When Edie was 6 years old she socially transitioned into identifying as a girl. That was almost 3 years ago and now my daughter has fully integrated into home life and school life as a girl. So we thought it might be helpful for other families who might be having a similar experience. for us to share a Q and A.

You have to have life experience and have pretty bad gender dysphoria to transition. Edie has only lived as a boy for like 6 years, that’s nothing. Half of that she was just a baby and has no memory. I agree that boys can have long hair and are allowed to be feminine but that doesn’t dispute the fact that gender dysphoria is still a real thing. They do mention that she often gravitated towards feminine things and did feel like they were a boy. This is common for people with gender dysphoria. Imo they need to be referred to a gender specialist because she likely does have gender dysphoria. Ruining someone’s life and letting them express themselves are two different things. If it turns out that she doesn’t actually have gender dysphoria then she can just socially transition back to a boy. It also doesn’t seem to be for views and fame as they genuinely seem happy as they are, a lot happier than if they were forced to live their life as a boy. Gender dysphoria id much more than being feminine, it’s feeling a mismatch on a bigger scale.

I totally agree. I think gender is a crock of bs and people can dress and act however they want. People take it way too seriously and think melodramatic thoughts like they're born in the wrong body. When really, it's just gender expression. Which is a man-made societal concept. Lots of people don't fit in the box and that's totally fine. Doesn't mean they're trans. If you want to transition as an adult that's totally fine, freedom is awesome. But you should try to teach your kids to love who they are instead of have them become a new person. That's how Edie made it sound, like that was a different life as a boy. It wasn't, that's her and always will be and that's okay.

@@starfiresreign children are capable of making decisions for themselves. None of this is permanent and you should treat children with more respect, they are capable of more than you think. I knew that I wanted to play piano as a child and I'm thankful that my parents allowed me to make the decision to get lessons as I still enjoy playing piano today. She may not entirely know exactly what she wants in life, but she is able to change her mind at any time, it's not permanent. So the least you could do is respect her wishes at this current time and respect her decision to be considered a girl. Forcing her to be a boy right now isn't really going to help her in any way, it's only going to cause even more distress.

What’s scary is many of these kids at the beginning of puberty get further entrenched in this. Puberty blockers at Tanner Stage 2, a mere year later estrogen may begin. As a child I’d kick and scream when my mom put me in a dress and combed my hair. Lol . I was a complete tom boy with holes in my knees, played with my brothers trucks over my dolls etc. I detested picture day at school because I knew it meant my mom putting me in a dress and making me look pretty. Same with going to weddings and parties. My 2 sisters on the other hand were opposite of me. By grade 8 I loved dresses etc had interest in boys . I’ve been happily married to my husband for 23 years with a son. You just never know I guess.

I have a story about my son. He is now her age. Seven years old. When my son was about four years old, we went back to school Outfit shopping. He picked out a sparkly blue top and plain denim shorts. He picked it out. He always loved sparkly dresses. His sister (2yrs older than him) always let him play princesses with him. We never tried to enforce it, we just let him pick. He wore a dress and a hair bow to school one day, no one cared. He didn’t want to wear one again because he said he didn’t think dresses suited him. He is now seven and he doesn’t like sparkly things anymore but I’m glad that we let HIM decide what he likes instead of telling him he’s transgender He chose a dress and a sparkly top ONCE in a store. That never made him a girl or have gender dysmorphia, it just gave him the opportunity to wear what caught his eye, what HE wanted to wear. We encourage our kids to express themselves as much as THEY want to, whether that be a lot or not at all. I personally believe that the kid in this video probably said he wanted to wear something that his sister wore and his parents immediately said you’re trans buddy. Anyway, I agree that this child in the video does not deserve those cruel parents , but I wanted to share my personal experience with a child that loves sparkly things. My son no longer loves sparkly things, and it was just a phase he went through as he was growing up, which is completely normal! What isn’t normal is for a young child being forced on camera and being forced to be transgender. This is abuse. Thank you. I’m glad that I didn’t force my son to do anything, and I treat all my kids equally. Even when he wanted to wear what his sister was wearing, we didn’t treat him any differently and I’m glad we didn’t. We said he could wear whatever HE wanted to wear, and we wouldn’t force him to wear anything. We said it’s okay if he doesn’t want to wear dresses or shorts one day because he can CHOOSE what he wears. We explained that he might not want to wear things that his sister wears as he grows older but if he does, that’s perfectly fine and he can just tell us. He is now her age and I am thanking myself for not forcing him to be a girl because it was just a phase that literally lasted like five months. This is ridiculous, they are putting their child all over the internet and saying that they are transgender just because they liked wearing ‘girl clothes’ when they were like five years old! I think it’s abusive and wrong.

I know of many adult trans people who knew they were trans from this age and even younger. She knows that this doesn't have to be permanent, but it's what she is most comfortable identifying as now. May as well respect your child's wishes as there is nothing wrong with wanting to idenfiy as a girl, especially if she finds it dysphoric and distressing to be identified as a boy.

I'm a trans woman and while yes I knew I was trans when I was younger, the vast majority of children experiencing dysphoria out grow it by the time the reach adulthood. Letting children transition is playing with fire and if they're not in the 20% they will grow into being disgusted and deeply depressed about their bodies. This is not okay and shouldn't be allowed unless the child was self harming over it or making S attempts. Only reason why I support that is because I'd rather someone be alive and regret it than the world lose a child in tragedy. This isn't okay.

I have also been a long-time viewer & fan of Anna, but how they have handled this has been incredibly disappointing. They haven't prioritized their children, especially Edie, who is going through something so sensitive. Instead, they have actuvely dragged her into the popular trans spotlight. Their own child is more important than being an ally to any movement & it is possible to do a lot of good alllyship in private, without exploiting your own child. Anna has always said that Edie was always very sensitive, I don't see how she can't realize this exposure & focus is going to negatively affect her. I am not trans but I am gay, I am so glad I was able to figure it out in private & wasn't encouraged to have conversations for the benefit of others before I was emotionally or mentally ready to. Nothing Edie is doing right now is permanent. If for whatever reason she decides she is not trans, which she made very clear in the video that she doesn't think that would ever happen, she has only socially transitioned as of now. There are a ton of steps you need to go through before any medical interventions are done. Also, no good doctors are out there willy nilly putting kids on blockers and performing life altering surgeries. I speak from the experience of having a trans son.

What it sounds like is that Edie doesn't like to answer the questions "how did she know she was a girl?" because there is no true answer she can give, because the way "she" feels is the way a boy with his "feminine" personality feels like, he doesn't know what it feels like to be a girl because he is a boy.
