To speak on behalf of American ARMY, I can confirm that most of us feel the same. We get happy when we see them in interviews, but they get repetitive and boring because the writes don’t care enough to make it entertaining. They are just using BTS for views. Also, on an unrelated note, I wish they spoke more about BTS’s music as a whole aside from just asking about LY....The music is why I’m here, yet all we hear about are the fans, their looks, or popularity. The focus needs to be on the work they create and not their fame.
@athina26855 жыл бұрын
Right! I’m a us army and I hate watching most of their American interviews because the interviewers do bare minimum research on them and that’s all they care about p.s I hate it when they ask bts about girlfriends like even if they any of them had one they wouldn’t tell you

The ignorance of interviewers with their dumb questions and egotistical questions drives me INSANE. BTS is not like other boy bands WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE SO POPULAR, they aren’t just about looks or girlfriends but about loving and accepting yourself for who you are.

Its not meant to be taken seriously, if anyone does even the slightest bit of research or knows anything about BTS, it’s that they aren’t sexist or mysoginistic, also the way the first comment was worded doesn’t make sense but u got the idea lmao )

I agree with you. It's like this year so much happened to BTS (achievements, issues, concerts, stage performances, appearance, and etc.) that they discussed whether to disband or not. To much pressure onto them and expectation. They really need a big break. I don't want them to be on the point that they won't be happy on being an idol anymore.

@@chiyukino Yeah. They deserve a break, but no bon voyage, no summer package, nothing. Just the seven of them to do as they please. Taehyung mentioned once that he wanted to go on a trip where they got to show each other their hometowns, he also mentioned going without cameras. I hope bighit lets them do that. Even better, I hope they've already done that... But now, there's that world tour... I don't think they have the time. They're so busy they haven't been on a reality TV show for months, maybe even a year? Ever since Knowing Brothers, they haven't been on any others. i think that the lyrics in war of hormone are almost purposely misogynistic bc if you just look at the title and the overall song i think the lyrics are about the sudden rush of hormones teenage boys get, not just about wanting sex but this new admiration for the female body that they can’t quite control, hence the “war” of hormone, almost like they’re trying to fight it. yes, the lyrics do go a bit too far but i don’t think they had bad intentions with it.

yeah i agree. in context of the whole dark & wild album (my fave to date 4ever and ever) is all about love and what i like to think as the subsections of love as in love to another being, love to an art (as in music), lust, dangers of love and so on. war of hormone was what i saw as in the feeling of attraction at first sight or lust subsection. it talked about what's only on the outside which im NOT saying you can't love. it's just idk i always felt uncomfortable ever since i watched the music video with the closed captions on. to this day, this is the only song from bts that i skip. maybe some fans don't find it uncomfortable but i do and that's okay. also, i would like to add that sometimes i see people defending the lyrics saying that they aren't so bad and that they actually kind of like it. honestly, i think that it's okay to not agree with our idols and we don't have to follow along with everything they do. thanks for reading my ted talk.

WOH lyrics are a bit too much but i think that song describes things that happen to teen boys their sexual attractions desires and etc. they talk about school youth maturing and that aspect is definitely part of youth also it suits dark&wild theme
@galaxywanderer54555 жыл бұрын
See, if you have ever studied about male psychology during adolescence, you would know what I am talking about. When a guy is going through puberty his testosterone is at its peak. If he is straight he is definitely going to think of women in a sexual way whom he is sexually attracted to. It would be objectifying if all they think about women is in a sexual way which is not restricted to hormonal peak or anything. A guy will objectify women aka think of them as nothing more than sexual objects if he does not learn how to respect women as humans. And trust me, I am not defending them just because I stan them. This is the reality. Sexual attraction in itself is not objectifying. Objectification is a mindset. They could have toned down the lyrics a bit. Poems and song lyrics around the world have always described female body in a sexual way and I have seen much worse. I come from India where sex is a major taboo but poems from all times have descriptions of female body often metaphorically which usually have much dirtier meanings. All I am trying to say is even if this lyrics did not exist you cannot change the way straight men think about women. Personally, I think the only way to be in peace with the fact is to be okay with it as long as they know how to respect women as human beings. PS: I am just stating why I don't think the lyrics is bad. If you still think it is not right then that is fine as well.

