My wife and I just bought new furniture and realized that the china cabinet that my mother in law gave us is very outdated. I came across your video after looking for ideas and this is what we needed! Thank you for the honesty and the steps you took. I think your project came out amazing and I love the color.

A tip: you can watch series on kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.

Thank you for your honest lessons learned! I think these are things we all run into in anything in life. If you take your time to do the small steps it will make the rest of the way easier and correct the first time.

I would turn that into a vanity by adding a huge mirror, lights and changing the color to white. The gold will look great on it! It’ll sell for a lot of money too because of how big it is. Anyway, you did very well!!! :)

It’s beautiful!!! I so want to try a project like this but I’m very very nervous and unsure. I don’t like wasting money so if the project doesn’t turn out great I would be disappointed. Good job!!!

Thanks so much! & I TOTALLY get your dilemma (that's how I feel about cooking 😂😂) but i would start with something small if you don't want to put too much money in it. Get a feel for how much you like upcycling and the end result of the small project and then if you love it I'm sure you'll feel more comfortable tackling something bigger! There's TONS of imperfections in this cabinet that I see daily but I still LOVE it so much every time I look at it bc I know I customized it to be something special for my home! Good luck if you decide to try it out - I'm sure itll be great 😍 and if you don't love it, you still learned from it! 😉

Defo would have done the beading and the hinges in the same copper colour but overall a lovely first project, and a brave one to attempt something so big! What did you do with the other half?

You can rub a bar of soap along the drawer edges and inside the openings to help with the sliding motion if you don't have wax. Also, a white candle will work as well. I think it turned out exceptionally nice, especially for a first project. Keep it up. It will only get better from here.

I think if you put some dark wax on this piece it would give it so much character! You did a great job, keep it up!

Ooh I've never used dark wax (or any kind of wax for that matter - hello newbie lol) but the idea of this intrigues me! I'm definitely going to look into it - thanks so much for the suggestion and compliment! XO

You did great! You took on a hugh job for your first project! Lol. Most likely your trouble was the spray paint is oil based and the blue paint is water based. They don't blend well together. Everything you learned from the lower cabinet will now help you go faster and it will be easier to do the top. Taping... So important. ..I usually tape off & paint about 3/4 of an inch inside the frame of the cabinet as well as 3/4" of the side edges of doors & drawers. Just so you don't see the wood when closed. .. Also very important, I've learned to mark all the doors as well as the hinges & put them back in the same exact places!!! Sometimes rubbing the drawer and inside the cabinet where the touch together with a block of wax helps them slide better. You can pick up from the hardware store. I get mine @ joanns. And sometimes...they just rub and chip paint. Paint does harden (cures) as it dries so try not to use for 7 days. You should be proud of your work. It looks beautiful! Keep up with it because you'll only get better and in no time at all.. you'll have a home that you and your family will be proud of.

Only advice I have is Don't clean wood with Clorox wipes or any kind of bleach. LOVE the colors, I have these same colors in my home! You might want to invest in a sprayer if you've officially got the Up cycle Bug!

It was a great video and you did a great job on your project! Next time can you try setting up your camera with different angles and let us see you removing drawers, sanding stuff down and painting, just stuff like that and do a voice over and time lapse. Those are the type of diy videos that I enjoy because I don’t mind the talking so much if I can actually see what your doing vs you talking about what your going to do or for the video to jump to the next clip where it’s all done and now your just explaining what you did. It kind of takes the fun away if I don’t get to see the fun stuff. I hope that you try another big project like this soon ❤️

Thank you so much!!! And trust me I wanted to show all that good stuff but my tripod was broken at the time 😭 and I wanted to get it done by a certain date! I will definitely have all that filmed next time though if I get to do more upcycles! 💕

I really wish she had removed the backing plates for the door pulls, using a tack lifter to remove the nails, a thin piece of wood or even cloth to protect the surrounding wood and it would have been much easier and better than what she did; but I guess for her first project what she did was ok, since the item was for her own use, but someone really needs to help her with these things. The Blue was just a little too much, a Wedgewood Blue would have been a better choice, but again, that's just my opinion. The whole thing took courage and did come out pretty well, Bravo for your efforts and keep going, you will learn as you go.

Given that I kept the original door pulls, I love the backing of it! But I wish I had known about the tack lifter to remove the nails cause then I would have changed them out completely to something more my style! Thanks so much for your input XO
