I've never been quite so impressed with a Dyson product as I have been with this! Partly the rarity of one in the UK, partly because it's flipping amazing! Let me show you how it turned out, and what it looks like now!

That was one of the 3 best Dyson vacuums ever made! The other two are the DC-07 and the DC-14. Definitely worth repairing. The DC-17 has the most aggressive brushroll in all of the Dyson vacuums. Without question.

Yes, I rate it equal to/maybe slightly better than my Kirby Sentria 2 for aggression! It bought a full solid bin out of my mums carpets, and every collector I've let have a go has been impressed

Biggest thing with these is to make sure the seal on the bottom of the silver cone doesn’t ride up out of the channel it sits in,, and make sure that the same seal doesn’t get bent over when closing the canister once you’ve dumped it. If that seal is compromised by those things it will suck material up into the cyclones and eventually clog the machine completely up. I’ve had ours apart 3 times because of clogged cyclones. Kids not caring when vacuuming is what did it. Otherwise a great machine

Oh, the Dc17 is an Amazing, American Beast!! Designed for all of the McMansions with Wall-to-wall carpeting! The irony is I received mine from a customer who only ever had area rugs. He purchased it soley because it was the highest priced unit at the store in 2007-ish. I cleaned it, replaced filters and brush roll and it nearly as new!

Hello sir: I have this DC17 MACHINE. Have a problem with it. the vertical part is stuck with the horizontal part and vertical part would not recline. I have to use lot of force to do that and it would make a loud sound when doing it. I feel something might break while putting force on the horizontal part to get rid of the stuck part. do you know what might be wrong with this stuck problem here. thanks. is there a way i can contact you over the phone. thanks.

I own a DC17 DYSON vaccuum cleaner and was stuck in the upright position and wont recline. As per the video, I lubricated the parts responsible for the slide mechanism on the undersurface on the right side with WD40. it worked and now my vaccuum is working just fine and smooth and reclining easily. thanks

In fact in US all DC14 tools fit the DC17, only difference,the upholstery tool and the dusting tool on the DC17 have a permanent bend where as the DC14/07 pair are flexible angles

It's not for sale, I like it too much. I've never had a Dyson like this, infact only a few other vacuums get close to it!