When I heard about the shirt situation, I did not believe everything that was told. I did not feel disappointment towards Jimin because I know that he's not that kind of a person. I did my own research and found out the root of the problem. I think what we should learn from that issue is we shouldn't trust everything that we see or hear on the internet and research first before reacting. BTS is getting bigger and bigger and I'm sure that there will be bigger issues that will "test" them and us as BTS and ARMY. So we need to be more cautious.
@EM-rm2xh5 жыл бұрын
I was really disappointed with how western media picked up the story and how western fans (and non-fans) first reacted. It shows how little knowledge the west has of East Asian history and the complicated relationship between South Korea and Japan. What happened to Jimin and BTS was never about a T-shirt. And the fact that western artists have promoted in Japan with no issue having worn shirts that were WAY WORSE (ie. *not* Independence Day shirts--which is what his shirt was--but rather shirts with a full on picture of a nuclear explosion on it) while in Japan is telling. This was due to a decades long, ongoing dispute between two nations, and unfortunately, BTS got stuck in the crossfire and been made into a symbol/scapegoat by Japanese media/politicians/far right JPN extremists. If anyone's interested, fans put together an analysis of the entire ordeal called the White Paper Project. I'll link it below. Basically a group of professionals (writers, engineers, teachers, students specializing in history, etc.) got frustrated with the mis-information and decided to lay things out. Really informative and interesting. www.whitepaperproject.com/en/

The shirt itself isn’t the problem but nuclear bomb is really saddening. Yes it stopped a horrible war but it killed so many innocent people and to flaunt it on a T-shirt with liberation day it just makes me sad. Would you wear a shirt with a bomb on it that may have saved your people but also killed so many innocent people who didn’t know anything? Of course there would be controversy. about the jimin’s shirt controversy: why would he hate japan when bts gives ALL of their attention to japanese armys? i do have a point.
@makarisland5 жыл бұрын
JungshOOk I think that would be a weak point though. The reason Japanese kpop fans receive so much attention from the kpop industry is pretty much purely for commercial reasons: Japan is kpop’s main money maker as it is the second largest music market in the world. I don’t see any reason as to why Jimin would hate japan either but I don’t think the attention and content directed towards J-army correlates to BTS’ or BigHit’s perceptions about the country, it’s almost certainly for the money, and as of late also the immense popularity they’ve gained in JP. Besides, I personally think BTS doesn’t give Japanese fans as much attention as other companies and artists seem to do, imo bighit and bts distributes the attention more evenly compared to many others in the industry

I wasn't offended by war of hormones. I actually love it. With this "backlash" the message I'm getting is that it is wrong to be a teen boy/young man and have a perfectly normal and biological sexual attraction to a female. To state what you LIKE a girl to wear (not telling her WHAT to wear, BIG difference there folks), what physically excites you about said girl is wrong. Even more so to put these things in a song. There was nothing disrespectful or vulgar in the lyrics. As for expensive girl, RM was very young and only following the trend/example set by American hip hop. (It's still cringey though.) Ok I'm jumping off my soapbox. Carry on

I am a woman myself and i dont really get offended by the lyrics of war of hormone and no its not bc of my unconditional love for bts i belive that that song just shows how the mind and the thoughts and the body of a teenage man works what they say in those lyrics is not wrong teenage boys are like that bts have obviously been like that especially namjoon if you see him around 2-3 years ago he was quite the pervert boy and those lyrics just showed that they are men and have hormones too i dont understand why some females felt offended as if we are any better we also when we look at a man we like will have dirty thoughts or comment on their bodys(especially if they have abs) we are not pure either i have pervert thoughts too when i see sexy moments of bts or when jungkook shows his abs etc its normal i am 17 years old thats how my hormones work i think that those that got offended are hypocrites feminists and mostly haters who wanted to ruin bts career and seriously compared to the way the western music shows women in their music videos being almost naked and shaking their asses and having the cameras focus on their asses when they shake them war of hormone is quite innocent despacito is quite offensive too speaking about a man wanting a woman just for sex but i dont see anyone complaining were are those butthurt feminists when you really need them???

I was told that the meaning of idol was to tell people that they weren't turning western because people kept saying that 'tear' was very western, so thats why a lot of people in America liked it. So for idol they went with a lot of noise and more colors and random stuff on the MV because Korea tends to be like that? But the point of the song was to show that they weren't different that they were still the boys we love and care about. A lot of people said bts changed after "dark and wild" and then that they changed again for the whole love yourself thing. I honestly still love them no matter what era they decide to stick with weither it's their bad boy era or there soft boy era. Anyway the point of this comment was to say I guess I get why you didn't really think idol was an AMAZING title track.
@fairytalearts8105 жыл бұрын
I don’t know where all the thing about them ‘not being western’ or ‘they’re trying to keep they’re korean identity and that why they made Idol’ is coming from, but from the lyrics it’s clearly stated that they are dissing the haters. They even mentioned it themselves when reacting to it, e.g; Jungkook at the beginning, ‘And this was when they told us we didn’t practice enough’ or the part with RM and the filters was because people had told him he looked ugly with filters. I understand why most people didn’t enjoy Idol too much, but I just hope it’s not because everyone’s assuming it’s because they’re trying to keep their korean identity or whatever.

