Living in Serbia, Belgrade. I've lost my leg in a crash in 2017 and I know exactly what you are talking about. Plus, imagine not being able to move because of a cracked pelvis and 1/3rd of the leg missing and having to push that thing under yourself. I could stand everything - bandage changes, rotting tissue, the pain, inability to move... but that... that thing to use as a toilet, in bed is the most dehumanizing, vile thing ever. There were a few older nurses and a male nurse during my stay, plus it does not help when you are just ordinary someone from around here when you end up in the hospital. They're not that happy when someone announces the need for toilet. People like foreigners more in general It's not that bad losing a leg but that hospital stay is... horrific! First thing I did when I came back home was straight to the toilet. Vast majority of people will never experience that, but I felt such joy being able to use the toilet again. After that... the joy of proper shower. I didn't care too much about the would. I had to get clean and sleep in silence, in my comfortable bed.

Serbs are great people. I sold everything I had except for what I could carry on my back and moved to Serbia from the US to be with a girl who is now my wife back in 2012. For the 3 years I lived there, I made a lot of life-long friendships and was welcomed into countless homes where the Serbs fed me and got me drunk. Thank you for that thrilling insight into your Serbian hospital stay. Possibly a little more detail than I was hoping for but you managed to convey your undignified visitation by The Spice Nurses. As you now realise, the first thing to go in a hospital stay is your dignity. Often immediately followed by the contents of your bank account. Such is life. I had almost the exact embarrassing moment during one of my hospital stays, only the pretty nurse came in, pulled back the sheets and announced ‘ right then, no more lying around today we are going to do some exercises.’ Only then did she realise I was part way through a sly number one into a bottle. She turned all shades of red and beat a hasty retreat. Hope the walk wasn’t too cold.

I am only in my 30s and have had surguries and given birth to 4 kids and had NEVER evne needed to use a bedpan before so it was embarrassing. Not crazy at all. He has close to 2.6 million subs on his main channel. In fact, not that many people from that community joined this channel.

Ahhhh bald I can relate mate! I spent 10 weeks in hospital after breaking my pelvis and both legs in a motorbike crash, had to shit in the bedpan also! An Absolute tortureous device! I also had a problem with my balls and the doctor got all the young student nurses in to have a look and show them things to keep an eye on.... I know your pain mate!!

I was on that bowl in June of last year....It took me an hour, with 15 minute updates to the whole ward, that l was ok...You leave your dignity at the door. 😉

So true, I held my Number 2 for 7 days but the kidney beans from dinner finally got me, plus when I got back to sleep the old guy next to my bed got confused and tried to get into my bed, I was hitting the nurse alarm like crazy but no one came for 10 mins, I had to tell the guy his bed is that one.

dignity goes out the door when you have a colonoscopy when all and sundry are looking up your shitter.

@@bluecardholder I get knocked out for mine. I can't do it otherwise. It doesn't help when all the nurses and the doctor are laughing and calling you big brother when you wake up.

@@MiaogisTeas That is unprofessional of them. I cannot imagine that happening in the US. Where are you from? Also, what is “big brother” referring too? I’ve never heard of that expression other than how people refer to the government.

"The Covid Ward." Sounds like a title for a novel. Oh yes, Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote a novel called "The Cancer Ward."

I love it ! My embarrassing low point was going through prostate tests when I had to sit on the bed without a stitch on other than a T-shirt with the company of two nurses and a doctor - ALL female.

The "haha, yeah" bit had me dying. But, Mr. Bald, don't sweat it. I'm a nurse and all the private bits don't matter when you work in medicine. You see them so often that they no longer have the significance that they once did.

Serbian fan here with a bit of explanation: They cannot allow you to go to toilet as they are afraid that you can fall or slip and injure yourself. Something similar happened to my dad 2-3 months ago in COVID hospital, problem is that nurses are responsible for anything that happens to you during hospitalization and can be accountable for any injury and probably will lost there jobs. So my dad had to hide his head injury he got in order to protect nurses, tho as he says it was totally his fault, they could still be accountable anyway. And as a Serbian I can also tell you there's nothing to be ashamed of, we Serbians live in shit every day! :"D
@kidra813 жыл бұрын
I think we all have had our shameful moments but Bald just took that one also to another level. Well the good news is, whatever you do from now on, it can't get any worse than that "thing" happened in Serbia.
