Back when new or now? Adding up their cost when new (and adding inflation to that) would give you a ridiculous number. Most older consoles can be had for real cheap nowadays. I picked up a fat PS2 with the cables, a memory card and a controller for 10 bucks a week ago.

Switch boxes, they make them for composite and hdmi, I use them and they work pretty well. But I used some really really old ones and I recently replaced them and they work perfect again. They make ones that automatically switch sources and ones that you have to press which input.( the ones in the video were automatic ones)

It's 14 years old, made just before the full blown smart TV craze hit and everything was removed and you were left with HDMI. There's no way this would be doable on a modern TV without a crap ton of converters all feeding HDMI switches.
