Mat, my audi A5 had a similar issue when i took it to france. Nursed it around paris and when i got it back to the uk it was like nothing had ever happened. Turns out there was a oem factory gps on the car and you have to notify the manufacturer when making a trip overseas. Its to prevent cars being chopped and sold illegally. The tracker is located behind the glove box and spliced into the wiring harness of the car. I know you’ve got a lambo but they share the same engine and parts as audi.. maybe this is the reason as to why it’s letting u down?. Ether way i hope this helps. Best of luck

I'd guess heat, fuel or electrical related - as after stopping for a while, the car starts and runs OK, until it stops again. Was it getting worse/stopping sooner each time? Plus it gets very cold in the middle of the sea, so the "damp" could be (frozen) salt water condensation. You have a bespoke car, so its not surprising it's got a few teething problems, but you can't analyze it properly without a laptop to connect it to = bet you never drive it long distance again without a laptop. I had a Hillman Imp once that would stop after a while - couldn't figure it out. Had bought it from my Dad, who said it was a fine car with no problems. It stopped on night in Bristol, so he drove down to rescue me, by which time the car was fine. I took his car, he took the Imp, and for the next few days it was fine. Then one night it stopped on him. He got it recovered home, and tried everything. As a last resort he took the carburetor apart, and found what could only be described as very smooth marbles. The Imp had a very low air intake, and we lived in the Cotswolds - so it was basically very fine Cotswold stone dust that had been sucked up by the air filter but stopped by the carb filter, that had got bigger and bigger until they stopped the fuel flow. You never forget the reason behind a difficult fault - Good Luck!

When dealing with an issue you have to retrace your steps, what have you done different? 1. Put bumper on - so go back and systematically go through that process and check everything you touched / changed etc - 2. What difference does the bumper make? - heat and airflow ? check what electrical sensors are in that area that could be overcome by heat, - it makes sense as soon as you leave it for a bit then start again it’s ok? .... had time to cool?

Hi Mat. I'm a mechanic and I've fitted many of the vodafone trackers on our company cars. I can tell you that they are not wired upto any ECU's or anything important. They just use a normal constant live, ignition live and earth. So I don't see how it could cut the engine.

I would assume its a built in tracker from way before u owned the car and is hidden in side normally behind the glove box most cars that are performance cars have to be tracked and have built in shut off mode once out of the country even if its not being used any more the only reason I know this is I used to work in a commercial body shop and that's what I got told by the tracker man that used to come and remove them and he had tecs that said they removed the trackers but didn't and only later would find out easyist way to find out is to order a piece of kit of line and scan the car with it to see where the tracker is as most high end cars have been more than 1 built in a lambo I would assume would have 2 or maybe 3

The starting point with any fault finding is to ask ‘what’s changed since it was working?’. You’ve gone to a different/warmer country and before setting off you also added the rear bumper for the first time since fitting the turbos. Could it be that it’s just too warm around the engine with this combination in a warmer country and it’s zapping the electronics/ECU or causing fuel starvation? What about removing the bumper and going for a test drive?

Sorry but what a story. What an adventure. I had a 14 year old honda civic type r ep3 and it made it all the way to monaco. No problems but i was so nervous. Your there together. You both seem chilled. Dont worry. All part of the experience. Love the vids

Being as you’ve thrown several suitcases of money into the project so far, can the company that did the work courier you a laptop and dongle and try to get a live link fix … I’d watch the stream! Would be a good advert for their after sales care too …. You get it fixed, they get a shoutout and you get some more views! Daft afterthought is the roof box doing any weird aero malarkey and screwing up the airflow on the induction? Thermal cutout because there’s also no airflow with the bumper on? Overeager factory tracker? Or is the car just having a holiday as well?

Great idea actually

It would have played up on the way to Portsmouth if that were the case.

Just thought it looked a bit warmer over there, not getting the density of air possibly

My cars broken down, it’s a pain finding the problem and fixing it, but like you say sometimes I hate cars too! Don’t let that ruin your trip have a great time guys‼️

Some advice - highly modified cars = temperamental and never a good option for road trips, throw in the fact that it’s a Lamborghini and you have this!

Nothing to do with lower RON fuel and the ecu having a wobble since it’s used to 99? Or could it be getting too hot with the bumper on ?
@MatArmstrongbmx3 жыл бұрын
Thing is it drove fine all all the way to Portsmouth so doesn’t really make sense that it wouldn’t as we got off

I think it's the rear bumper blocking air into the motor 🤔

@@MatArmstrongbmx bumper whipped off to see if it resolves with less heat/more airflow then I would in the first attempt. Before you’re forced into buying MAF/boost/fuel regulator sensors and just guessing before you can get it back for proper diagnosis Good luck bro - loving your videos 👍

My Golf GTi did something exactly the same, ended up being a faulty MAF sensor. No warnings or anything. Unplugged it and the car ran perfect
@brubru68193 жыл бұрын
Clean MAF Sensor The MAF sensor controls the air-fuel mixture in your car, and it can often become dirty, especially if you have an open-air filter. Dust and dirt on the MAF sensor will often cause it to send wrong values to the engine control unit, which may result in limp mode. Check & Clean or Replace Air Filter The air filter makes sure that the engine always gets clean air without dust or dirt. If you have not replaced the air filter in a while, it can be so clogged that it will cause problems with the intake air

Coincided with you putting the back bumper back on. Could it be a heating sensor issue with the turbo's now being covered. The sensor not liking them covered??

My heart goes out to you both at least your still having your holiday. Glad to see you laughing about it just a shame the car couldn’t get you to Barcelona. Can’t wait to find out what’s wrong hope it’s nothing serious .🤞🤞

Perhaps whilst you are away, get your mate to send the equipment you need for them to remotely diagnose the fault, just a thought…. Lambo looks great with the bumper on. All the best with the rest of your trip.
@_andytang_3 жыл бұрын
My guess is the bumper is restricting air flow to the turbos causing it to run too rich, so the MAF or O2 sensors are dropping it into limp mode.

It’s all part of it mate. At least you can see the humour in it! I left a c63 at the airport and when we got back off holiday with my wife and baby, battery was flat as a pancake. Luckil they got it boosted with a battery pack so I was straight on the phone moaning saying they left the lights and owe me a new battery… turns out it was the front Sam module draining the battery - must of got wet when cleaning the car 😂 be careful with that jetwash people

14:00 #1 problem with high price (low value) vehicles is this YOU MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BRING ALONG YOUR MECHANIC WITH ALL HIS PLUG-IN FIDDLY TOYS. Otherwise breakdowns will occur at the lest opportune time

Hi Mat. I took my RS mk3 abroad and the same thing happened to me. Gif Gaf had not activated the roaming on my sim card on my alarm system and when the car tried to connect to a European network it had all the symptoms of yours. I locked it. Rang Gif Gaff. They sorted it. I left it for one hour. It was fine after that. Enjoy your holiday mate 👍👍
