"I was extremely confused to learn later on that there was an intense hatred for the prequel movies" So was I and I'm convinced that the intense hatred for the prequel films are not entirely organic, especially when you consider the huge amount of money the prequel films made and the fact that the prequel films have decent audience scores. The intense hatred for the prequel films comes from a loud minority, the average normie thinks the prequel films are mostly good but flawed films.

Kamino was erased from the Jedi archives to ensure the clone army remained hidden until it was crucial for his plan. He intended for the clone army to be found only when the Republic was on the brink of war with the Separatists, thus creating a situation where the Republic would feel compelled to grant him emergency powers. Discovering Kamino earlier could have jeopardized his entire scheme.

Yeah well, there is one problem with that. It is not just the clones. It is everything else. The equipment and most importantly the ships. The Republican Navy did not exist at the start of the Clone wars. It had to be built from the scratch. And it takes some time to build ships. Nobody noticed the shipyards getting order and churning out transports, supply and other ships. The same with walkers and Laats, adn all the other stuff. Which would have been far more expensive then the clone army. And it had to build in existing yards. You cant hide that.

This is the most "Starwars" movie to exist, it has smuggling, space battles, lightsaber fighting, world building, and of course the forbidden romance. Audiences do not realize the artistic direction GL gave it, it's supposed to be like hamlet or Romeo and Juliet. I think what makes it sour to other people is the social trends. This is high fantasy whereas the OT was leaning towards modern culture of the time

Jango is handled wonderfully as well, every scene with him in it is exciting, even more so than Boba who was also extremely popular in his day.

The war was always going to happen but it was not supposed to happen when it does. The only reason Padmé is a target is because Gunray wants her dead. There’s two ways the war can start: 1. The Senate passes the Military Creation Act and the Kaminoans contact the Jedi Order looking for Sifo-Dyas and that’s how the Order learns about the army. 2. Having gotten all the major corporations to sign his treaty Dooku launches a surprise attack on the Republic and again the Kaminoans contact the Jedi. I favor this option because I feel the Senate would be more open to granting emergency powers to Palpatine. If Jango had killed Obi-Wqn or Obi-Wan failed to get a tracker on Slave I then the war would not have happened. It’s like TPM; the Jedi almost foil Palpatine’s plan but he takes advantage of the situation. Palpatine did not want Queen Amidala to reach Coruscant after all.
@Verebazs4 ай бұрын
Not quite. The goal of the assasination attempts was to lead the Jedi to Kamino. 1: Captain Typho explicitly states they had intel that someone was going to try to kill Padmé. Where did that intel come from? Most likely Palpatine himself. Whether the attempt succeeded or not, didn't really matter, because either way, he'd have a reason to asign the Jedi to tracking down the culprit. 2: Zam Wessel was a patsy, meant to fail, Jango very clearly used her, to set the Jedi on the path towards Kamino. He could've killed Zam with a sniper blaster, he could've used a rocket or a grenade to get ridd off of both her and Anakin and Obi-Wan at once. Instead he used a relatively easily trackable poison dart. 3: The Kaminoans explicitly state, that they were anxiously waiting for the Jedi to contact them, and they were begining to think it would never happen. This very clearly implies that they were instructed to not make the initial contact with the Republic themselves, under any circumstance. 4: Gunray was a pawn the entire time of the prequels, his quest for revenge against Padmé was nothing but a convinient cower-up to hide Palpatine's true goals. That said, Obi-Wan making all the way to Geonosis and confirming Jango's contact with Dooku and the Separatists, was definitely not intended, so yeah, the war was still launched a bit prematurely.

@@Verebazs Typho does not say anything like. Typho just says “I guess I was wrong. There was no danger at all.” Further the AOTC novel shows us what was going on before Padmé returned to Coruscant and in those chapters it states the Dooku is courting the Trade Federation to join his movement. This news is what prompts Panaka and Typho to go all out with Padmé’s security. The assassination plot was NEVER meant to get the Jedi to Kamino. For that to work the first attempt on Padmé would have to fail. The second attempt on Padmé would have to be foiled in such a way the Jedi could get to Zam. Zam sent a droid with deadly worms. If Obi-Wan had not jumped on the droid or had fallen and died the Jedi never capture Zam and Jango doesn’t have to kill her. And then there is the whole thing with removing Kamino from the Jedi Archives. The plan was damn likely that Obi-Wan knew Dex. Obi-Wan by chance overhears Nute talking to Dooku about wanting Padmé dead. Do you think that conversation was had when it was to throw Obi-Wan? The Kaminoans just stated they wondered if the Jedi were going to come back. You have this all wrong!

