I think the way the dead spirit says “return the slab” is very disturbing. And the opening scene of that episode is just wtf, I mean, the way it shows the car getting swarmed and shredded by locusts, and then next thing, this whole “curse” is gone. Also, the murky-ness of the scene in general, it’s rendition is terrifying to think that something like that in real life would happen.

In Eustace's defense I can see where he's coming from, at least in this episode. During the whole slab thing, when he was just sitting there holding the slab, he was muttering about things that wouldn't be too abnormal on a DIY shopping list. I mean come on, "flyswatter, spark plugs (probably for the old truck outside), shovel handle, razer blades, light bulb for the the attic". It's not like he was thinking about a palace made of gold, just things that would make their lives a little easier around the farm. Considering their age, lack of help, and obvious lack of success with the farm (as far as we know, their main source of income), they definitely can stand to have their lives be a little easier. Especially since I haven't even factored in the MONSTERS yet. So can we REALLY blame him for wanting to keep the slab and sell it?

My reaction to the Ramsey episode was the same as yours. It wasn't so scary at first, but after watching it some more and thinking about it it got even more scary and creepy. Even worst the image persisted in my mind and was one of those thoughts in my mind that kept me awake with the lights on at night. I'd lay awake thinking Ramses would show up at the end of my bed, I knew he wasn't real and he wouldn't, but the innate childhood mind couldn't shake the scared feeling.

You know, we never did see any more of those two robbers that stole King Rameses' slab. That means, they were eaten by the Locusts and they died. Think about that. Just realized now after seeing Ramses about 15 years later that I remember vividly the creepy music that plays when he asks for the slab back, and it sent shivers down my spine. Like it was ingrained in my memory. Weirdly enough, I was living in Egypt at the time it premiered on cartoon network and a real locust storm happened the same year, a big red cloud. They were bright red, about the length of a hand and dropped by the hundreds to the ground. I had to run with my mom from the shop to home dodging them. No wonder I'm terrified of bugs.

The thing is, I was never scared by the grotesque monsters and beings that would appear on this show. I suppose that was because I was exposed to the horror genre long before this but while I recognized that the art style and the creatures and people within were quite hideous, it never fazed me. And that is not written with the intent to make myself sound like a badass, because cartoons like CatDog still greatly unnerve me, even as a late teenager. Absolutely loved this show to death, though.

The CGI fetus and claymation girl didn't scare me nearly as bad as the tilted angle of Courage running down the hallway screaming in A Night At The Katz Motel.
@Bubbless5559 жыл бұрын
That was the most disturbing episode in my opinion and it doesn't get enough credit! Especially at the end when Katz is choking courage while holding one of those spiders! Bleh

The scariest episode for me was the dead vikings attacking the farm.I was watching it alone in my room,everything was fine until I saw a big scary skeleton pop up on my screen.I injured myself from running out of my room that time.God the memories.

Never been terrified of this show and I find it delightful and always looking forward watching it as a curious child. Maybe because I have that brain capacity to separate real from a cartoon at such a young age. Idk. I always love how each monsters are presented (drawn, clay, human) and draw monsters in my notebook back then. I love the show for its creativity and Courage was a good comfort character and maybe I only watch this show early in the morning instead of night.

The parts that scared me were the "perfect" jump scare and the end to the great Fucili.

I don't remember being scared of King Ramses but I used to have nightmares when watching the episode with zombies. Now I watch Courage for fun and "return the slab" is one of my fav quotes of the show

Number 1 for me is the episode The Great Fusilli. There's nothing particularly "make you scream" scary in the episode, but when you realize that, at the end of it, Courage is controlling lifeless marionettes that used to be Eustice and Muriel, it's pretty disturbing.

For some reason courage the cowardly dog didnt traumatize me or scare me as a kid, but the only thing that scared me is the big smile at the end of the credits that would not laugh for a long time

The man in gauze, the man in gauze! KING RAMSEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! That is the only reason why King Ramses does not scare me in the slightest, because every time I see him that darn song plays in my head on an endless loop.

When I was young, the creepiest part of that episode to me was when there was applause, but only 3 or 4 empty chairs where it came from. Now I see where the episode is really creepy though

Loved this cartoon as a kid, being 8-9 years old and seeing this.. my imagination ran wild. They don't make cartoons like they used too. I could still watch this show today at age 24 and get the creepy vibes I once felt as a kid. The Creepy barber guy?! he's enough to creep anyone out

Ramses never scared me because I always end up laughing when he moans "Oh come on." Fusilli dididnt scare me at first because Courage ended up saying "The things I do for love." Now though, it creeps me out. The inplications that Courage went insane. Evil Eustace with the green face and red eyes, now THAT terrified me.
