I liked your comment about processed food. I have a bachelor's in nutrition and not once did any of my professors say "no processed food." Because we know that processed foods are sometimes peoples' only options and MOST of our food goes through processing! By touting that processed food is evil and bad we're inadvertently telling those who rely on it to live that they're bad. You make the choices that work for YOUR diet and everyone else will just have to deal with it!! Also, I put cottage cheese in my eggs before I scramble them!
@PlanningUsHealthy2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree!! There is so much misinformation out there. At one point, it was leading me toward orthorexia!! I had to reel it back in and now it's simply about moderation. You bet I enjoyed a cupcake for the 4th of July cookout! But that one cupcake will not trump all the nutritious foods I nourished my body with the rest of the day! :) Thanks so much! Cottage cheese in eggs is sooo good!!

When I eat quinoa, I roast veggies and turkey kielbasa on a sheet pan then add about 1/4 to 1/3 quinoa to a bowl with the veggies and sausage. It's a great combo and so good for you!

That's a great idea!!! That's so crazy you mentioned this because the meal prep I did last weekend (video should be up this coming Tuesday) was my sheet pan turkey kielbasa bowls and I ended up putting quinoa/rice mixture in the bottom!!! LOL

I enjoy your videos and they give me ideas on what to fix myself that won't be too unhealthy. I had breast cancer last year and with cancer recovery they want me to have lots more protein. The medication that I take makes me gain weight, so I try to keep calories low. The doctors want me to lose weight, but my dietician tells me maintaining is good. That means I'm not gaining. I'd like to lose and sometimes I do a little bit, but not enough. But seeing what I can have in your videos gives me some hope for the future. Thank you.
@PlanningUsHealthy Жыл бұрын
Aww...thanks so much for sharing your story!! You will definitely be in my prayers for continued strength and recovery!! Sounds like you have good support. Just in my personal opinion, I tend to listen to dieticians over my doctors simply because I dietician has a specialty in nutrition, but most physicians don't. With that being said though, I've not had cancer so I can't speak to that. I may tend more to listen to the doctor more in that case. But I do agree that at least you're not gaining. That's a good thing. And we need to keep in mind that the scale doesn't tell the whole story.

I love water but sometimes I just need it to be flavored. I do occasionally use sugar-free water enhancers like Crystal light. That said, last year I discovered something that really changes up my water. It's Cold Infusions tea. Different companies make them and they come in different flavors. They are all sugar-free but also contain no sugar substitutes, they are also caffeine free. You just pop a tea bag into your bottle of water and let it steep at least 15 minutes. Just last week I discovered cold brew iced tea that's unsweetened. I'm loving it. I can flavor it how I like and make it as sweet as I want.

@PlanningUsHealthy2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Anna, and welcome!! :) I lost about 50 pounds in 2019/2020, but then I ended up with Covid in 2020 and went through flares with my UC in 2021, so I gained back about 15. Then I purposely put my app in "maintain" throughout 2021 so I could focus on getting my UC back in remission. I have also been experimenting with several different foods and learning what my body wants and needs. (I am 50 years old and post-menopausal). I am back in lose mode on my app, but I'm focusing on health rather than weight loss (although this month I did see a good loss of 6 pounds so far). I only aim for 1/2 pound a week average so that my metabolism will build back up and so I'm getting the right combination of foods in for my gut health. Sorry that was so long but there's no way to give a short answer to it. 😊

I like your videos a lot and would watch, even if you weren’t doing WW because of your ideas. Thank you for sharing quality content! 💝 Just a question…does anyone lose weight on WW? I’ve watched many channels that do WW and people aren’t really saying if they are losing but most don’t really look any different than when they started WW. Even that guy that does the WW commercials isn’t like the company models they used to show before and afters of. Oprah doesn’t appear slimmer since taking over WW. No judgment to anyone at all…just trying to figure out if it’s worth the money and Is it still a weight loss program that really works. or something else? I don’t know anyone personally who is currently doing WW and didn’t get much info when I called customer service recently so that’s why I’m asking about the program. I did it years ago and lost weight but try to maintain. Our area no longer has meetings (since Covid). Just wondering if the online only thing isn’t as helpful.
@PlanningUsHealthy2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it. I do believe the program works if you work it. My husband and I started in 2019 and he lost 70 pounds (and has maintained that loss) and I lost 50. I had several medical issues starting in 2020 and then last year put my app in "maintain" rather than lose mode . I was successful in maintaining the whole time. In years past, I would have gained everything right back. It's like any type of program though - to me, it's just a different way of counting calories. I do both because I provide info for everyone, but I can honestly say I'd eat the same whether I did strictly WW points or counting calories. I will say that if I were to eat only junk on WW, I would not get enough calories because the points would be too high. But since I follow the 80/20 rule, it pretty much evens out. I am happy to say that I put my app back on lose mode now that I seem to be coming out of my UC flare. :)

Did I miss the reason you only have 3 zero food categories? Just curious.
@PlanningUsHealthy2 жыл бұрын
That's just all I picked when I redid the assessment. That way I have more points to use throughout the week. (I felt like with more zero point foods, if I didn't end up eating them, I wasn't getting enough calories). I found that if I picked eggs, I wasn't eating them every single week. So, one week I'd have eggs and they were zero, but then the next week I would have oats and those weren't zero. So, since I tend to go back and forth with a lot of my zero point foods, I opted to count them. I almost picked avocado as a zero point food, but then I found I could have 35 grams for just 1 point (which is pretty much all I ever have in a day anyway. :)
