you know whats hard to find? the technical ins and outs of how the r4 card actually works. like, what is the little OS that it boots into that lets you choose your game, why does it look like a game rom to the DS, not speculation like "so Nintendo doesn't find out" no i mean why those specific games and not some random one. like, i REALLY want to know how EXACTLY this thing works. There are nearly no YT videos on the subject. Its all kinda "place these files here, then boot the game" im like, "okay but why do it do that and how you look menu difrent??" you know what i mean? That would be such a cool deep dive into it all ^~^

Try to get a .cn r4 card those doesn't have any timebomb otherwise you'll need to install YSMenu to r4 cards like gold pro (Timebomb: card will stop working one day and you'll need to do some tweak for reviving it he is explaining at 1:00)

@@ShaggyMetalJay let me repeat myself Cards like gold pro will stop working one day, their software works that way and there is NO way to remove it BUT you can bypass it with YSMenu that is the only way some of people don't prefer it cause how menu looks But these cards have RTS that lets you to save from anywhere which its great (Arton is using R4 card with YSMenu cause it had a timebomb) There are also other cards called WOOD R4 You can not save from anywhere (only in game saving) but menu is looking great, and you do not have to use YSmenu Note: you can NOT install wood menu kernel to gold pro kernel, you can only update the software by downloading it from manufacturer website There are lot of r4 cards that way, you can google which ones have timebomb and which ones don't

Appreciate the content. I have only had solid experiences with the R4 card when it comes to DS, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color games. GBA is hit or miss, and everything else just doesn’t feel or look quite right. It would be awesome to see a company put real effort into these cards for better emulation and 3DS game compatibility, but I think that train has left the station with Chinese handhelds being so cheap and easy to use.

@@will_is_class, yes. The roms should be games that you own, otherwise I believe it is considered piracy. I don’t think Amazon would sell the cards if they were illegal to possess in the first place.

3ds doesn't have a dedicated chip to run gba games. So gba emulation is never flawless on 3ds. DS is still flawless on 3ds tho because it has a dedicated chip for DS games. It has the DSi chip which is an updated version of the one from ds and lite so 3ds plays ds better than DS consoles but GBA it still suffers

@@ericcook5745 there is Sky3ds for that, but running CFW is easier. Have an R4 for NDS stuff, and 3DS, Emulators etc, on the SD for 3DS.

Really nice content, I do have a R4, I actually had like 3 of them, but some broke or aren't compatible with my 3DS (it's outdated since i used it to play on DSi before died) my current R4 it's kinda strange, because every time i want to use it i have to set the date of my 3DS to year 2004 to make it work, yeah it's very strange, i wonder if you know about this and if there's a solution to it so i don't have to change the date all the time cause that messes up my 3DS games like Animal Crossing

its inposible nintendo ds is a 32 bit system and the nintendo ds has only 4 mb of ram the same amount of ram as the n64 had , it is literaly imposible to emulate n64 on a ds

Check the gbarunner2 compatibility list. It has tips for fixing some of the most common problems on each specific game. Some are truly broken, others can be fix by easily messing around with the gbarunner2's configuration. Haven't tried minish cap yet. Good Luck :)

2:37 how are you running Celeste PICO 8 on R4 card? Something I am still waiting for is a Virtual Boy emulator for the DS (Not the 3DS). People say it's too hard to make because VB is more powerful than SNES and the DS can't even emulate THAT properly, and to thst I say "you're full of crap". The DS can VERY PROPERLY emulate SNES so I don't think it would be a stretch to make a VB emulator.Also I'm not an expert on chips and device preformance and all that but this is just what I think. If a VB emulator is NOT possible, than can someone at the very least take all 22 of the VB games and make DS ports? If anyone reading this knows about a VB emulator for DS or has a link for DS ports of VB games, please reply with them. I'll be editing to the end of time to play Virtual Boy on the DS. Thanks.

I get an error message, when trying to load gba games directly from the file: No flash cartridge in slot2, how do i fix and if i go through the emu. it has sound bugs in most games. also 3d games like super monkeyball or doom2 are extremely broken

No, the r4 card is technically a ds cartridge. So it can still run on a 3ds because of backwards compatibility, but cant play ds games because then how could it be played on the regular ds?