@@CoryoPrime "Typho does not say anything like. Typho just says “I guess I was wrong. There was no danger at all.”" Huh, you're right. I could've sworn he said "I guess the intel was wrong"... "Further the AOTC novel shows us" The AOTC novel contradicts the movie a bunch of times. Even if it wasn't so, if it's not in the film, it didn't happen. "For that to work the first attempt on Padmé would have to fail. The second attempt on Padmé would have to be foiled in such a way the Jedi could get to Zam." Which is curiously exactly what happened. " Zam sent a droid with deadly worms." Which could be tracked back to Zam, a number of ways, including the one Obi-Wan did. "If Obi-Wan had not jumped on the droid or had fallen and died the Jedi never capture Zam" Oh, yeah, the Jedi lose a respected member of their ranks, the first Jedi in a millenia to kill a Sith, master of the Chosen One, on a mission to protect a Senator, and they don't throw everything they have to track down the culprit. Totally believeable. If Obi-Wan had died, they would've found Zam a bit later, at which point Jango would have still killed her. "And then there is the whole thing with removing Kamino from the Jedi Archives. " Kamino had to be removed from the Archives just to make sure the Jedi don't stumble upon the Clone Army by accident. That doesn't mean they had no means of finding it, they just had to search for it a bit harder. Dooku was a Jedi, he knew the Order had contacts all across the Galaxy, and it wouldn't be too hard for them to find Kamino, once they had a reason to look for it. "The plan was damn likely that Obi-Wan knew Dex." Oh, yeah, Palpatine knew all the way back during the time of TPM, that Obi-Wan would be the one sent to find Kamino. Eventhough Obi-Wan and Quin-Gon going to Naboo in TPM was something that caught him flat-footed. "Obi-Wan by chance overhears Nute talking to Dooku about wanting Padmé dead. Do you think that conversation was had when it was to throw Obi-Wan?" No, like I said, Obi-Wan making it all the way to Geonosis was a mistake, that could've easily ruined the plan. Nonetheless, Gunray's grudge was a convinient cover. "The Kaminoans just stated they wondered if the Jedi were going to come back." And that the prime minister was anxious to meet Obi-Wan. A clear implication that they were told to wait until the Jedi came to them, and to not go to the Jedi themselves.

I showed AOTC to my 4 year old daughter back in December, not even considering that being a moment to be worried about because it never affected me, but she got really terrified. When I talked about it with her, I learned she thought the dart Jango shot turned her into a monster. From the mind of a child, that logic checks out. fwiw, for anyone curious about what do do if a kid gets scared of something like that, take some time and show them how it was made. She's been scared of Zam, Darth Vader in Empire, and Vigo/The Scoleris from Ghostbusters 2. Each time I showed her behind the scenes pictures of people making the props/puppets/costumes, and the who actors are and, if I can find them, pictures of the actors having fun on set with the main characters. It always helps empower her to contextualize/defang the fear as something that's crafted by artists trying to tell a fun story.

The Jedi serve the Senate, not the other way around. If the Senate decides to use the clone army, the Jedi cannot refuse. Moreover, with Palpatine holding emergency powers, he had complete control over the military and likely prevented anyone, including the Jedi, from investigating the army too closely.

One thing that irritates me at times is how some people mistake disliking the acting, or dialogue for bad writing, and bad acting. It's okay to subjectively dislike something without it being objectively bad. There are far too many positives, and emotion in the George Lucas Star Wars films (every one of them) for any of them to be considered bad films. At this point in my life, I actually wouldn't change any scene in all 6 films because each Star Wars film was a mark on my life, and I can't objectively point to anything that isn't functional about the films, even if certain things could have been done differently to improve the films. The Prequels reinforce the original trilogy 10x, and I do believe the Prequels rival the original trilogy in many ways. Much of the fan made Star Wars content, official video games, and television series involve concepts that were only introduced through the Prequel trilogy. The 6 Star Wars films (not that Disney crap) are the vision of George Lucas brought to life.

That's why I hate TCW it contradicts the Prequels and not enhance it like many people think Lama Su tells Obi Wan that the Clones are modified to be less independent than the original host so they are totally obidient and will carry out orders but the TCW and the Bad Batch shows Clones are or mostly independent which is Canon breaking that's why I don't consider TCW and The Bad Batch canon only the novels to the movies and The Clone Wars Micro series and the EU that explained the Prequels much better than the TCW ever could

It's always been the best of the prequels to me... it's more personal than Sith, even though Sith is amazing in its own right. All the problems Sith has are all the same problems Clones had, both left limping from the baffling decisions and lore changes made in Phantom Menace. Qui gon will ALWAYS take my blame for the sin of the sequels, moreso than Jar Jar, by taking Yoda's place in the narrative. I believe that was entirely because they had an ugly Yoda puppet, and the cgi wasn't good enough at PM... QG felt like a placeholder from the start, someone i didn't need to care about, and I HATED him for it! YODA found Obi Wan and Anakin. YODA personally trained them BOTH at the same time! I think there was going to be a hint of force manipulation in Padme's sudden blindness to the biggest walking red flag she will ever meet, next to Palps... the way she leaned in for the kiss felt so uncomfortable and unnatural, like he was supposed to be using the force - as a real Darth Vader would - but they didn't want to add assault to a kids movie... Padme's reciprocation of his feelings would have made 100% more sense, though...

