I just wanted to say thank you VERY much from my wife and I for these very helpful videos. We are disabled, and the stress on us almost doubles when things go wrong, so thank you for showing the right way to do things. We lost our house last year and we are so thankful to have a roof over our heads. The safety and security of what we have left means so much. Thanks again! Blessings to all.

A checklist is something I've been putting together after my last trip. Two trips ago, I drained my fresh water tank but forgot to turn off my water pump, it wasn't fun to find out on my last trip that my water pump died because of this when I was counting on using the water pump. On a completely random side note, the Bourbon body wash you moved is amazing and I really hope they never get rid of it.

Super channel……. good video as always. I’ve been using a small blower to clean my slide roof as I’m a bit older and don’t get on the roof unless it’s a must. My trailer TPMS identified a slow leak earlier this year which makes the fourth tire issue in 3 years. Wouldn’t leave home without one.

Another electrical question: we recently went to Canada and had two camps without accessible breakers. What can we do to better protect our system in these sorts of situations? I went inside and turned all our breakers off at the converter panel, but I'm not too sure that was sufficient. However, I just didn't know if that would help at all. I've watched all of your and Jared Gillis's videos but don't recall one with information about that.
@John.Mann.19412 ай бұрын
I don’t think you need to shut off all the breakers on the panel. If you have a main breaker (possibly a different name such as master breaker) then shut that one off aught to be sufficient. The principal reason for shutting off the breaker before connecting or disconnecting is to avoid arcing when you plug or unplug the cable at the pedestal. Which can gradually damage the contacts on you cable or dongle.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS2 ай бұрын
i would agree with JOn.Mann. if there isnt a breaker on the pedestal, shut your main breaker off. its not the end of the world if you plug in occasionally when the circuit on, but its a good habit to get into.

Ross, another great video! I didn’t know my Grand Design had a stove vent latch before you taught me! Question: Do you have a video on recommended cleaners and wax for the exterior? Thanks!
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS2 ай бұрын
i dont have any videos on that, however, its hard to recommend something... there are a million different options. i dont wax my rv often... I usually use a dishsoap and this brush: amzn.to/3T10pnj Dish soap does well with grease and bugs. You'll also hear opinions from both sides of the spectrum on what to use and not to use, and for specific chemical reasons. Dish soap has worked well and when its cleaned, it looks great. as far as wax, get something that works well with your exterior... meaning full body paint, gel coat, fiberglass, aluminum, etc... and a spray on, wipe off wax will save you a TON of time.

I have add another step. I pull my emergency brake pin and give it a little tug test with my wife watching to see if they engage properly. I found a broke wire while inspecting the underside of the trailer leading to the pin connection box. I don’t know how long I had pulled the trailer with no emergency brake function in case of trailer disconnection

It is ok to flush the black tank at your campsite with full hookups and not at the dump station. Reason being I have seen videos that give directions to not connect a black tank flush to a potable water source. Thanks

@DougKarpfАй бұрын
do you risk contamination of the grey tanks by backflowing after you have cleaned out and flushed your black tanks?
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELSАй бұрын
great question and the answer is yes.... here's the thing though... there are still vapor barriers and tank vents on gray tanks... there is really no difference in the design of a gray tank vs a black tank... they are just plumbed differently. plus, they all get dumped in the same sewer. So the real question I think is do you care? some folks do, some dont... I guess its personal preference. Personally, I dont use the gray water to rinse the black tank, but I do use it to flush the sewer hose after dumping the black tank... therefore I really dont want to contaminate my gray tanks... I guess what Im trying to say is there are arguments both ways. Hope that helps.
@douglaskarpf481Ай бұрын
I agree that’s exactly what I do. I use the gray water to flush out the black water foam the hose. I was referring to when you were doing doing the Back flush into the gray tank. That’s where I got concerned that there might be some cross-contamination. Thank you for the videos that you do. I really really do enjoy them.

Quick question; I use the TPMS but do folks pull the caps and manually check tire pressures before a trip anyway?
@jamesmartin72822 ай бұрын
@@scrub175 I always check them manually anyway. I once had a TPMS that read a few psi higher than actual on both tires.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS2 ай бұрын
ive tested actual pressures on my system vs what they read when I first installed my TPMS, and they are usually within 1-2 psi of gauge. i stopped testing them at this point and trust the TPMS, and its an important metric to measure and thats why im opposed to no name TPMS units on Amazon. Very different animal than say a no name gravity chair. However, I dont think its a bad idea to occassionally check everything. theres also no guarantee a manual gauge is entirely accurate. I'm thinking about a tire video next year, but I would want to speak to a few tire professionals first.
@scrub1752 ай бұрын

Thoughts on slide out toppers?
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS2 ай бұрын
not a fan, never had them, probably never will.... but thats just me... I'm able bodied enough to climb on the roof and clean the roof before pulling in the slides, so they serve no purpose for me. In fact, theyre just another thing to break, and they make coating the slide seals a pain. Some folks love them though. It really depends on personal preference.
