@@BadTasteBooks I probably wouldn’t get 600 page horrors at this point. But maybe someday. I like the short ones.
@BadTasteBooks3 ай бұрын
@@DrL_Reads short horror is better for sure.

Fun list! Also anyone who tells you that they're qualified is completely full of it. Like there aren't a million books in every single genre that even the most well read has never even heard of. That being said I get it, I want to do this but I'm intimidated LOL.
