I love rummeynose and ember tetras. Your number one pick of the silver tip tetras I find that they are a bit aggressive to all my other fish.

Silverfins, to be totally honest I have had 14 tiger barbs in a rio 125 (8 tigers and 6 albino tigers) for some 7 months and theres zero aggression, not even boisterous behaviour, and as for a pecking order I'll be blowed if I see that. However, with the silver fins in a 68 litre then I have definitely seen aggression among the two bigger males to the point of I thought they could stress one another to the point of losing them. Not seen this for a few months though but I agree silverfins can be at the very least 'boisterous'.

i've had a school of 15 ornate tetras for almost two years now in my heavily planted community tank. i find them to be of the perfect temperament. many schooling fish that are either too shy to ever be seen in the tank, or too out going and rarely school (fish only school when they sense danger or simply feel nervous). i've gone through probably 5 or 6 different asian and south american fish species before settling on ornate tetras not only because of their personality, but also their rather subtle colour and pattern that compliment the plants well and don't take people's attention away from beautiful aquascapes like neon/cardinal tetras do.

Nice video! I'm in love with rummy nose tetras because they school so tightly and they are very active. Plus the contrast they deliver is awesome. I have them with neons and black neons, three rams (two standard GBR and one gold), an albino bristlenose, and some cories. Really a brilliant fish.

Silver Tip Tetras -- The first tetra I ever kept, way back in 19xx (that's all I'm gonna say!) I need to keep them again - go back to my roots! Only this time, not three! What Cory said about these holds true for all tetras... the more, the merrier! Get at least a dozen - two or 3 dozen would be better.

Tetras are great and ours just swim along happily together, silver tipped tetras are quite special in that they are small, have of all the right markings and colour they remind me of a mini Buenas Aires tetra with the similar markings on their tail. Thanks

I love our Buenos Aires Tetras, they've lived really well and are nice big fish. I just got baby Congo Tetras too and those will be GORGEOUS and huge when they grow up. We've also got Black Skirt Tetras and they are pretty hardy too and about 1.5 inches long, we had white ones including some long fins but they died when the nitrates skyrocketed :( We also have had headlight tetras too and only have one survivor, they are cool once they get big because you can really see all their scales but they definitely are a very muted color.

I've got 100 paracheirodon innesi, the nitrate levels are at 10 ppm, the ph is at 6.8 and the gh is at 21°, so the water's pretty hard. I've got my tank for like 2 or 3 months and I just added new tetra's a few weeks ago. One of my tetras has lost some of his skin's color, so his back has a big white spot. I'm assuming he's got neon tetra's disease. I am observing him for a while now and he doesn't show any kind of the typical neon tetra's disease's symptoms like crazy swimming patterns, seperating himself from the other fish or losing his appetite. Everything he does is normal and he looked like that for quite a while, now. What should I do? Should I take him out of the tank and put him into quarantine? That would stress him out a lot and maybe even kill him, but I don't wanna put my other fish at risk. I'm a little confused that he's still alive.

All tetras are egg layers/scatterers. Live bearers are endlers, guppies, platies, swordtails, mollies etc and there more unusual ones like trout godied, Limia species

It's been a long time since I kept tetras, nice video as always Cory. I really love zebra danios in a decent sized aquarium, I find they school nicely together in decent flow and work really well as dither fish for my fancy goldfish, is there a reason why they don't get much love? Can they be aggressive with similar sized fish? Just curious really

My silver tips were prone to bloat easily. One had an aggressive temperament and kept all the others in the corner. Columbian Tetras are easy and look great in planted tanks.

Pristellas shoal with Serpae tetras, it’s really neat to watch my schools join up and break up. I don’t see too much co schooling behavior from any one else though. I’m curious if this is normal behavior or if it’s a response to having too few cohorts? I have the about 10 X-Rays and 12 Serpaes. I’m looking to boost them up to about 18 each.
