Love to see someone with humility and going over some personal misses in the hobby. Really informative stuff, especially for the many people like me who re-entered the Poke-sphere in the last 18 months after a 20ish year hiatus.

I think now we've had 2 consecutive anniversary years (2016/2021)/(20 & 25th) where there has been these giant rises in prices. With afterwards large falls. I just think that's really the best thing to plan for in the semi-long term. Stock up till 2023/24, then begin waiting for the rise during the 30th anniversary. Trollandtoad basically admits that their NM is LP- compared to how tcgplayer classifies their NM.

I would say some other solid advice: 1. Trade with people you trust. 2. Don’t keep so much inventory: Always be selling in congruency to buying. 3. All prices are negotiable so work on negotiating skills.

Love the video! I had a sort of similar experience I had a few gold stars psa 9 and 10 I sold right before Pokémon prices really took off again a couple years ago because I needed the money and I still made some money but I only sold them because I needed the money and if I kept them they all went up by hundreds if not thousands of dollars almost right after I sold them. Because of current life things going on I’ve sort of had to put collecting and buying and selling on hold, I just don’t have the time to do the research and put the time into it where I feel like I know the market like the back of my hand and I really don’t like buying and selling when I’m not following the market closely like that. I’m sure I’ll get back into it at some point but I still appreciate your videos!

Thanks for sharing! It's good to hear from other collectors about their mistakes, everyone makes them and it's how we learn. Always will have highs and lows in collecting

Brother you said everything that happens to the average poketuber. Patience is key and when the iron is hot strike a deal especially with vintage👍. My mistake was over paying for a base set 2 zard in the peak of the hype of last year and not inspecting it better something that I normally do, only to find a hidden print line bringing it to a possible 9 still havent sent it out because of that flop. You win some you lose some.

Most of my mistakes are not buying. Then they go up thousands of percent over the years. Or trying to get something cheaper on eBay because the seller has it listed too high at the time. But as time goes on then the prices go way higher. If you want something, just pull the trigger if it’s somewhat within reason. Same thing as your first one. Don’t always try to buy for the absolute minimum.

Loosing on a card sucks but you work it in it’s a possibility. But the deals that get away that would of paid off huge or the card you sell off to early have to be the most memorable?

my biggest mistakes were not keeping my cards nice or keeping track of them and opening every booster i got instead of saving some. but thats pretty much every ones biggest mistakes lol. i lost my entire collection twice and i was a pretty spoiled kid so had i not done that then id probably not be living in an apartment right now lol.

#5 - holding onto a base set Zard is never a mistake.. in a cashless society, ZARD is king . Also every card is individual and unique, even if they both have the same grade, so if you pick up a card 2 months early, you would never be able to get that card again if you waited. .. everyone makes investment blunders, especially now in an Algorithm led market
@DavidWelker3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. This past spike was just one of its first huge jumps. There won’t be many more graded base set cards as everyone and their grandmother flooded PSA with their golden binders in the attic. The people who bought those charizards at $5k will be holding those cards, taking them off the market. The next spike will be even higher. Holding now wont look like a mistake when he’s selling for 10k on the next big wave.

Man, good stuff. My biggest flaw is definitely the FOMO aspect. A new set comes out and I have to have a certain card or set and pay wayyy too much.
@youcanthandlemyname73932 жыл бұрын
ive said it before and ill say it again. the popularity of psa grading is ruining this hobby. its one thing if you grade when nobody is doing it so the population of psa cards is low but when every body starts doing it then the grading itself looses value. eventually graded cards will cost as much as none graded nm cards to buy and none graded nm cards will drop in price significantly meaning that the only thing psa cards will have done is added a cost to long term collecting and reduced the overall value of the cards significantly. cards only go up in price when they become rarer but psa cards prevent that from happening since nearly all the cards that get graded at a 10 will stay in circulation and stay at that 10 for ever. the more cards that get graded at 10s means the less rare the card is so the price can only go down not up.