This is my LEAST favorite Star Wars movie (not including the "Sequels", which as far as I'm concerned are not canon and do not exist). I HATE the speeder chase; it shows Anakin's arrogance and unlikability, and just goes on too long, like the podrace. It has ANOTHER horrendous minor character that you just want to kill (I DON'T mean Jar-Jar;...well, YES, you STILL want to kill him, too, but, again, like "Phantom Menace", there is actually a character that is far WORSE then Jar-Jar: in "Phantom Menace", it is that loathsome podrace announcer. Here. it is the diner owner (a 1950's diner on a futuristic planetary-wide city?????). Both make me want to claw my eyeballs out of my head painfully the moment they show up. But, for ME, the WORST thing? The "Scooby-Doo" mystery plot. Watching Obi-Wan prowling around, trying to find Padme's would-be assassin, is just something that doesn't belong in a "Ster Wars" story. If I want a mystery, I'll WATCH a mystery. I couldn't drum up enough interest to see it when it came out. It is the only one of all 6 movies that I can say that about.

It didn’t take long for me to understand why you feel this way. It was quite perplexing for about 60 seconds until you told us that this was the first Star Wars movie you saw. You are just biased by this. I’m not saying that episode two is a bad movie. But it’s not a great movie. The dialogue is ridiculous, the plot doesn’t make sense, the pacing is off, the love plot is completely ruined by the fact that the actors have absolutely no chemistry. The entire movie reminds me of watching roadrunner cartoons. Entertaining, but there’s nothing really there. Now, of course anyone can have any opinion they want. But I think it’s worthwhile to be aware of your own biases. I have a strong bias in favor of the original series. Why? Because I’m old enough to have seen them in the theaters. In fact, I’m old enough to have seen the original Star Wars at a drive in theater. People my age generally prefer the originals. Younger people generally prefer the prequels. You prefer episode two. These all happen for the same reason. You tend to prefer the episode(s) where you got your first Star Wars dopamine hit. That’s perfectly fine. But you are confusing your own neurochemical biases for some sort of insight that only you have. The most underrated movie ever? Ever? it’s good to have insight when you find yourself wanting to make statements like this. While not impossible, it’s quite unlikely that you’re one of the only people in the world to properly appreciate a film. It’s far more likely that the rest of the world isn’t stupid and imperceptive, they just don’t have the bias that you do.

Hot take: I like my friend's version of Darth Vader's backstory much more. It's basically a combination of Eren Yeager & Shishio Makoto. It's very heartfelt but also tragic & insane. Her version of Padme is also very different. She starts off as Nausicaä & slowly develops into a Lady Eboshi type character. The 3rd film ends with her still alive & raising baby Leia. Due to her last injury by Anakin, Padme doesn't have much time to live. Obi Wan is ordered to hid Luke away & be his protector. Her plan is to stay alive as long as she can & raise Leia to be a strong Rebel leader with the help of senator Organa. Should something ever happen to her daughter, there would still be hope in the galaxy far away. Atleast from what I remembered.

No, jedi are not taught to supress their emotions or that emotions are bad, but to control them and keep in check, in other words it's about discipline especially for people wielding deadly lightsabers and force abilities. Not to mention Yoda FELT Anakin's pain on Tatooine when his mother died "Skywalker is in pain. Terrible pain." With literally a great veil of sadness in his face and expression same thing with Mace coming in asking gently, "what's wrong?" It shows they do care and are concerned for Anakin and they don't block off emotions. Literally Obi-Wan was cradling his old Master, Qui-Gon and not wishing to see him die obviously because he's a father figure to him just as much as he was to Anakin. People tend to forget that. But Obi-Wan accepts and let's go and moves on because that is what a jedi does, lets go, accepts and understands the transitional nature of life and moves on. That's why Anakin struggles because he was taken when he was older and had formed an attachment to his mother who for obvious reasons means the world to him (next to Padme) Sick of this fallacy and dumb misconception against the jedi.
@kimmypfeiffer91308 ай бұрын
so for the sake of argument, i'll accept the throwaway line from yoda that luke ~ at 18 to 21 years old ~ was too old to train as jedi doctrine.. and i'll even accept the BS that babies were taken from their families when they were infants to be trained whether they wanted it or not...my contention is the jedi KNEW anakin was different, they KNEW he had that attachment to his mom, but they tried to square peg him into a round jedi training hole...if the jedi had taken his unique situation into account, treated him with genuine compassion, i'd accept your premise...but the jedi fucked anakin and the galaxy.
