Good luck in your race! You will do great. Remember when it gets hard “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right” 😊

That’s right! I was told that quote when I trained for my first 100 and I’ve always thought about it since!

Thanks for answering my question, Wes. Also, you sharing the challenges of pairing real life with ultra running is definitely a positive thing! It's so much more relatable and helpful to others who aren't as experienced. I hope you'll consider sharing more of your 'nutrition journey' as you try to figure that out, too. Good luck for the 200!

Thank you Erin. Nutrition is my next frontier to tackle. I've known it for a long time.

Glad you got to watch my UTE 100 video and thanks for the mention. Haha! Beautiful run on Saturday and Sunday (so many spiders!!!). What are the colors like in the fall?
@wplate3 ай бұрын
Fall colors on the west side of WA are ok, but there are some stunning places up in and east of the Cascade Mountains.

Thanks for answering my question Wes. Good luck at the Divide 200!! Do you have a favorite meal you typically like to have before a big race? Or after? I have found the last few years I have a go to meal I make at home I like before the bigger events (pasta, avocado, mozzarella cheese chunks, diced roma tomatoes, basil, lemon, olive oil). I'm not superstitious, it just tastes good, travels well in a cooler to a hotel if needed, and I know it's something "safe" that won't mess up my system.

I agree with the lube conversation. I have thick thighs and no matter what I'm wearing, they like to rub. I use Aquaphor in a tube. It's easy to find at the store and small enough to put in my pack. I have the squeeze tube and also a stick. Another product which is promoted by Special Forces is called Salty Britches.

Hi Wes, looking forward to a recap of your 200 mile adventure. When you do your Lord Hill & Tiger Mt runs, what gear/supplies (aside from fuel and hydration) do you and your wife have in your running vest? I am on a K9 SAR team so likely carry too much knowing the what-if scenarios.

Hey Wes! You mentioned that you were preparing drop bags for the upcoming The Divide 200. Apologies if you've already answered this, but do you have any recommendations regarding what type (e.g., roll-top waterproof, draw-string sling, gym bag, ziploc, etc.) and/of brand you use for the bag itself? I've tried all types of things and my biggest trouble is trying to find a bag that I can get tape (to write my name, bib #, aid station, etc. on) to stick to :-). Thanks always for the great content and best of luck in the 200!

Great question Chris! I love the drop bags I use so I'm excited to tell you all about them in the next video.

I mean this in a friendly a genuine way, but to what extent is weight loss part of your training plan? As someone who is trying to train more and run further and faster myself, I've been trying to lose weight for a while. I see quite a lot of the winning untra runners are skinny, as with marathon runners. Is this something you consider as well or is it not important?
@wplate3 ай бұрын
Weight loss is not currently a part of my training plan.
