Big fan of Ruby Jean Jensen here. I've read all of her horror and two of her gothics. I would say two to look for are THE RECKONING and WAIT AND SEE. I did like THE LIVING EVIL and would put it up with ANNABELLE and BABY DOLLY as the best of the doll themed novels.

As someone who genuinely does not enjoy extreme horror, I thought Survivor was superb. I really loved that a lot of the extreme parts were more implied rather than explained. I thought it was brilliant how Gonzalez portrayed through the emotions and body language of the characters instead of going for the gross out. The Road is one of my favorite takes on the end of the world. It's brutal, real, and very well paced. The Ruins is in my top ten horrors of all time. I loved the slow build and isolating atmosphere. The constant feeling of paranoia and hopelessness was so engaging and I LOVED the ending. Great video, man! I always rave about how awesome the 80's and 90's were for horror, but I'll have to start digging into the 00's now!
@BadTasteBooks9 күн бұрын
I agree. Extreme horror usually isn't my thing either. But something about that book really worked for me. I think you explained it better than I could! And yeah, the Ruins is such a superb piece of fiction! I love the 80s and 90s horror as well! But the 2000s was some of the first horror I got into, so it holds a special place for me. And there really was some great stuff in that decade! And thanks man! Big fan of your videos. Your hauls are always so insane! Thanks for watching!
