The first drink I called my favorite drink was the Boulevardier. A local pizzeria/bar called theirs a Steve McQueen since they used Bulleit bourbon. Since then, I've found myself teaching bartenders how to make it because when I ask for it, they look at me like I'm speaking a different language. I've always appreciated you including this drink into your videos and this was a perfect start to my weekend. I hope a bottle of bourbon is in my Easter Basket. Cheers!

I have made and tried all of these along the way, over the past 2 years. The Boulevardier remains one of my all-time favourites. When using gin instead of bourbon or rye, if we maintain the 1:1:2 ratio and serve it up, the resulting cocktail is called Camparinete (it was actually documented at first like this, in 1929). The equal parts one, served in a rocks glass on a large ice cube, only appears in publications after 1950 with the name Negroni.
@AndersErickson

Didn't realize that - I guess I love the Camparinete. Cheers

All I know is that Anders recommended the higher ratio and it makes a much better tasting cocktail.

Great list! Always made my Artist's Special with Scotch (per Savoy Cocktail book) but tried it with bourbon tonight and it is very much and upgrade. Top 5 for me would be: Man O' War, Gold Rush, Kentucky Campfire, Mint Julep and Paper Plane. But The Artist's Special might knock one of those off the list.

Very nice Old Fashioned. I like your suggestion to use a syrup, classic is a cube muddled, which makes it easier to make at home. The cherry, while nice, is not a part of an Classic Bourbon Old Fashioned. (OK so I like the older version). I have had it both ways and have to say my favorite is with out the cherry. I wouldn't however turn it down. Same with the whiskey sour no egg white or other substitute for the egg white.. I recently went to a bar that did a lot of orignial cocktails with explainatiion of how they evoled. It was a great trip.

I would replace the Deshler with the Scofflaw (bourbon, vermouth, lime juice and granadine), as one of my five favorite bourbon cocktails. Also, at the grocery store, by the pancake syrup, you can find "Steen's Cane Syrup," which is an excellent demerara type syrup, though it has the viscosity of molasses. I like a quarter sized dollop of it for an Old Fashioned.
