When I was ten I had to sing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" (from Oklahoma) in front of the whole school. It was so traumatic that I can only remember bits and pieces of it. I didn't volunteer for the solo, I was pushed into it by my music teacher. The real trauma came months later when my music teacher was killed in a car accident and I witnessed the accident. I had nightmares for decades after that. So, Hollie I very much sympathize with you and I can't watch your video without going for the tissue. God Bless you.

My sentiments exactly. I was a father of one when I watched this on TV and now I'm a father of 5 (two by marriage) and still get a little choked up watching it. I think the nation and the world were all so proud of her after the 2nd go, almost like a parent would be. Hollie, everyone is so proud and happy to see each of your wonderful, positive posts here as an adult. You're a star.

Hollie I remember this so well and it was excruciating to watch at the time , you were a 10 yr old under so much pressure, and to come back and re perform was a huge ask, but you nailed it ! It was hiding behind the sofa time when you re performed, and I shed a tear when you finished the song , such a relief, and full of admiration at your bravery and guts to face the challenge head on, at 10 ! Fantastic! It was unfair pressure on a child and I was so happy when it went well second time round. I am quite emotional watching you reflect on this but be proud of yourself, I’m sure you are, you were and are awesome !! Always loved Sound of music ( and My Fair Lady , and POTO, great choices ) . Good on you and I wish you all the best , you were right, it wasn’t that bad ! If anything blame the show for placing a child in the vulnerable position you were placed in. Best of luck for the future , you are a fabulous young lady!. John

HI Holly. You may not remember me but I met you and your parents at your house near Accrington 10 years ago to discuss making a video for your Christmas song "When Christmas Comes to Town" ( someone else made it in the end ). I chatted with them in your dad's upstairs studio, before they called you up to say hello. I knew how harmful early fame could be for a young child, and advised them not to push too hard and allow you time to grow up and maybe attend stage school in a few years, when you were a bit more ready. I hope it was good advice. I haven't thought about you for years, but yesterday you popped into my head and I thought "I wonder what little Holly is up to now?", googled you, and here you are.. a beautiful, grown up woman, living her dreams and doing what she loves. I'm so happy for you, and wish you the very best of luck for the future!

This video is very inspiring! For those who have undergone childhood traumas, it's a good example how to let go of past traumas and move on. It's something we can all learn from you. It might not be easy to let go of the traumas and you might have to do what you do in this video more than once, but this video is already a good start. You're so brave to revisit your past self and dig into this little girl's mind despite the haters' comments in those videos. Well done!

Holly, that was YOU. YOU are talented and I truly hope you can learn to love the whole YOU. That little girl is still a part of who you are. Hollie, you have every reason to be proud of yourself. Everyone has bumps in the road and they are not what defines us as people. What shows our true character is how we pick ourselves up again and the courage you showed at such a young age to come out and sing again was inspiring. Very few kids would have been able to do that. I am glad you have learned to love that incredibly brave little girl again, because she has grown into a warm and empathetic person. I wish you all the best.

Thank you, Holly, for making this video. I have always wondered what happened to you. I remembered your first performance and just how spectacular you were as a singer. And I remember your second performance and your stumbling, and your crying about it, and your chance to sing it again. I also remember the comments some people made about you “failing” somehow. They seemed to completely forget that you were only 10 years old and it was a huge pressure for such a young girl. I am so happy to see that you continued singing and have grown into this beautiful wise young lady. I am glad that you have found it in yourself to love the little girl that you had thought had been rejected by so many, but in fact, had been loved and cherished by so many.

