Personally a fan of the long tours of the area. My favourite thing I think is that you should talk more about the bike, ride quality, acceleration, handling. Really appreciate your insight into how the bike operates, especially on a ride. Would prefer more details on your setup since sometimes you’re on a different bike and I have no idea what you’re riding. Would also be nice if you could share your ride distance, route map is probably creepy but it is nice when you share your spots.

Ebike modifications and experiments are my specialty and favorite thing to do, so you are in the right place, my friend. I plan to modify that HAOQI Cheetah soon, so stay tuned for that. Thanks for the input regarding long videos. It's easier for me to do them that way, and it feels more comfortable and natural to me. I do see the value in a polished tutorial video from time to time. I agree, even if a video is long, I will make an attempt to timestamp important segments, which are easy enough to find with the features available through KZbin. Thanks for all of your comments and generous contributions to the channel, my friend. I highly appreciate it!

What drew me to your channel was the Flipsky as my controller blew due to a short in a headlight horn that zapped 3 light horn switches & then a 25 amp rated controller. Your comparison of different motor types & set ups is very helpful to me & many new eBikers I would think. I'd like to see you upgrade the Haoqi Cheetah with a Flipsky to compare to stock & air forks if the Cheetah doesn't have them stock. Seems to me eBikes have taken off in the last few years & many of them will start breaking & with a EBiker Channel to guide them to fix them themselves would be cool 😎

Yeah, I think you're right about the growth of e-bikes lately and the increasing number of broken e-bikes popping up every day. There's a lot of opportunity to help people fix or upgrade their bikes. While it might not be as lucrative as shilling bikes, I believe the market for repairs and upgrades will grow over time, and I'll continue to focus on that. I wanted to upgrade the HAOQI Cheetah with a Flipsky controller, and I might still do that. Unfortunately, despite being an existing affiliate partner with Flipsky, their company policies hinder efficient collaboration. Although I appreciate Flipsky's affordable prices and value, I don't see much future in partnering with them or promoting their products. Overall, I think Grin Tech is a more positive force in the e-bike space. I want to support and promote companies that value education, knowledge, and driving the industry forward, not just profits. I'll continue working with Flipsky and VESC, exploring scripting and development. However, if I find another VESC controller that aligns better with my ideals, I'll consider switching. Thanks for your input, Steve. I really appreciate and enjoy all your comments. You've been a great supporter of the channel lately, and I'm grateful for your presence. I hope you'll stay tuned in the future. Thanks for watching, mate!!! 🙏🤙👍

Maybe a video of a new bike build from scratch, like a killer budget bike build, that would do well. Keep talking and explaining things. If I find a subject that's interesting, I usually look for the longest video. I think you need to keep the videos diverse; you know like actually building, maintenance and repair. I personally like the videos where you tear your motors down for maintenance - these are things I need to do. The addition of the overlay of your speed was a great idea. I had a bike with the Bafang G062, which is why I subscribed to your channel in the first place. I'm still not a fan of regen though; I don't like the sensation of "braking" when letting off the throttle.
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ Ай бұрын
Hey David, thanks for the comment! That’s some great input. I did a budget bike build with my latest BBSHD on the MTB. The Phaserunner could be substituted with a Flipsky; I’ve made videos demonstrating both setups and plan to return to BBSHD VESC projects in the future. I should perhaps do more videos on my 75V BBSHD. I did some during the bike-building process, but it was completely new to me at the time, so I didn’t know what to expect or what problems I might run into. Back then, I wasn’t knowledgeable enough to give authoritative advice-it was more like, “Here’s what I’m doing.🤪” At this point, I think I have it ironed out and it works really smoothly. I never did a proper follow-up video showing the build with a cost breakdown, explaining why it can be economical despite being a BBSHD with an aftermarket controller and battery. I like to keep my video topics diverse, but new builds can be expensive, and I already have more bikes than I can make content for. So, I try to experiment with the bikes I have. Regen braking is nice and important if you want to save money on brake pads, especially with a big heavy fat tire bike. Regen is a brake pad money-saving game changer. It can be configured to a brake lever instead of the throttle like I have it. Even with my setup, where releasing the throttle activates regen, there’s still a dead zone where I can hold the throttle and coast without regen activated. But yes, it can be weird to let off the throttle and have it brake hard. It’s not great for certain types of riding where you want to coast often. Regen can also be configured to engage with backpedaling in the Phaserunner and could potentially be implemented in VESC. Regen can be configured and controlled by different inputs. Ideally, if you had a brake lever that output a signal more like a throttle, that would be ideal. I’ve thought about mapping my regen to a throttle that’s just physically attached to my brake lever. I like doing the maintenance videos-they seem to perform really well over time. But of course, I do those out of necessity, and I try to avoid “fixing things that aren’t broken.” Lol 😂 i tend to get myself in trouble fixing things that aren’t broken …. 😳 thanks 🙏 again for your input David, i appreciate all of your comments lately my bud!! That input is very helpful. Tyty🤙👍🤙👍😎🫡

I personally enjoy the long videos. You do a great job covering different ride environments MTB and Road. I like the repair vids alot. Along with new product reviews. You've covered alot of areas for channel growth. Keep it going like that and mix it up. Some channels use drone videography/Photography. Ebike meetups are also done. Going into local businesses or stores for channel filler. Thats just a bunch for ideas. It's your channel 'Buddy' 😊 and you can run it how you decide to! 👍

