and he was the only guy if I remember correctly to beat holland without going to a decision due to the doctor stoppage. holland had heart doing a stand up fight with one of the best strikers in the ufc and it was honestly scary to see him go back on the kickboxing agreement to survive

The fact that people want to see fights like these says something. Even Rogan has said he thinks the UFC are missing an opportunity to have a separate league like UFC kickboxing. They could treat it more like a league rather than a promotion. Incorporate throws and take downs but no submissions and laying on guys for 5 minutes. I think it would be interesting.

Islam Makhatchev had staphylococcus. He was at a fever for a week two weeks before the fight. That’s why he didn’t finish earlier, because he was still taking antibiotics and had less muscle mass. Islam did not complain, only after the fight a journalist from the UFC began to interrogate him and he confessed. Therefore, it is impossible to say for sure that Khabib is stronger than him.

The main event sorta made up for it, that was a great fight, but this was not a good PPV event. And I'm not one of those impatient fans that wants a KO or sub in every fight, I love a tactical battle, there were just way too many stalemates. All the respect in the world to everyone who won, a W is a W, but the entertainment value across the event left a lot to be desired.

Strickland debuted his fully realized Ostrich style with his fight vs. Costa. The entire division will have to evolve to face Sean's flightless bird strategy, it's interesting to see where this goes. The Poirier / Makachev fight was amazing; great grapple defense from Dustin but I was deeply impressed with Islam's striking. It was a great war, even if a little bittersweet with The Diamond looking at a potential retirement.

A great moment from Dustin in that was in the 4th I think. He did a 'switch' apparently (new to me) when he was being held up against the fence. He ends up doing a switch with Islam in front of him on all fours. When Islam gets up and faces him, Dustin nails him with an elbow and that's what caused the big cut on Islam

@@welltech66 I get that and I respect what he has done for the sport, but be assured that even if he didn't host the UFC at the plaza, they more than likely still would have found a venue. There are other pivotal figures in the sport who helped get the UFC to where it is today and they do not get the attention he does. It's quite clearly politically motivated, yes show him on camera like the other celebs but showing him every 15 minutes is distasteful and offputting whether you're on either side of the political spectrum. I mean I didn't see him at any events 10 years ago or before he was running for office? Many people watch the UFC to escape from their daily lives and that includes politics.
