I have left todoist and come back to it a couple of times. It is simple and does exactly what it needs to do. I wont be going away from it again

Love your videos. My challenge is that work use office 365 but I am an apple fan and use an iPhone and iPad too. What’s a good task manager across both. I use apple reminders because I use Siri allot so need something with Siri Shortcuts. Any suggestions?
@Carl_Pullein Жыл бұрын
There are a lot of potential task managers that will work across both. I'm only familiar with Todoist and its approach to Shortcuts, and that works very well. I'm sure there are others too.

No surprise about your #1. 😂 Todoist is my main one too. I also use Reminders for my routines and Microsoft To Do (on my Android device) for my shopping list.
@Carl_Pullein2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Sounds like you have good clean edges between these.

Good choices Carl. I'm just a little curious why you never talked about Things 3, which is very simples and minimalist. I really like Todoist and the company behind Todoist (Doist) but after trying Things 3 my todo list became simpler to manage.

Things 3 is a great app. No doubt about it. It would probably be on my list if I were doing five.

I've actually wondered this as well. I've used Todoist forever, but started to feel as though it actually did too much and added too much complexity for me. So I recently switched to Things 3 and I absolutely love it. It just makes task management so simple, which is critical for actually completing tasks.
@Abdullah-zl9ub Жыл бұрын
Guys why is things3 better? It’s so expensive for 3devices? What more does it provide over other apps?
@Abdullah-zl9ub Жыл бұрын
I’m always torn between reminders and Todoist. I used to use both and now merged into Todoist. I like the easy capturing and calendar integration but I hate the UI which make me wanna move to reminders. I did use labels and projects and priorities but honestly nothing helped. What’s your thoughts on this?
@Carl_Pullein Жыл бұрын
A question I ask myself is: what is more important? How pretty my task manager is or getting my work done". The answer to that question should guide you.

Carl, do you always use the browser app or (if available) a standalone app?

Always the standalone app when available.

Great video as usual. I like Apple reminders but recently switched to Todoist for a couple of reasons. The ability to set a due date for a recurring reminder based on completion not just weekly on a certain day. I can also set a due date that is separate from reminder dates. In Apple reminders you get as the name implies reminders but not a separate due date. For example a bill is due on the 31st but I want to be reminded to pay it on the 25th. Lastly because I can use it as a low level habit tracker using the activity log by project. I use this in a project I set up to track my workouts. We too use Reminders for our shopping list.

Good point. Dates with Reminders can be a bit limiting.

What about tracking high level goals for the year, I think you may have made a beginning of the year planning video Using Todoist but can’t find it. Things like: the various domains we all operate in : physical health, relationships, etc and then tracking underneath them what we will do about them each year

Like someone else commented, I am somewhat surprised that you never brought up Things 3. Things is probably one of the most simple yet powerful task managers out there.

It's a good app. But for some reason, it's never really connected with me.

My issue with Things 3 (as I’m sure is the case for many people) is that it’s for the Apple ecosystem only. While I do have an iPhone, I don’t have a Mac and never will because my work requires a Windows PC to run the needed software. Todoist, on the other hand, is ubiquitous, so I can access it from anywhere.
@becuz22 жыл бұрын
@@73cidalia Exactly! I am not in the Apple world, so Things 3 is not even an option. I use Todoist for just that reason.
@fullbellygod11 ай бұрын
I’m in the “Apple World,” and for me, Things3 is where it’s at. I’ve worked for companies that require Windows, so fine!as a work computer, just would never give up the Mac.

How does the board view in Todoist differ from your Asana setup? Could you duplicate what you do in Asana in Todoist? Also, why Asana over Trello?
@Carl_Pullein2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, as I said in the video, I find Trello a bit cluttered and in Todoist I cannot see the thumbnail designs without opening the task.

@@Carl_Pullein That's what I get for thinking of questions while I am watching instead of paying full attention.
@joaopellissari2 жыл бұрын
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but the workflow you showed in Asana is almost identical to the workflow you use between Todoist and Evernote for project management. At least to me, it's almost identical, each blog post or KZbin video would be a project inside Evernote containing tasks like "Finish the search on topic X" or "Review text from part z". Then inside Todoist you would have "continue working on blog post Y" with a link to your project's note. Am I right?

Ah, I made the decision a while ago not to do that because that's what everyone else does. I want to slow people down, and explain the context and reasons. I know not everyone will like that but the people who follow me, get the right results.
