My Top 10 Movies Of 2020

Great list mate. I didn’t include the ones which where released in 2019 US so things like dark water and JoJo are on not on my 2020 so our lists where a bit different. Every film you talked about I loved as well. Ma Rainey’s black bottom was a great film. One thing I do disagree with a lot here tho is what you said about the music in Soul. Personally I think they did an incredible job. They had two different composers. One for when we was in the real world then one for the soul world. All the real world stuff had a heavy jazz preset throughout it which I loved then the soul was more synthesizer which I thought fitted that world a lot better. Great list tho man

Hi mate, great list, been looking forward to this one. I rank films when they make their first major debut so you’ll find films like jojo rabbit, parasite etc in my 2019 list. Plus it links in well with awards season. And I must say, surprised parasite didn’t make the cut. Glad you mentioned dark waters which was great. Ma Rainey’s Black bottom didn’t strike a chord with me. Thought the acting was incredible especially from the late Chadwick Boseman but for a film I didn’t care for it much. Hopefully you’ll have time during this lockdown to make more videos and hopefully a collaboration! Take care mate, all the best, stay safe

Hi Good selection 👍🏻given the year film fans have had with so many pushed into 2021. Agree Dark Water was good but I rated the performances in Spotlight higher. And totally agree with thoughts on Soul (did it go too deep with the message) - favourite Pixar is Coco and Soul didn’t give the same emotional connection. I’ve done my My Top 5 watched during last year as: 5) Onward 4) Greed (makes you come away thinking 🤔) 3) The Chorus (it’s from 2004 but only watched in 2020 - stars Gerard Jugnot & has one of the best “making of” dvd extras I’ve ever seen) 2) The King (Netflix) 1) JoJo Rabbit 🐇 - watched on 1st Jan - little knowing that would be one of the few cinema trips of the year. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 we can come out of the current lockdown for a 2021 of blockbuster films 😃🎬 #staysafe

A lot of these were on my 2019 list, as you can imagine, living in the US. But no doubt they are all really solid films. While I'd personally shake up your list a little bit as I wasn't huge on The Lighthouse, I can't deny that I'm in the minority on that. Most everyone I know loved it. You can find my top 10 for the past 2 years on Letterboxd so I wont bore you with listing them here, but we do share a lot of the same films which is great. As always a very entertaining video. Sorry to hear about the UK lockdown again. I hope you can ride it out, stay healthy and make the most of it. Really hoping soon we can all get back to normal life. Hang in there! All great films except for Ma Raineys Black Bottom which I thought was boring and just didn't like and couldn't even understand what they were saying for half of the film
