The storytelling in the prequels is so well thought out, cohesive, and effective. It’s like a full circle, not perfect, but complete. The sequels, on the other hand, are like an unfinished connect-the-dots picture. Thank you for your appreciation for episodes 1-3!

25:16 If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it's because he didn't want it to be too obvious. Sidious has always been a man of subtlety, so I suppose he wanted it to be natural.

Not even two minutes into the video and this dude saying that the “small stuff” that people gripe about is only the acting, dialogue and overall ugliness due to overuse of green screen. So, ya know, not little things

As opposed to the grander storytelling, world-building, themes, character arcs, etc. AKA "the big picture." Don't get so caught up in the wording of that one sentence and actually listen to what I'm saying. Yes, I should've worded it differently, but it's incredibly clear if you watch the whole video what I meant. You have to try really hard to misunderstood what I meant there.

Woof. “Incredible storytelling’ being used for the prequels is a little strong. Like, the overarching story is pretty cool. But if this is “incredible storytelling,” what do you call, ya know, actually incredible stories in films even in the genre. Blade Runner 2049, Dune parts 1 and 2, Interstellar…. Also bro really just said people complain about the “small stuff” then lists the small stuff as literally every aspect including acting pacing writing.. ya know, most of the things that make up a movie and that make it good or bad

By no measure ever used by humanity is the storytelling in the prequels “incredible”, unless you mean incredible as in “I can’t believe this actually happened the way it did”. These movies were made to sell toys to kids and no amount of nostalgia can erase the damage they did to the overall story of Star Wars.

I will fight for respect for the Prequels for life! The storytelling, as you mention, is amazing and just blossoms from Phantom to Revenge. Watching these over as an adult and seeing the foreshadowing of Anakin’s fall from the very beginning is just so good!

I love the prequels. I have ended up watching them more than the OT. Whilst I acknowledge the OT are objectively better movies, the prequels reveals themselves slowly and bear up to repeat viewings so well. I watch them all the time, I'm obsessed with them. I say this as a 48 year old who grew up on the OT.

It makes sense that Sidious would transfer Padme’s life force into Vader but not that he’d purposely lose to Windu? Ok

I find it amusing that, in a universe with a supernatural energy field connecting all living things, people can’t seem to fathom Padme dying despite being physically healthy. 😂

The midichlorians were confusing to me at the time. As of late, I’ve understood it not as a person’s power or potential so much as their affinity to the Force. It’s a subtle difference, but essentially it’s that some people learn the ways of the Force more naturally than others. Given enough time, effort, instruction, etc., any person can reach equally limitless heights. But for some people, it’s a steeper climb.

On the subject of sound design in the Prequels, one of my favorite moments in all of Star Wars is the "Activate the droids" scene near the end of Phantom Menace. Of course, the Droid Army March is part of what makes it so good. Just John Williams being the GOAT again. But the noise for the signal! The whirs and clicks at the close up of the B1 waking up! The echoing clap as the droids all about face at the same time! And of course, the clanking as they start to march! It takes an army that will only ever be fodder for comedy after this point, and just this once, it makes them so damn cool!

Ima commenting before watching. I was always driven away from star wars, because of what i knew of the originals. Its one of those situations where i didnt much care for what I knew of the main characters. A few years ago I decided to watch the movies in order for the first time. The prequels are still my favorite of the movies. The clone wars are still the most interesting aspect of the series. Thats why I prefer the sequels. The clone wars represent the massive amount of different plots to focus on with direction. The storytelling was just that good for me at least. Not to say there isnt potential after, but focusing on only a few characters after the originals kind of reenforces my thought that they should step away from anything skywalker. Thats why Madalorian stuck out to me so well. Ok. Rant over lol.

mace survived....i refuse to believe mace was the ONLY jedi that didn't survive a fall...in my version, yoda gives baby girl skywalker to mace to raise among the wookiees and the correllian space pirates...she learns jedi shit from MACE WINDU, she learns to fly and use a blaster from corellian space pirates, she learns to use a crossbow from the wookiees....warrior, princess, pirate jedi! that would have been an OTHER...not fuckiing leia poppins...leia was a bad ass as the leader of the rebellion...making her luke's sister made her weak and stupid and ruined her for me...she was a terrible 'other'....
