I rate Jake E Lee very high. As hard as it is to admit to myself, I like Jake's work better than Rhoad's. Randy was the better classical player without a doubt but Jake has the most interesting riffs and melodies.

Always enjoy some Jake E Lee love AND your collection of Charvel guitars. The Ultimate Ozzy video introduced me to Jake in the mid-80's and I agree with you that he does a great job with Randy's songs giving them his own touch. His version of Mr Crowley is beautiful!! I finally got to see Jake live when he toured with Red Dragon Cartel and didn't disappoint. Thanks for your great videos!

Trent Berry I found out how to do it by accident really after a lot of listening. It took me ages. Jake E Lee should be everyone’s favorite guitarist bc seriously. If you play and know your guitar-playing and listen to his work with Ozzy (NO disrespect to Randy, Jake was born only a year after Randy... so keep in mind, we lost Randy at 25, Jake had many more years to grow his skills past Randy’s, at 25 Randy was better). Now watch Jakes work on BATM tour and ultimate sin tour. He was disgusting. Try playing his songs. Secret Loser solo, Shot in the dark, whammy bar work, his guitar solo on tour etc. Jake is in my top5 personally all time and he deserves it

I would probably leave out Let Me Hear You Scream, I do like it but I think there is better for my top 10. I’d leave out You Said It All as I’m not very familiar with it but I did really like your version of it. I would replace them with Diary of a Mad Man heavy riff just before it goes into the main solo, after the interlude section and the main riff from Desire, what do you think? These might not be the most technical riffs but they are just really good to play that why I would need to include them. Keep up the good work Cam

Nice video, I actually hadn't heard a good amount of these before. I also gotta shill for a band while I'm here. Since you're clearly a huge fan of Jake E. Lee era Ozzy, you really have got to check out Sumerlands. They released their debut album last year, and it's got a lot in common with that stuff, especially in the guitar work, but it's even darker, and also has some pretty clear influence from Judas Priest and some of the more obscure American heavy metal bands of the time. Check em out, you'll love it.

Hi Cameron. Sitting in the train to work (not in Mr. Tinkertrain's 😃) and listening to your great sound. Question about pinch harmonics: is it important to have a lot of gain and chorus to do pinch harmonics and to sound like Zakk's pinch harmonics? I can do some but they are not so screamy like yours 🤘 Cheers from switzerland
@CameronCooper6 жыл бұрын
Runnershigh75 Hi there. Thank you very much for the comment. The trick with the harmonics is surprisingly in the vibrato. If you use too much gain it can kill the harmonic sensitivity of the guitar and it can be really hard. Chorus doesn't usually make it easier to get harmonics because they're usually found in the tonal qualities of the guitar as opposed to what you're running it through. I hope that helps :)

after being a van halen fan i am of course an ozzy osbourne fan ... and that rockn'roll rebel belongs to my favs song , with all the others of course . as i saw you like a lot jake e lee more than zakk or randy . you tend to play ozzy songs as jake e lee was doing ... not a lot remember him as he deserve . even his solo career with badlands was cool and live he was so full of notes and power . i am sad cause i saw him playing lately and he's far from his real old standards . btw cameron ... great video as alway and great playing ... pkus an amazing sound that maybe not knows but is build with simple instruments and effects ... you defenetely rock :)
@CameronCooper6 жыл бұрын
BlackWolfgang70 That's really kind of you thank you so much. I have always loved Jakes playing because it was so different and unorthodox. I also like how musical his playing was although it wasn't the smoothest. I understand that a lot of fans glorify Randy and Zakk and rightfully so but my two favourite Ozzy Guitarists are probably Jake E Lee and Gus G. I guess I like the players that aren't recognised quite the same and are different.
@BlackWolfgang706 жыл бұрын
yep i am with you with all this .... even Gus G is a really good player . What i like the most of him is that he's a down to heart guy , really a simple guy and ... his "sound" , he made his blackstar amps sound so great . about jake e lee now with youtube can watch almost everything but when i was a kid in the 80s and i had my first vhs tape of the us 1983 festival and jeez i wasa 10 years old kid ... you know when i saw jake e lee playing mr.crowly and and all the ozzy set i was out of mind ... the acting on stage , the playing ... everything was so perfect . And i am so happy that even now after 30 years the new kids that starts to play guitar watch to the same videos with the same feeling i had . after long years of grunge and new metal i am happy to see the hard rock scene to come back ... keep on rocking cameron !! :)

@CameronCooper6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thank you very much for your comment. I actually don't use tabs. I always learn things by ear or very occasionally watch a live video to confirm if I was learning something correctly. When I learn things. I dissect it one note at a time and then work on the technique later on. I never tend to use tab because it doesn't detect certain qualities in the playing, things that only your ears can hear. Your best tool is your ears, try not to depend too much on tabs because you can't hear what you're learning so to speak. I hope that helps.