Sweet, beautiful, massively talented young woman, I was floored when I heard you say you hated that Hollie. Why? I'm a sixty plus man and I was in tears, watching how grueling that was for all of you. And, Hollie, sweetheart, you got massive amounts of support , from the BGT team and the audience. Never had I seen a major show, such as that, STOPPED, the time schedule shifted, so that you could try again. The kindness they showed you was unprecedented. PLEASE do not beat up on yourself. YOU CAME THROUGH and, now, look at how gorgeous and mature you are! How I wish I could hug you, look into your eyes, and tell you, "It's ok. It's alright. We're all too proud of you. Please carry on. Please be happy and successful." God Bless

Wild timing! I was just thinking about this event yesterday! Honestly, I've always found it a very emotional thing to witness, even and especially today. I'm only a bit older than you so I was young myself when I first saw it with my family, but I remember everyone having so much sympathy for you. Watching it back nowadays, I can appreciate even more how stressful and difficult that would have been to deal with, especially at your age. But it's so moving to see the crowd and the judges stand up for you and give you that triumphant second chance. You did an inspiring thing and you did it so well. Hearing your reflections on it now is interesting and all the more inspiring. You have such a mature and strong outlook on the situation as well as the guts to share it online. I'm very glad to see you've had such a positive take on this moment and I hope you have no problem continuing to carry that strength going forward.

You couldn't have drug me on that stage at 10 years old. Your voice was just beautiful and I think you did an amazing job. That was a tremendous amount of pressure to put a 10 year old under. The song was beautiful like an angel singing it. Hold your head high. You earned it.

Let me tell you, I'm thirty-one and when I was in grade four, the was about a year before my accident, so I was about 9 or 10 I got up in front of the class to do a presentation on British Columbia, I went to the front of the class and burst into tears. In grade six, after I came out of the coma, relearned to walk, talk, etc. again, someone accidently hit me in the head with a piece of candy and I started crying. Purely out of embarrassment but what I thought was the whole class laughing at me was them gasping. You are incredible! Don't ever change!

Yayyyy, Hollie. God bless you. You were brave 12 years ago on the show, AND you're a very "valiant" young lady NOW...watching yourself. This is hauntingly beautiful. To me, it has the same wistful feeling that Charles Dickens conveyed when an older Ebenezer Scrooge looked back and saw himself in the schoolyard as a child, and then comforted him. Your looking at this is such a poignant moment. It's like you staring at an oil painting of your younger self, and your heart and love, and empathy, and understanding make that painting come to life. Kids emotions can be so raw and immature, which is age and life experience related. Coming of age changes that. The moment you're feeling so tense everything around you just stops happening; you don't process the full experience anymore. The only thing you're focussed on is your feelings, the one comforting you and wanting to feel comforted. Ten years ago, when i heard your BGT audition, i loved your clear voice and extraordinarily high notes. The breakdown itself made me cry as i felt so bad for you to feel such anxiety you're breaking down into tears. Ant and Dec, Simon and Amanda where so supporting to you. I loved their responses. Keep in mind that everyone goes through anxiety, stress and hard feelings and showing them is just part of normal life. Keeping your mental health as a priority helps you maintain a healthy life.

I love that you were brave and went back to this. You were so brave then as well even as a little child. I teach singing and help my students to get on stage, most students are around the age you were here, I honestly can't imagine the platform you were on and processing it at that age. On this processing, it's so good you are working through barriers or things you've been holding that you didn't need too. A while ago, I worked through some past things I had to face up to from childhood, to move on in my life, a mentor I had said "It's like you locked a monster in a box, because at the time it was such a big monster and you couldn't fight if, but now you are bigger and when you open the box, it will be smaller and it won't hold the power it did when you were facing it the last time." And she was right, I feel like this is similar for you. All the best Hollie ❤️❤️❤️

Hollie, perhaps another way to look at this is that you inspired a lot of people to know that you can be fragile and brave at the same time. I'm sure that in many ways, life is challenging as it is for everyone, but one of the people that can inspire you now is, well ... your young self.

Dear Hollie. It was so brave, what you do. I often speak to me, to my inner child, to me, as a little girl. I am in tears, when I look your video. You are your strongest supporter. You can be so proud. And sorry, my english is bad.

You know, Hollie, you can’t please everyone. There will always be people who will love you and people who will not like you at all. I am pleasantly surprised what a charming young lady you’ve become. What you did in 2009 on the BGT stage was courageous but to watch your failure from 10 years ago, to film it and share it with the world is equally courageous. It seems you’ve lived with that trauma for 10 years. There’s a lot one can learn from this video. I admit I haven’t followed your career (got your first CD with your picture and signature❤️) but now you’ve regained me as your fan. I remember I traveled back then in 2009 all the way from Bulgaria to Bournemouth to see you sing in person. Who knows, maybe some day I’ll travel again to England to see you performing in a musical theatre. Stay well and keep doing your best.

you know what? You weren't the first to break down and that the reality. Hollie...you like everyone overcame a stressful moment and got your second chance your chance to shine! Bless you!

