For me that was a plot hole too. The guy supposedly teleported, and Jean appeared out of nowhere. They could have added a sentence about her leaving her car behind so they could go together. If the fog merely messes with your perception, that doesn't explain how the guy changed locations like that. And to add to that, how/why did he get the false phone call luring him in when he was inside? Does the fog psychicly know who it can lure out, but also inexplicably let him leave alive when it could have easily taken him?

Would you not strife to tell someone about the paranormal happenings? Especially if your grandpa experienced it and he himself told you about it. Would you not effectively explain this to the poor fella that plans on heading to his potentially horrific untimely demise? I know it's supposed to be fiction, but the story doesn't have the believability factor that other fictional horror stories got. This one is not believable. It's been plaguing our town for years. If you value your life, I'd strongly advise you do not go... Wait for that fog to subside... You can stay at my place and leave in the morning when it's gone.” Instead of. “The fog causes many accidents. Don't go there. You can stay at my place.”😑 Notice on the first one I didn't mention anything about ghosts or aliens or Boogyman. But the way it is said. Any rational-thinking person would avoid that. Cuz the last thing you'd want is to be exposed to a hazardous chemical substances that fucks with your mind. There were so many ways she could have communicated the severity of that fog. A surfaced level warning like The fog is dangerous isn't a strong enough argument to deter someone from going. Many people drive through fog and are fine. But if we are told that the fog has an unknown substance that causes people to hallucinate and causes unexpected death. I can guarantee not many people would risk going. Would you?

Cool twist of event story but there's some things that need answering. Number one. He went off Into the Woods and then ran back toward his car and bumped into it. His coworker. Did she even have enough time to get there. Did she drive there? If so why did she get out of a car. Why did they both get into his truck and leave her car Behind. Logically wouldn't it have made more sense for her to lead the way with her hazards on and him following? Next thing when he left the gas station heading home. How is it that he came across the same guy that was broke down before the gas station. He would have had her gone back in the wrong direction in order for that to happen. Yet we're supposed to magically believe this guy transported himself and is broke down vehicle in front of him.

This was a fabulous story! You have to wonder what kind of malevolent entity is warping minds to get people to hurt and kill each other. And why it is confined to the fog and this location. Jean, the girl in the story, mentioned that her grandfather was traumatized by an experience in the fog. You have to wonder if it was something like this. Also, the police failure to really investigate either death in the fog that night makes you wonder if they have had such deaths before, and know that the people who might have committed the crimes are really innocent, having been manipulated, like the protagonist. Also, it seems that the fog entity targets people who don't know about it. The first call that the protagonist got, about a break in that never happened, was no where near the fog or the highway. Was the entity taking advantage of his ignorance, when everyone else knew to stay out of the fog? The narrator's voice is wonderful, with amazing cadence and tone, doing different characters, leading the action. His narration is marvelous, far better than a lot of professional voice actors I have heard.

The narration was spot-on, as always. The plot, however, had holes like a Swiss cheese that someone had been firing a shotgun at. First, there's the fact that the calls and text that the MC's roommate made about the break-in happened at Jean's apartment, so they would have been outside of the influence of the fog. Also, the text would have still been there. Next, If the Jean that the MC bumped into in the woods and ran over trying to escape from was the real Jean, the timing makes no sense. If she was driving her own car to reach the MC, wouldn't she have continued driving it and had MC follow in his car rather than both of them getting into his car with her driving and just abandoning her own car and it not even being mentioned? If she set out from her apartment on foot, how could she have gotten to the place where MC was so quickly? It would probably have taken her until morning to walk to where he had driven to. The same is true in the case of the man in the truck. If he had walked to catch up to where the MC had driven to, (with at least two bursts of panic-induced speed), it should have taken much longer. If he had managed to finally start his truck and drive that far, why was he needing to hitch a ride with MC?

A thought occurs. How exactly did whatever malicious phenomenon is at work affect his phone while he was inside at Jean's? Based on the presentation, it seems to imply that its related to the fog itself and is somehow mitigated by staying indoors. Did someone leave a window open? Because while Owen did step out on the porch to take the call, the call and text that prompted him to step outside occurred first. If that mechanic came into effect, that Jean either making sure all the doors and windows are shut or writing Owen going through the motions of opening one. Either way, Jean and Ben seriously dropped the ball in this situation, especially Jean. One would think that if she was willing to go to those lengths to keep Owen safe, she'd take a little time to explain _why_ people in her town insisted on staying indoors during fogs and the rules for getting through it. This is especially important if the hallucinations/glamor/mind reading/mimicry of the fog occur even indoors/without the fog having to work its way inside, as she would logically know what both of them would be in for that night. And unfortunately, I can't tell if this detail/possible logical inconsistency is the result of an oversight by Jean or the author.

The bit about the work atmosphere is so familiar: I used to work at a bookshop and the atmosphere was great. The pay wasn't very good though, and I now have an office job which pays better but is much less enjoyable.

The warning should be that the whole town is unsafe because of 'the fog' since ***SPOILER WARNING*** the first contact inside the house that got him moving was fake. That, or the guy just created that all up inside his head to cope with stress and guilt.

They should make a movie based on this! Wow! Love it ♥♥♥♥

That's a freaky fog. The guy in the truck just pulled a shotgun out of the glove compartment, WT?

You know shotguns fit in glove compartments in creepypastas but not in real life.

Had to check on the Xbox! That's the excuse the story writer gave the character, after several warnings? Wtf
@galenjones9529 Жыл бұрын
It's poorly written. Shotgun in the glovebox, Gene spontaneously showing up on the highway without a vehicle. Willing to risk unsafe drive for an Xbox. While better than the average work done by a teenager, it's not by much.

Anyone who texts you "call me now" instead of just texting what they want to say is a literal (fog-dwelling) monster.

Wonderful narration as always Lighthouse. Spoilers: Man, there's nothing you can do at this point. The stuff is already gone, cops are likely to be gone by the time you get there to report anything. Nothing you can do at 2am that you can't do after the fog clears and you're more alert. Especially when you know people have accidents in that area often even with clear visibility. However, we wouldn't have stories if people were logical. I'm not even going to blame Jean, who the frick would believe in halogenic fog? Most people would shrug it off and think you're nuts. Makes sense to stick to "That road is too dangerous" Anything else and you potentially lose your credibility.

And this is why you always press your friends if they start acting spooked. If they say "you wouldn't believe me if I told you," you say "try me."

A lot of people have pointed out the plot holes, and they’re not wrong. I like to think of it as part of the manipulation of the fog though. “It distorts things…” In a dreamlike state we don’t question when things are obviously wrong, it just feels natural
