@@tabletoptokki I really appreciate that you share these boardgaming gems with all of us. My favorite game this year is definitely Railroad Ink. It has become a daily routine for me to play at least a game or two of it (most of the time deep blue or lush green edition) and I can't wait to try out all the expansion packs. I also enjoy Aeon's End, Under Falling Skies, Cartographers and One Deck Dungeon: Forest of Shadows. Because of your helpful and entertaining videos I already preordered the reprints of Set A Watch, Lux Aeterna and Village Green (all three games are currently sold out in my country) and will definitely back the crowdfunding campaign for a translated version of Capital Lux 2 Generations. Thanks again! I look forward to many more videos from you :)

Great list, I already got a few games you recommended (because of your recommendations also): Orchard, Village Green and Capital Lux 2 and I'm loving them so far. The last one I've still to try but read the rulebook and I'm very intrigued. Can't wait to try it out soon. As my pick I'd say you have to try Spirit Island if you haven't tried it out yet. Quite a heavy and brain burning game, so it might not suit you, but it's by far my favorite game I've played to date and every time I play I'm blown away. Takes a few plays to get a handle on it but when it clicks there no way back.
@tabletoptokki3 жыл бұрын
Haven't got to play it as much as I'd like since my solo board game time is limited, but I do love Spirit Island! Have played it a few times with friends, but a lot of my friends prefer competitive modes. I'd imagine that once I get a sense of each individual spirit, trying to play two spirits at once solo will be an awesome time! Do you have any recommendations for spirits that combo well together??? :)
@MichaliSarris3 жыл бұрын
@@tabletoptokki Happy to hear you love Spirit Island too! When I play it solo I always play dual Spirit, then you can match up ones to try how the combination works and it's very fun (and sometimes a bit stressful but I like that in this game). A few combinations that I like are Vital Strength which can spread a lot of defense around the island and Thunderspeaker which can move Dahan easily to maximize returned attacks from Dahan to the invaders on defended lands. Ocean who has a very strong control over Coastal lands combined with Lure of The Deep Wilderness, who's the same but for inlands. Then Shifting Memory of Ages together with Volcano Looming High, Keeper of the Forbidden Wilds together with Many Minds Move as One, and going for a fear victory with Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares together with Shroud of Silent Mist. Lots of cool things to explore, I try to keep raising the difficulty level of the adversaries and it gets more fun (and tense) with the close call victories or defeats. The other day I had a fear victory with no invader card left and only one blight on the blight card. I think I cleared 3 fear cards in the last turn, when all game I had the feeling it was going to be impossible to win (due to the perfect storm in starting conditions for the invaders).
@tabletoptokki3 жыл бұрын
Oh man, this is awesome!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share, as it'll definitely give me a good place to start off with for combo-ing spirits. :DDDD And geeeeez that sounds like a close call! 😅

I love unearth but shame on me....didn't knew about the expansion. Your number 1 sounds really interesting

The expansion is just all around excellent & with a low price, I feel it's a must if you're a fan of the base game! 🥰

Sagrada is so hard solo. I really like Roll Player, especially with the monsters and minions expansion.

Yes! Sagrada is a suprisingly welcome solo challenge. :)

Not into zombie games but Hit Z Road looks charming! Thanks for the list.

Yeah, Hit Z Road is a really cool departure from the typical mold & it's one of my most endearing games; which is a "category" of games I didn't even know existed in my brain... until right now! haha ^^

If I remember correctly there is a very small Rollplayer Expansion in Cartographers.

I have the original Capital Lux, we play it at 2. Do you think CL2 is really worth getting if I already enjoy the original?
@tabletoptokki3 жыл бұрын
I own both and love having the versatility of CL 2 with the different player powers. For me, the tweaks to make the game solo-able and up to 5 with the expansion, really shine; though, if you're playing mostly just at 2, I can see things either way. ^^

I enjoyed your top 10 video @tikjo with some of your interesting picks. A question though: for those of us who have never played Capital Lux or Capital Lux 2 would you recommend both or does the new version "replace" the original?
@tabletoptokki2 жыл бұрын
The new version includes all the original content & much more! The only thing you're missing is the original graphic design/ art, but no gameplay! 🤗

Any chance of a Solo Gameplay of Unearth? So little love to the game, and cant find any solo gameplay anywere T,T

Absolutely! It's one on the list, so it'll be featured here one of these days. :)

Evaluation before I watch your last 2 games... with questions btw. You are indeed encompassed into game play mechanics. You are young relatively if you speak of Unearth as an old game that you still bring out. With your knowledge of game mechanics would you please play and review older games that you do/not enjoy and how you would make them better? Pretty please. Stay honest and deliver it as cruel as you see it. One of the problems I see today with game mechanics is... cough couch; I think I may have the covid. Evolution does not have to happen is a relative state of mind starts at any point (my opinion).

Absolutely! Since I'm just starting out, my main focus is on sharing really stellar games that haven't had as big of a spotlight shown on them. With the time it takes to make each video and the number of amazing games out there, I enjoy getting the word out about games that deserve more love and I'll leave the rest to the pros. I'm sure in due time I'll make my way through that list towards games that may have some areas for improvement, but I think we're a ways away. (good problem to have 😅) Always down to chat games if there are any you'd like to hear/share opinions about though!

Do you need the original Capital Lux to get 2?
@tabletoptokki3 жыл бұрын
Nope! Capital Lux 2: Generations includes all of the original content of Capital Lux as well as a lot of new faction powers. :)

Nice list, not a fan of the BYOS soloing versions
@tabletoptokki3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the mechanics are the main focus for me, but it's definitely a bit disheartening when there isn't a clear "win" condition. Nova Luna was one I love and enjoy solo, but the lack of real "scoring" at the end prevented me from choosing it for this list. :x
@mabos5553 жыл бұрын
For me it's the other way, I feel that solo for scoring and just improving yourself from game to game is just like doing a test over and over again to get to 100, and then what? Nothing happens :) For me the main focus is if I can add or remove something and the game will be changed entirely and mission based like the games of superhot, any oniverse game, micro city, after the virus, hero realms etc :)
@tabletoptokki3 жыл бұрын
@@mabos555 Ah the Oniverse games are great like that! All the mini expansions add so much flavor & the fact that you can combine any or all of them is really great! I have Micro City on my shelf of shame currently... really have to get around to playing that one.... :D