Hollie, you appeared at the same time as Connie Talbot and Jackie Evancho. You guys were the first little girls to go through that experience. Of course, now it's commonplace, but back then it was unprecedented; you all were forging a path that other girls would follow. And there have been dozens of girls since then (too many to list). Maybe, if you got a chance, you could visit Connie and have a talk with her. It might help. The other girls are scattered out all over the world, but Connie living nearby is someone who would understand what you went through. Also, Connie is a wonderful, sympathetic person. The hate comments from the media are to be expected. If you appear in public, you're going to expose yourself to the crazies who are like rats in a medieval kitchen. It's best to not even read negative comments. If you read them, then your brain will react and put you in a bad place emotionally. It might help to think of someone like Nigel Farage, et al. They get death threats and vituperation thrown at them daily. Yeh, it's hard to deal with. My advice, for what it's worth, don't get sad and down on yourself ... get angry instead. I have PTSD and I find that I can usually change the fear to anger. Anger is much more pleasant emotion to deal with than fear. It actually works to do that. Surprisingly.

I felt so bad for you watching that as a kid and even now. Thought that little you was so brave to go on Britain's Got Talent, and was rooting for you to win. Anxiety and panic attacks are no laughing matter, thank goodness the judges gave you a second chance. 😌 Glad you came through this difficult time, and you still became a star regardless. Hope you are doing well these days. 👍🤗🤗

Hollie you sang the song beautifully, watching it I can see you were still nervous but as you sang you began to blossom like the beautiful little flower you were singing about.

What you need to know you are loved beyond measure. Be yourself and realise that 10 year old is you. You've stole hearts. Be her and bring that innocence to the core. That's what makes you. You will always be loved

it's strange as you say that so many people were against.. As i saw through the video everyone was there to support and encourage you. You were and you are awesome and I hope you'll appear in talent show again after 11 years! We're waiting for you, Hollie ❤️

I remember years ago when I watched the video there were a lot of comments and also top comments that were roasting her, maybe now they all got overtaken by positive comments, which is awesome. I think back then KZbin was a worse space than it is now, but anyway it's always not okay to be judgemental to such a thing.

Ant, Dec and Amanda took such good care of you and Simon’s kind words definitely helped you. It’s probably not as bad as you thought because the difference of being that person and being an onlooker is so different

2:07 What you said here .... makes SO much more sense than what you could EVER (in your wildest dreams) imagine, Love!! If only half of the human population could GRASP that!!!!! We ALL have a hurt, sad, mad, angry, bitter, bothered or pained little INNER CHILD........ (some of us worse affected than others) but .... not 20% EVER connect with, THANK and HEAL the little Wonder inside (we became today BECAUSE of the resilience, perseverance and determination of that little girl or boy TO SURVIVE AGAINST ALL ODDS!!!)

Are you kidding you are such an angel and being able to do that at 10 years of age with that voice is unbelievable I hope that you are in the music industry or voices in movies and just stay positive and stay around good people don't get drawn into some people are not good people but it seems that you're very strong and willing and able to pull through that don't think twice a question in your life because you were so well loved by the public you could hear that in the crowd so don't forget that you got a lot going for your beautiful young girl 💯♥️🥰🤗🌈

Bless you. I remember watching it at the time and feeling so sorry for you but I admit that I let the tabloid stories taint my original opinion of what happened. Well done for speaking out, and telling everyone how it REALLY was. There was absolutely nothing wrong with how you reacted

You were actually one of my favorite contestants ever on many Got Talent shows through many seasons. I always hoped to see more of you after the show. How nerve-racking that must have been though. If it were me crying up there I would have had red eyes and snot everywhere. You were actually adorable haha. They need to do a better job of considering children on the stage I think. Live is so much pressure.
