I don’t think songs like this are meant to be sang live and danced too at the same time. It’s either one or the other. Michael Jackson never even bothered singing this live because he put all his focus into the dancing and the performance it self. Live vocals are better for songs like Man in the Mirror or She’s out of my life or something. This choreography is quite rigorous on it’s own and to add singing on top of it is suicide

The high notes are playback. Hell, the whole thing is probably playback (a combination of his voice and mj). In some parts there's singing when he literally has the mic down to his waist