Hey Patrick, thanks for the kind words and input regarding my channel and content style. The repair vids are very interesting to me as well, so I will always do a video if there is some kind of problem. But, of course, I try to avoid "fixing things that aren’t broken," so those repair vids are done out of necessity! I agree new product reviews are big and help with channel growth. My Flipsky video was really successful, even though it was an hour-long, low-effort production, LOL. However, to be honest, affiliate marketing Flipsky products is not lucrative, and the company is difficult to collaborate with, bogged down by company policy and bureaucracy. I got sick of emailing them after one email. So, while I appreciate Flipsky for being a cheap VESC FOC controller, I don’t currently have a positive impression of interacting with the company. I will continue to look for different VESC controllers and new products to review, though. That is a great observation. You also have some good ideas for different types of content I could create. I've looked at drones, but they seem expensive, and in, say, five years, the technology will be much better and more affordable, so I’ll just wait. Right now, it’s still the early adopter phase. It would be great for content creation, but each time you bring in another piece of technology, it can complicate the entire process. For example, I got a GoPro Max 360 camera, but after fussing around with the software and the giant video files, I ultimately returned it to GoPro. It was cool but a total disaster to work with. I’ve considered looking for group rides locally, but it always seems like trouble to me, like there's always someone or perhaps many people there that I’d rather not be associated with, haha. But yes, Patrick, thanks for the ideas, input, and kind words. I really enjoy and appreciate all your thoughtful comments.

I like watching while i'm fixing ebikes, drones and escooters. Lately came across an mq controller that had super weird ''powers'' I had to replace it with a proper controller. Now, every option work perfectly but it was a long process to source informations. I'd love to see you hack into the Bosch cx, i'm sick of those KZbin representatives claiming to have a fair opinion when they actually are paid to say Bosch as many times as possible for promotion...
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ Ай бұрын
I try to avoid proprietary products and systems that are not user-repairable and companies that don’t support the right to repair. The Bosch system, involving the controller, battery, CAN bus communications, etc., is all tied together through software. It's more complicated than sending a throttle voltage here and a brake cut-off voltage there. The controller communicates with the battery BMS and other components. To hack the Bosch CX, you would have to reverse-engineer both the firmware of the controller and the proprietary tools Bosch uses for repair, maintenance, and configuration, which are not available to the public. You'd need access to private intellectual property, which is unlikely without internal sources. The system is very proprietary, and gaining complete control over it beyond just hacking the speed would be a complicated and arduous task. I think Bosch e-bikes are cool and offer a refined user experience, but if I can’t repair it myself, I am not interested. Bosch e-bikes are designed for users who prefer a ready-made, integrated system over tinkering and customization.

As long as you want them to be. There is no set time as I find shorts a bit of a waist. At least you are trying things out and explaining your method which would be helpful to inexperienced bikers that might be interested in how you do it. The VESC is interesting even if I don't use it at the moment but I see it's potential in the future.
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ Ай бұрын
I agree, I don't like shorts either. I create them as previews of highlights from my long-form videos. During Susan's tenure at KZbin, shorts were the only way to grow a channel. If a low-effort short can gain a bunch of subscribers, it’s hard to justify the time and effort for long-form videos. It was a tough spot on KZbin with shorts being heavily promoted. I don’t like them, but you do what you have to do to grow. I try to make shorts as previews that make people want to watch the full video when it’s released. I also agree about VESC. I want to get into it more, but I don’t see much collaborative potential with Flipsky. I'll keep looking for other VESC controllers. I want to continue developing with VESC scripting, and potentially create a VESC package with ebike specific features. However, during the summer, I prefer spending time outside enjoying my bikes and sharing those experiences. So, I haven't been scripting much lately, but I will definitely continue in the future. Its hard to sit inside click clacking away at the keyboard, when its a beautiful day outside.... 😅🚴

Not something I usually watch but I've gotten into this habit of having your videos on in the minimized player while i do autocad, shopping, errands, etc. I've actually been inspired by the format as previously all of my videos were so heavily edited and they took months and months; whereas i see you can just pump them out with amazing consistency. I really enjoy all the diy and modifications/break downs of it. Why and how. The experimenting with different setups is great. I prefer longer videos as short videos always seem rushed or something. Have you thought about messing with the new cyc x1 gen 4? There's like no content on this motor right now.
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ Ай бұрын
I've been following CYC since the Gen 1, but I'm not a fan of their business practices. They rely heavily on hyped-up pre-orders and deceptive marketing, often not showing the motor noise or real riding footage until recently. The lack of user videos is a red flag that suggests CYC is still in its infancy and untested. CYC has their users pay to pre-order untested products, making them the testers. Then, they abandon the product and move on to the next generation. I've avoided CYC because of this, and the few KZbin videos I've seen often show people burning out the motors on the first ride. If they sent me a Gen 4, I'd create content with it tirelessly for months, but I can't justify spending thousands on unproven equipment. I hope their partnership with EBC helps them grow, but paying $2,000 for something from CYC is hard to stomach. Thanks for your input on my videos / content / creation process, I had a feeling most of my existing subscribers would also feel this way. That type of content is the stuff that I am most interested in creating and sharing. But im always looking for ways that I can perhaps do something differently, without necessarily more time and resources required, that could be new or interesting in some other way. TY VM for the input !! 👍👍

I agree, trying to please everyone often ends up pleasing no one. This happens a lot in video games and other entertainment forms. I've had similar experiences with Park Tool videos.