@sofia_with_an_f4 жыл бұрын
I think who you prefer as rapper really depends on your style. Like, apart from their voices sounding different, each of them focuses on certain specific aspects. For example, Suga goes for very raw, often emotional lyrics and plays a lot with speed, while RM goes for more metaphorical language and introspective lyrics with a focus on wordplay. J-Hope's rap is a combination of those, lyrically, but with the drawback that he doesn't usually go all out for either, so it's more of a balance, yet at the same time, he is the most experimental when it comes to changing the flow and beat along with his voice's texture/pitch/intonation (and he does this often). But I think we can all agree that they are all amazing rappers and that every single stutter rap is high-key iconic. (Think RM in Ddaeng, Suga in Daechwita, and J-Hope in Ugh) [Edit: I am a year late to the convo but who cares? Not me 😂]

I agree fully with the stuff with America. I myself am from America, but I’ve seen this shit go down. I got into kpop in 2012 with stuff like Big Bang and 2NE1 and then into BTS, EXO, and more. In America still, almost everyone in schools will bash you for liking and appreciating K-POP and Korean culture (and J-POP and Japanese culture as well) because most of America is full w pretty shitty people especially where I live (Michigan). I’ve seen America trying to get clout from kpop and fake fans hyping up DNA and Taehyung and that’s it. Like of course DNA is a bop but it’s not the greatest of all their songs and of course we love Tae, but these girls don’t even make an effort to try and ya know, actually learn their history and other members and appreciate them for who they are. do you really not see anything wrong with the lyrics for war of hormone? the song purposely tries to downplay woman and act like their only purpose is to be the source of pleasure for men. “us guys just do them”, that lyric specifically makes it seem like the only thing women are here for is satisfy men, it’s disgusting. plus you saying “they were young and immature” kinda makes it seem like being young is an excuse for being sexist. it makes it seem like that it’s normal for young boys to think of woman as objects. i don’t really know if that was the intention of what you were saying, but that’s what it felt like. honestly i don’t even know where bts got this mindset from, but im glad they’ve changed. although you were right in saying 21st century girl makes up for it, it’s important to admit that war of hormone is still wrong, we cannot change what happened in the past, but also cannot just erase their actions.
@bangtans15245 жыл бұрын
thats the pOint. as a teenager myself, i can tell u that many male teenagers think like that. they think of woman being a use of pleasure. theyre hormonal. theyre at a stage in life where they are growing up and having these thoughts. ive heard many boys call women objects, and saying theyre only used for sex n shit. i dont know if ur living in the 90s or sum, but this is pretty normal.
@angeimendoza5765 жыл бұрын
Ella Rafisura I can agree with you there on that one line. BUT the song does actually give women a bit of confidence. And I say that because of the lines "your front is the best. Your back is the best. From your head to your toes. You’re the best." Also lines like 'my real wish is only you.’ ‘Girls are the best’ and ‘If the standard of beauty is in the ocean, you’re the Seriously Sea 1’ war of hormone isn’t a really bad song but I can agree that it has some misunderstood lyrics. But it shouldn’t be getting the backlash it’s getting. We all know that the song wasn’t made out to be disrespectful or masochistic.

Unpopular opinion 4: I wouldn't call that unpopular as most army say this. Most prefer Yoongi's rap over Namjoon's. I am one of the few who prefer Namjoon but that is partially because he's my bias Unpopular opinion 9: yes they desperately need rest but at this very moment BTS is the only source of income for Bighit, relying heavily on them. Just as in JYP over half of their income comes from Twice so obviously they are also gonna be overworked and JYP even have many more artists. When the new boy group debuts, it's hopefully gonna be lesser work for them because let's face it, that new group is also gonna be famous because they come from Bighit, no matter what Unpopular opinion 11: yes during TMBMIL era the story line was good and very relatable but now where there is time travel or worm holes or whatever are involved, i dont know about you but I personally am not Doctor Who and can't really relate to the idea of travelling back in time to change the timeline, so to me the story line has just gotten out of hand

Wake up Sweetheart, it's 2018 already. Jimin has been the Main Dancer of BTS since 2013 (i.e. since their debut). Don't be a solo stan. Kookie and Jimin get the most centers because they are the ones mostly singing the chorus or have the most lines. I agree on how you describe rap line and also the old eras of bangtan are my most favorite, which is their hiphop days.. My opinion: > I love the old songs of bangtan especially these types of songs like Autumn Leaves, Coffee and such.

