Thanks for the video. Dude you’re speaking my language. I’m working with a shogun to eliminate the stupid sony top handle. Once you get that xlr fix mastered, please update us with a video.

Looking forward to hearing if the zoom recorder works for your next rig!

I really hope it does because that would be a game changer for me!

With your master plan for audio, have you tested it yet? Trying to find a way to record external audio while shooting S&Q and be able to sync things up while just hitting record on the camera.... would love a video with details on how/if thats possible...

This is just crazy enough to work. I've never really liked the Sony handle and always use 32bit separate audio so might as well run it into the V. I'll tell people it was my idea.

Yeah this camera would be so much better if it had just 1 xlr on board! That dang handle haha! I really hope it works as well as I think it will! 😂😂

If only there was an adapter for that proprietary input where the handle goes…. And we could add our own audio

Imagine if it slipped into the battery port (connected via ribbon cable to the top of camera) & on the back of that module it had a vmount plate! That would probably be too smart wouldn’t it 😂

Did you manage to get an F3 mounted on your rig? Tempted to try the same setup as I've been using an FX3 and fill all 4 channels with boom, boom safety, and another two tracks from the Rode Wireless go II for two speakers, all on seperate tracks internally... Nice!. Now with a new FX6 I'm crunched down to two tracks and looking at a seperate recorder, with 32bit to save audio if needed.

I haven’t actually done it yet. Very soon after I posted this video. I spent a bunch of time working somewhere that I had no need for it.. but I’m back freelancing now & im thinking about it again! 👌🏼

Just an FYI, the FX6 top handle IS made of metal, possibly of the same magnesium material of the body. However it is unfortunately still pretty thin, so still susceptible to cracking upon impact. Trust me, I just found out both of these things hahah

I reckon there’s a bit of plastic going on in there too! Definitely not the strength of a handle Like the tilta or others! That sucks!! How good would it be if the audio module portion of the handle could be mounted to a third party handle in the same way the monitor does & then run a ribbon cable into the top of the body! That’s would be great. And save many people who’ve got damages handles (a big big list!) from having to replace them!

@@JedDobre Yeah, surprisingly it is fully metal, however from looking at the gaping hole where my monitor mount used to be, it’s at max 3mm thick all around so not the most impact resistant. An audio breakout box would have been a fantastic option. I believe red has a similar solution.

So there still aren't any 3-party plates with audio input using the top connection?
