I'm cancelling my platinum and I'm looking into the US Bank Altitude Reserve or the BOA Premium Rewards Elite. I live in Houston so I really want the restaurant option priority pass since there's only a Centurion lounge I'm excluding Venture x or CSR because I want the best version of priority pass. I usually fly 4+ times a year. Which do you recommend?
@TheCreditFrog2 ай бұрын
Because you want the best PP version with restaurants, I recommend the BofA PR Elite. You get one for you and for 3 others, and each can bring their own guests too! It’s a higher AF card, but depending on how much you use the benefit, it could be very valuable. Having Platinum or Platinum Honors status helps make it a great card for that catch-all spending. If you don’t think you’ll need more than 8, USBAR is good too. I have both and I love both of them!

Thanks! It really depends on your own travel habits, what airports you go to, and what lounges are at those airports. Personally, I would try getting lounge access at as many airports that I fly to often as possible, even if Centurion lounges are "better." It won't matter if you don't go to them! So many cards offer airport lounge access now that you can really choose the right fit for you!

Looks like a pretty solid strategy going forward. What was your order for getting the Ritz Carlton card vs the brilliant? As someone trying to start the marriott card lineup would you recommend to get the brilliant before the product change to the ritz or vice versa? That way you get platinum status during the 2 year wait period vs keeping the boundless and waiting the 2 years to product change after you get the brilliant SUB.
@TheCreditFrogАй бұрын
@@KeepItKAA I got the Brilliant before the Ritz, but I had the Boundless card to start (it was PC’ed to the Bold). This is the best IMO just like you said to get Platinum status and also still be eligible for the welcome offer on the Brilliant!

As always, love to see others' plans and setups! Been thinking about the CSP vs CIP myself too, but I think the CSP has better travel insurance/delay benefits, and beats out my Amex/VX cards given it triggers even if you pay for a "portion" of the trip... Which cards do you typically use for booking flights (cash or fees on redemptions)? Also it seems like although there's some simplifying of some cards, all those hotel cards seem to add back more complexity! Do you already typically have plans for using them at places, or you travel enough to know you'll be staying at nice IHG/Hilton/Marriott properties every year?
@TheCreditFrog2 ай бұрын
Thanks Kevin! So yeah, the CSP has a lot better protections since the Ink Preferred is more geared towards business spend. I books flights on my Amex Platinum, but once that’s gone, I’d probably switch over to my USBAR, and they both have travel protections. There’s definitely more complexity when you get past the core setup, but it comes down to the organization of each level. I never spend on my Marriott cards (except $25/mo dining on Brilliant), and I use the Ink Preferred for Marriott stays, Hilton cards for Hilton stays, and my IHG card for IHG stays. I generally tend to use the co-branded card with the hotel, except Marriott because 3X UR will almost always beat out 6X Marriott points!

Haha why not NAF Alliant 2.5% instead of $95 non-elite BOFA premium rewards? Or upcoming NAF Smartly4%? I'd cancel the Amex Platinum and if you need Hilton Gold, you might be able to match your Marriott status over but even if you can't there is no way Hilton F&B credit is worth $695 (or less if credits and not burned out). Saying it is phenomenal is a stretch lol. I am burned out by dealing with the stress of getting it applied as it is not automatic. Stayed at Conrad Resorts World in Vegas, and only can be used at horrible Dawg House sports bar not any of other 39 places. Stayed at a Garden Inn and got charged $10 for non-fresh squeezed juice. Haha literally the juice is not worth the squeeze!

Yeah, I'm not saying Hilton Gold is itself worth $695, but it's certainly worth keeping, if possible. Alliant 2.5% is a nice card, but since I'm already with BofA, that seems easier, and I get slightly better mutlipliers and if I can use the $100 airline incidental credit, it would help with the $95 annual fee. We'll have to see with US Bank Smartly - if it doesn't have foreign transaction fees, then it would be a huge win, otherwise, I'll probably have to pass. Understand where you're coming from with the F&B credit, but personally think it's worth it from my experience!

Why downgrade to OG Freedom and not to Freedom Flex? I converted all of my OG Freedoms to Freedom Flexes long time ago.
@TheCreditFrogАй бұрын
My wife already has one so an OG Freedom is fine. If we want to get another welcome offer for the CFF we can cancel the one we currently have since we have it more than 24 months

@@TheCreditFrog I converted all 7 of my CF to CFF, cause they have additional categories.

You can get a CFF welcome offer again after 24 months if you want to.

chase business hates you or what's with the $5k limits?

I think I have a lot of Chase personal limit so my business limits are smaller as I’m capped out with Chase

@@TheCreditFrog aahh ok! I just applied for a chase business ink cash and it's "pending review" so i'm just curious with it all. Hoping to get around $10k.