Sad Cabbages Taste Bad Wow okay... there are tons of shit I don’t agree with from what you said, honestly. But I’m not gonna write a full blown essay on why I think some of the things you said were bullshit. Anyways, the part about their diss tracks were not my favorite: it’s not like they’ve been rapping about B-Free for years on end (in case you didn’t know, B-Free is some wannabe rapper that called BTS’ rapper line all types of things straight to their faces so they made a whole song dedicated to him without even saying his name) but rather they’ve been making songs to each issue they are faced with. Instead of “”going off”” on Twitter like immature teenagers they produce bops instead 🤷🏽♀️ But I respect all your opinions even tho I disagree,,, (Btw the whole part about how people shouldn’t come at you because you don’t like their “Taehyung and Jungkook oppar” was not it sis. And the shameless promotion for Stray Kids ((who I stan rather hard)) and EXO and then the comment on Mark ((lmao I love him tho)) was just not necessary,,,)

^^ also I didn’t really like what you said about them not being gay,,, it’s not your place to assume shit just as it’s not their fans’ place to assume they’re gay. I get that sometimes the shipping and stuff can get overwhelming but stating, as though it’s a fact, that they’re _definitely_ not gay or anything but straight is just heteronormative thinking, ig. And sorry that just rubbed my the wrong way, and I’m bi af lmao

Dammit I really don’t want to bother you with another comment but I think the storylines are interesting,,, it’s like one big connection and inside secrets and stuff- idk I just find it cool. If I wanted to watch music videos about partying, sex, and drugs I’d just watch an American artist’s MV, yknow? I’ve been exposed to those things that when I watch KPOP MVs and such with meaning behind them I get very interested in them.

Personally I think War Of Hormone is hilarious. When I heard about the controversy surrounding it, I read the lyrics and I didn't have a problem with them, I just thought they were funny. So, to get an impartial opinion on the lyrics in case I was biased because I like BTS, I read them to my mum. My mum is a total feminist. She said, and I quote "it sounds exactly like what would be going through an average teenage boy's head." I agreed with her. I think there are two things to remember about the lyrics to War of Hormone 1. Any song that has the lyrics "now I'm going to pop my pimple" shouldn't be taken too seriously, I think it is tongue-in-cheek. BTS do tend to be pretty sarcastic, it is likely hat allot of the lyrics are not meant seriously. 2. BTS write their albums as a story to show emotional development and the development of maturity. It is quite likely that they used War of Hormone as a part of a story, and it doesn't necessarily reflect what they actually believe. Rather, it might reflect how allot of teenage boys are as a product of their culture, and how they need to grow up. Regarding the shirt incident, it is important to note that Korea and Japan were at war at the time of the atom bomb and it was a terrible war. Japan had pretty much taken over Korea and were doing a cultural purge. Destroying historical sights, artifacts and also attempting to kill the Korean language. Japan has one of the worst human rights records when it comes specifically to prisoners of war. The prisoners they took were slaves, the men were literally worked to death with physical labor and little food and Korean women were forced to become sex slaves for the Japanese, called "comfort women." Furthermore 40,000 - 50,000 Korean prisoners of war/slaves were killed in the atom bomb blasts. Those Korean Atom Bomb survivors who made it back to Korea are almost forgotten and receive very little aid or recognition from the South Korean government (which is the fault of the SK Government, not the Japanese.) In conclusion. The Atom Bomb was an unimaginably terrible event that our generations simply cannot comprehend. There were many victims of the atom bombs and most of them were innocent civilians and slaves. But the bombings also became a symbol of hard won freedom for a country that had been almost destroyed by war because they see it as the event that ended the war. For me, one of the must disturbing things about the atom bomb being used as a symbol of freedom for South Korea is that those who view it that way must not know about the thousands of Koreans who were killed and affected by those blasts. I am sure that South Koreans wouldn't view it as a symbol of freedom if they knew how many Korean's had died and then been deliberately forgotten by their own countries government for propaganda purposes. Sorry if that was too long. Great video by the way. And I totally agree with you about Idol and Tear. Wings remains one of my favorite era's though. I find it more relatable than the Love Yourself era.
