Im glad you included your hat, i am the same way. A hat is very important. My hats range from cowboy hat, Australian outback, Tilley, fedoras and flat cap. Just depends on weather and what im planning on doing that day. The other thing i count as edc is footwear. In my case its always boots of some kind. Either "traditional" cowboy boots, combat boots, or my latest that im trying is roper Horse Shoe kilie boots. Poor foot wear can and will wreck your day and possibly cause you long term problems.

Very cool EDC. I like your old-skool approach and especially the Snake Eater knife design. That would probably do equally well in the semi-desert of South Africa 👍

nice little haversack, good for slow casual strolls and light gear. but since the invention of a backpack i think its superior in many ways for longer distance and conserving energy or slight climbing. i think the best system is still a backpack combined with a much smaller lighter haversack if needed.

I wanted to post a comment about your small bag that you carry, and I'm sorry if this is long.. Hopefully your subscribers will find my post useful. I've worked in certain fields of security for way over 35+ years, I ground travel up and down the east coast working on certain stakeholder/client sites. I've been through and stuck in some of the worst weather and other situations over the year and trust me when I say having a small bag like that has helped me out time and time again. I always have small bags like that in my vehicle, it is MORE important then a large pack back, it's light weight and it's always there and those small bags are cost effective to buy a few. I also have found having a small bag like these in a few rooms up and down stairs of my house REALLY helps. If a tornado drops out or anything happens suddenly I can grab and go from anywhere in my house (there is one right next me) . As a last tip, THE BIG THREE as I call them to have in these small bags as a minimum: 1) First aid kit (grown men don't say "Boo-Boo" kit and you add things as you see fit). 2) Multi-tool, there are a lot of clones out there that are $20.00 or less that I carry out for field use, they are not collectable items but they work 100%. 3) Some sort of self-defense tool that I can carry legally everywhere even in other states. I'm big supporter of 2A rights around firearms but people NEED some else to have in there bags that they can use easily. Does not matter if it is pepper spray, impact tool, knife.. whatever and having SOMETHING on you to defend yourself and your family.. In today's society is critical. Be well.. and take care out there.

I EDC a 'classic' Trekker. Mine gets used a lot for peeling apples and that sort of thing. I like the one hand opening capability of the newer one but the serrations make it a no-go, for me. The chisel grind wouldn't be something I would like, either. The last I knew I thought they had discontinued the classic version. It would be nice if they brought it back and I would love to have a classic style Trekker in the wooden handle scales.

I have a small sling bag style pack that I prefer to a haversack. I can swivel it to the front of my body and wear a backpack with it. its large enough to carry all my edc and a few other small items, but stays more snug to my body. My main items I carry would be #1 Leatherman Surge, #2 Fenix pd36r flashlight, #3 Bark River Bravo1 in 3V, #4 Glock G19, #5 My Keen waterproof hiking boots, #6 Spiderco PM2 with the full serrated edge. Keep up the good work!

Cool video! The Blast is great! I found one at local pawnshop. I like that the Phillips screwdriver fits the (Rebar) 1/4" hex bit adapter!👍 - so you can use it as a multi-bit screwdriver/ & also for hex shafted drill & auger-drill (by Bosch) bits!!! My most awesome bushcraft tool. I'm going to modify the smaller flat screwdriver blade into an awl; that will make it perfect 😊 Wish I could afford to try your snake-eater knife... it looks equally awesome! 👍👍👍

Interesting... I started carrying a shoulder bag back in the early 80's that I made out of heavy leather, carried it for decades everywhere, called it my purse... Took alot of flak for it, guys called it my "gay bag", but Karma being what it is, same guys there after had car problems etc. and needed tools, and I got to say; "Oh! you mean from my gay bag?" That bag is now retired, I moved to the tropics and leather doesnt do well. but I carry other canvas bags with things I need. whats nice about nylon shoulder bags is you can set up more than one.. Like a town bag, and a bush craft bag, and a car or moto tools bag. and then just grab the appropriate one. On knives, I have always been a fan of simplicity, and have written about the stuff around since the 1800's on forums, but everybody now seems into trendy stuff. My personal bushcraft knife I made by cutting down a cleaver. and making new handle slabs etc. My criteria on small knives is will they peel spuds comfortably? if they do that, they do everything else fine. And in my survival kits I have kitchen paring knives from Chicago Cuttlery, for small knives. They were less than $10 each when I bought them. I might mention, that flashhlights are critical in snake country. Desert would be nice due to snake food being sparse, you should try the jungle, where snake food is everywhere. For instance near my farm in Costa Rica, Guys doing brush for a bean patch ran into 50 Fer de Lance in one morning clearing an acre. They make Rattlesnakes look like good neighbors. Highly toxic, ever village loses somebody every year or two to snake bite, usually kids playing or agricultural workers. Thats the most per area I know of, but usually we killed a dozen a year on my farm, but more were got aways. Snake Radar is a thing you devolope....

People, if you are going to hike, carry a Trama Kit in the least. If you or someone in your group or walk up on an injured person who has severe injuries, having a Trama kit could save lives. I highly recommend that you always carry a Bear Repellent. This can be used on any animal that poses a threat, and it works great for the two-legged animals as well

I love my Hidden Woodsman Haversack. I can add pouches or sleeves with the PALS webbing on the sides. I throw a bottle pouch on one side and an IFAK on the other. It leaves room for a lot more inside the bag. I also like that it has an axe sleeve on the back. Made of great materials. That haversack you have looks good, but I'm not a fan of the 1lb buckle on the front. I see it as overkill, no need for it.
