Have you seen kindergarten or first curriculum?? The common core goals are for children to distinguish between fact and fiction. Students are to list what could happen and what is make believe after most of the stories. Kindergarten is not the same wonderful experience it was before testing and mandates took over. I pretty much ignored many of the directives and let children believe in Easter bunny, Superman, Santa Claus, Jesus or anything else they wanted.
