Losing your Dad i wasn't aware of but having lost both my parents a few years ago now( i'm very old ) i can pass on a little of what i learned . You'll think about your Dad and you'll cry then laugh then cry lots more Then you'll think about him and you will cry and then laugh a little more and cry a little less Eventually the laughs and the fondness you feel for your dad will overwhelm the sadness of his passing , you'll still cry but the love you feel will be the overarching feeling more and more Time is a great healer is a cliche for a reason Welcome Home Alanna

It's hard, it'll always be hard but draw comfort in the things like being there for him. I'm soo pleased for you that you got your visa. Just an FYI but it's 'ado' not 'adieu'. :-) It's hard to imagine how she feels if you haven't gone through it. I spent a year in NY (from England) but always knew that there was a definite end, as it wasn't a permanent move and I had my better half with me. Or more accurately, I was with her as it was her job that took us there. That doesn't come close to what Alanna must be going through after several years. I suspect, as she's only just back, that reality hasn't hit her yet.

I, as many others, have been waiting for this video for what feels like forever. I'm so glad you're back. 2020 has been a terrible year but this is definitely the highlight. I lost my dad in 2009 it's terrible to begin with but it gets easier as time goes on. You never get over it but you learn to live with it

Incredibly brave to put this on KZbin. I salute you. You can tell by her reaction, she loves Britain (more than some British!)! I was stuck in America when my Dad died, on Christmas Eve in 1996. The Earliest flight was after the funeral, so all my family said "just come in the Summer, like you normally do". It was tough though.

@@larrybxl5406 You seem to know something we don't. Without specifics, however, we have no way to confirm the veracity of your statement, so it will have to go in the "unconfirmed" drawer. Personally, I believe the UK will benefit, in however small a way, from Alanna's contributions to our society, some of which she has referred to in a previous video. I don't speak for all Brits, but I know I speak for many when I say that it is good to have her in our country.

Welcome back Alanna. The English saying is "You've been through the mill" this year. While you've been gone, M&S Food do home deliveries now, unlike before lock down. I remembered that you like their food.
