I would agree but considering that Credit One isn't as bad as Premier Bank. Credit One will be the better card for people in the SubPrime category. Mission Lane, Destiny,Indigo, Open Sky are really bad too with high annual fees. Even those cards are one step above F on the Premier Card.

I've been a member of Navy Federal Credit Union for 40 years. Back then we had to wait until we were deployed overseas to join, and we had to have a money order for our opening deposit. It was worth every hoop I had to jump through, though. If you're Military or an eligible Veteran I strongly recommend NFCU.

This was a lot of fun (and informative) Spencer. I just can't bring myself to put the Chase ecosystem in the same tier as Amex. I do agree that for the majority, Chase is better. However, Amex is really not a "majority" Issuer. In some ways it's apples to oranges, and they probably exist for different use-cases and target demos. Chase has gaping holes in their ecosystem: groceries, gas, no 2x basic earn, and 3x restaurants is just meh. The largest bank in America is way behind Amex on a lounge ecosystem. Though I really like Chase, they end up A or A+ if I'm generous. Great stuff man!👍🏾

Chase’s flexibility of redemptions at a respectable rate is what makes them #1 over Amex for me. Of course you can add the CS Platinum or Business Platinum + Amex Business Checking account to cash out your MR points at a good rate, but that requires a high annual fee to make that happen.

At my current stage in the game, my ranking definitely aligns with yours. Although I personally don’t like the coupon approach of Amex which ranks it behind C1 for me. The USBAR is an intriguing option right now. For someone that leans more towards portal redemptions vs transfer partners or domestic/economy travel, I think an interesting argument can be made for using the USBAR with the “realtime rewards” over the CSR. The main drawback I see is the inability to transfer points between USBank cards though

@@SpencerJohnsonOfficialabsolutely! Keep up the great work. Correct me if I’m wrong, but for someone content with 1.5cpp and not concerned with the potential outsized value of transfer partners, the USBAR essentially opens up the playing field for all carriers either through the portal or by utilizing the “realtime rewards” directly with each carrier. This is obviously leaving a lot of value on the table for business/first class flights, but for economy it’s a valid option.

Although chase has good partners I feel like people never mention that chase's cards have very poor point earning if youre not churning the bonuses. Locked in at 1.5x when the FF's category isnt good (i.e. rn). Imo most of Chase can just be replaced by the bilt card which has hyatt. Just combine Bilt with something like Citi and optionally use the VX for travel/costco to replace the DC.

@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Yeah I guess it really depends on your preferences. In my case I'm looking for a long term set up which wouldn't require constantly having inquiries on my report but I get that churning could work too. Aside from that chase also has the world of hyatt card which I really want. As for Amex I couldn't justify having to monitor all of my various coupons. Coupon credit cards would really just force me to spend more in an unnatural way to rationalize the annual fees

Mostly agree except with Synchrony Bank. I already get what an Amazon Chase card would give me with their others. I find Amazon Store card has a solid cash back 5% and it stacks on some deals. I also find Lowe’s to be a great card. I am a veteran and get an automatic 10% which stacks with 5% off using that card. That is an everyday thing. I am heavy Amex simply because I travel a lot but would probably be Chase heavy if I did not. BILT is like its own category I think. It’s a must have card if your into the card game.

Lovin' the USBAR love, but it's beyond S tier - it's $-tier! Yesterday's $521 co-pay at the dentist gives me $24.50 back on travel. (4.5% in free travel redemptions - but wait, there's more - your free travel redemption was technically 3x spend too - so you earn 3x points while redeeming points). 4.5% of the 4.5% = 4.7025%), Not to mention all the Visa Infinite perks and benefits. I use this for rental cars, transient taxes in Hawaii, and things you can't book in a portal like DCL. 8 Priority Pass Restaurant visits, too! Property taxes with a 2.9% fee - bring it on - it's still cash flow positive. $-tier baby!

Wells Fargo in A tier ….

I remember when I had a Credit One card. It was $8/mo and it did give me 1% cash back. But ONLY on gas purchases 😂. They should be even below trash. Send them to the center of the earth and forget that they exist.

Yikes that's so tough haha. It's crazy they've stayed in business so long with those types of offerings.

@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial As you said in your video, their logo looks close to Capital One and they're predatory. They target those who have terrible credit and/or are low income earners. So they prey on those who are trying to rebuild their credit or desperately need a line of credit to help survive.

Will you ever go back to making 2 videos a week?
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial 3 ай бұрын
It’s possible! However I’m already doing pretty close to that. I do 1 public video a week alongside 1 members only video bi-weekly and 1 members only live monthly. So 6 long form pieces of content a month.

Amex is my #1 by far for elevated travel experiences,…..Although Chase is catching up with the Sapphire Reserve, United Club, and Ritz Carlton cards.

Is this a travel points value ranking? If it is, then seems like a good ranking. If its a credit card ranking, then I dont know. Capital One, Wells and especially US Bank and BofA are fabulous earners for cashback. From that standpoint, they are laughably better than Amex and Chase.

As I mentioned in the beginning, I took into account a lot of factors including points ecosystems, card offerings, etc. For those on team cashback I could see why you'd rank others higher!

@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Years ago I paid off my balance with Discover, and they increased my credit limit even though I didn't ask for it. Shortly after that they canceled my card for no legit reason. I complained to the credit bureaus, and they eventually removed Discovers' closed acct notifications from my credit report.

Chase customer service is fckn garbage. All calls go straight to India, to people who are barely understandable and don't know sh!t about any Chase product. I have to scour the internet and watch youtube videos to try to get my simple questions answered.
