I went camping on Lake Mead with my family, and we took a tour of the dam.... in 1967! I did a report of the dam for a school project, complete with B&W pictures and hand written text. WOW that was a while ago! I'm 66 now.

excellent tour and tour guide. I watched another video on here where the guy got escorted around by an employee and he was shown all kinds of stuff. I toured this back in 1990, great tour and marvel of engineering.

I took the tour with family when I was 10, back in the summer of 1981 and the spillway was loudly overflowing. It was sad to see recently with my children with such a low water level in December 2021.

Cool video! I didn't pick up all the information when I was on my tour, so this was really useful. Thanks for the post!

This part about the electric generators is fascinating. And This was the part that I found the most interesting, when I was there, about thirty years ago.

Interesting how the tours never include a walk out to the intake towers. I went out there myself once and peered into one of the windows. It seemed to contain motors that raise/lower the cylindrical gates, and a crane of some sort maybe to lower down maintenance workers. They seem to be off limits now. The more something is off limits, the more curious it makes people.

OF COURSE ya can't see the cool shit anymore..probably due to safety, lawsuits, the no-fun police, etc. At least this 'generic' tour is pretty tight.

I have been on many Hoover Dam tours since I was a child in the 1960's and I have never seen these things that you are seeing on your yellow wrist band tour. Your are doing an incredible filming job, so real that I forgot that it's just a video!

Look into, what they call a 'shotgun mic'. No echoes, best audio.

@@BackInTheGardenWe were using a rode shotgun mic. Echoes were all you heard in those tunnels and shafts.

I have VHS footage of this tour from back in 1991! We got some same shots! That lit up animated map of the dam and tunnels was the same from way back then!

Any other questions... Yeah, a lady asks... 'what's a coffer dam'? .. One sentence could answer that excellent question... And he proceeds to reading the robot manual, Now where's my paycheck?
