Thirty five years is not correct. The cocoa trees planted before I was born are still yielding fruits. I am over 60 and the ones I met on the farm are still yielding. The major enemy of the plantation is fire outbreak. Prevent it at all cost and enjoy your trees and pass them on to the next generation

Patootie, you should have added that the Cocoa community you visited, Igbo Olodumare, must have been the inspiration for Prof Fagunwa's Book/Novel "Igbo Olodumare" which has been a Yoruba reference textbook for decades!

Ghana is trying to start producing chocolate, I don't think there's a huge market for it in Africa, it is Europeans and North Americans that are the really big consumers.

First time of seeing a cocoa plantation. 10years of planting, waiting patiently for a harvest. Then, 35years of return on investment. That tells a lot that waiting expecting, perseverance and praying to God pays a lot.

Imagine Farm i cant do in naija i did farm work here in korea one time like that, then i realised how we have wasted away our resources..Imagine i work in cucumber and tomatoes farm then but when they brought same produce to the mart, packaged we go same Mart with money earn to buy same produce n tomatoes fruit juice taking pictures saying we living n enjoying abroad life..Not saying abroad not good oo but saying they value agriculture as a very lucrative work n not as we do look down on farmers or those investing in agriculture in Nigeria as wasting time...Everyone wan build mansion with cemented terrace wen we cab use part for home farming too..

Let them keep their onions and other foodstuffs if that will stop the harassment from those mad Fulani herdsmen. We can import from Cameroon and other neighbouring countries. Enough with this black mail. And if this continues we Niger Delta people might block our oil from going North.....We will supply South West and other places while the North go import from other countries. Nonsense

OYINDAMOLA (DO YOU KNOW THAT MOST OF COCOA FARM IS OWNED BY FOREIGN CHOCOLATE MANUFACTURER AND THEY EMPLOYED LOCAL WORKERS AS OUTGROWERS) IS JUST LIKE MODERN DAY SLAVERY BUT INSTEAD OF CAPTURING THEM AS SLAVES TO WORK ON PLANTATION. THEY EMPLOYED AND PAID THEM. IF I HAD MY WAY THE COCOA FARM WILL BE COOPERATIVE OWNERSHIP. AND NO SUCH FIRMS AS CADBURY OR MONDELSA WILL TAKE OVER.
