I love that semi water fall on the Nord electro 6d its smooth as butter!!!!! My hands never get cramped no matter how long I play. The worst keybed to me is the Yamaha mx61 it feels toyish.

love it . first! im picking up a korg trinity pro X 88 soon for cheap. sounds like a windows 95 video game! but its got the early motif keybeds :) A88 K6

For me the Montage is the best overall, budget wise the MODX is the best for its price, you’d just have to get used to the keybed. A Roland RD2000 is nice as well

my Korg sp200 also feels great for me I haven't played as many keyboards but I do agree with most on the list

Rev Andrew, have you had a chance to play other Roland and Korg keyboards like the new Roland Fantom-0 (PHA-4 action), Roland FA-08 (Ivory G), Korg Kronos/Nautilus (RH3)? Any thoughts on keybeds you have played?

I actually haven't been able to play any of these besides the Kronos and I don't love that keybed. Hopefully I can play the others soon

I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of years now. The keybed for mains are serious and playing all of them I honestly would rate it almost the same. I’ve owned the es8, moxf8, montage 8, modx8. In my opinion I’d say at this point that the es8 bed is my favorite. I wish the es8 had the montage interface and the ability add extra samples and have that extra space without having to add RAM. With that being said I don’t care for modx keybed at all lol I returned mine almost having it for only days because of the feel.The classic mo’s just feel different and I feel like they kinda went away from that but of course made the interface better being one of the pros but also making it hard to justify some of the different models as upgrades in regards to key bed. I haven’t got a chance to play the Nord grand but now I want to lol

I completely agree with you, the ES8's keybed is really great, I have one at home. I added RAM to it but I wish you didn't have to and I wish the sounds could stay on there once you added them, but it's older so I get it. I had a MODX before and also hated the keybed. Everything else was great besides the polyphony. If the MODX had the MO8 keybed it would be soooo much better, but then no one would buy the Montage lol and they know that, so marketing wise I get it lol

@@AndrewMcKain man I tried to upgrade so many times and the modx sounds good until you start to play and notice small things like the main volume being a knob and away from the other faders and issues with polyphony like you said lol yeah they know what they doing. I had hope to use it a travel board and replace my moxf8 but it had so many deal breakers for me so I couldn’t do it. My montage stays home until I have a need for particular sounds and I keep my es8 at church but I haven’t ran into anything that makes say I’ll upgrade and it be worth it.

I'm with you on the Roland 2000 and Yamaha es90, but the best keybed value for the best price, is the Korg D1@ $699..and is identical to the RH3 keybed of the top of the line $4,000+ Korg Kronos. There is no greater keyboard feel and value available at this price.

I just ordered it..I.didn't want to spend the big bucks for the Kronos when it was available..now I get the keyboard with a few usable sounds. Basically I'm buying it to use as a premium controller for my Ravenscroft, Ivory II, and Pianoteq softsynths

I personally don’t like the feel on that keyboard, it’s a little too light for me. I do know some people that like it, it’s really a matter of preference

I prefer the S90ES over all the motifs, montage but agree with the Cp88 and Nord Grand. but they are so close that is a matter of preference like when You mention the MO8. One of the best keybeds You didn't mention is the Roland Fantom 8 which I felt better than the RD2000 but very similar.

I definitely agree, it really is a matter of preference. I did consider putting the old Fantom on here and the new one was close as well but I feel like I like the ones I listed a little better

@@AndrewMcKain Yeah I''d say Yamaha CP88 and Roland RD2000 over Stage 3 keybed as well. The Nord Grand is only their best one cause it uses the Kawaii action.
