My dad was obsessed with steam trains and when he retired used keep himself busy by helping out at a number of preservation societies, he spent several months helping a friend called Peter renovate an old Black 5 steam engine in Southport on Merseyside. As I didn't share my dad's obsession I didn't know any of his train friends until one weekend when I had to pick him, turns out his mate Peter was actually Pete Waterman.

Thank you for this compilation. So loved all the hits by SAW in the 80’s and 90’s. They’re undoubtedly UK’s biggest hit machine. Donna Summer became popular again because of them. Her album “Another Place And Time” by SAW was full of hits. Then we had Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Bananarama, Sonia, etc etc, so many artists had hits written by them. Apart from Euro Disco, SAW defined the sound of dance hits during that period.

Good list ... and the right #1 Donna Summer ... She is the queen of Disco. But, I miss one song under the 100 Edwin Starr with Whatever makes your love grow Many many of these songs are sleeping as 12inches in my record boxes. It‘s the right time to put the needle back to these records. Thanks for bringing back all the good and little less bad memories. In my mind I see all the nice girls dancing on the dance floors to most of this songs. Stay safe. Greetings from Bavaria

Fantastic list! Of course we will all have personal favourites. So happy with #1 and #2 for sure, but would have placed Kylie's "Better the Devil You Know" in the Top 10 and Bananarama's "Love in the First Degree", "Venus" and "I Heard a Rumour" in there too. Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" probably needs to be way higher, as does Mel & Kim's "Respectable", and probably one or two more from Kylie. Happy to have seen some non-releases too, like Kylie's "Always Find the Time", but would've thrown in Kylie's "Things Can Only Get Better" too. Why those two were never released as singles is beyond me! There are also a number of notable hits missing too. Where on earth was Hazell Dean's "They Say It's Gonna Rain"? While perhaps not massive in the UK, it was HUGE in Scandinavia and South Africa and other parts of the world. And what about Steps' "Tragedy" under the PWL label?

What a GREAT idea for a video! Well done!! My personal favourite is always going to be PRINCESS. Her debut album is fantastic. SAW once said how much they loved working with her and they had plans to record other albums. The problem is that her brother got involved, tried to turn her into a female Prince (to adjust to the stage name!), but the sexy image didn't really suit her. Plus, the new songs were dull. Years later, SAW said they'd still love to work with her. Too bad it never happened.
