Stare out at window-at far distance obj Don’t wear glasses for at least 30 mins Look out the window Look 20 ft away at chart on door Oil diffuser helps Eye charts everywhere -20ft away-while cooking , standing etc. Sit near windows & look at far distance objects . Small biz card & measure it in cm Keep eyepatch on stronger eye while reading Constantly walking outside When reading - place book at far dist & can wear low dist glasses

For both Matt and Angie. I never thought that anyone could ever get out of -4 and -5 D. I got my sister's kids to wear a plus through the college years - so they would never go below 20/40. So more success is in you. Great credit must be given to Jake for this reduced minus method - and your success.

Hey angie ! Can you please help me , I'm just 14 and my eyesight is worst . I have -4.5 in my right eye and -2.5 in left eye. Can you please suggest me some measures . I miss my eyesight 😐 and I just wanna get my 20/20 eye sight back !! It just sucks when I put my glasses on 🤓

Hi ,i want to give you advice , i had -1 on both eyes and I came across sungazing and i started doing it and after 4 months , I realized my vision got a lot sharper , and i went to get checked by eye doctor and he was actually really surprised and started asking me how I did it (my eyes were improved to -0.50 ) now its 2 month from the last check and i feel like it improved even more ! So if you want something that works you should try sungazing , but do a research about it and read some stories from people , good luck

@@shalusardar1577 I basically came across a some dude that was sungazing and he was talking about benefits and then i researched more about this and i gave it a try. You basically sit on the ground , somewhere where you can see sun directly , and you are just looking straight at the sun , it was uncomfortable for me at the start of my journey but after a week of daily sungazing (be careful tho , you should only sungaze on sunrise or sunset , or both, light isnt that sharp in the eyes and uv isnt yet present at sunrise or sunset). ive got great improvments in my sight and not only that , but i have way more energy , i dont need to sleep that much , and overall i just feel really good. i highly recommend you to try it , you can sungaze for 10 minutes at first and then slowly you can you can procced to look at the sun for a longer time. Now i do between 30 to 60 minutes, and you can take a break if your eyes hurt , mine did but now sun doesnt even blind me.

Excellent. I enjoy your real-time reading of your own Snellen. Now to read 20/40 consistently! You have come a long way. I took a felt tip marker, to label "60, 40, 20" so know exactly what line I was reading - when standing at 20 feet. I am pleased to see you using the plus for reading! That is what I do to move from 20/50 to 20/20. It does take a long time to clear off that last diopter. Congratulations on your success!

An Excellent video! As always, I love to listen to you! Please, no minus lens, if you pass the 20/50 line. I put a 75 Watt bulb on that Snellen. If I confirm 20/40, or better, I would never wear a minus ever again. Prevention is highly personal. I use test minus lenses, as a final verification. Wearing a plus for near, is very wise. I do it to preserve my 20/20 Snellen.

@AngelaHepp
@AngelaHepp 6 жыл бұрын
What Jake does not recommend is careless use or overuse of plus lenses. I have watched all of his videos and read every article on plus lenses on his blog, as well as dozens of posts in the Facebook group, and the general consensus is that plus lens use is fine if it's done judiciously and not looked at as a "quick fix" or substitute for active focus & outdoor distance vision. 😊
@otiebrown9999
@otiebrown9999 6 жыл бұрын
Both Jake and Todd Becker advocate major change in the way we think about the behavior of all natural eyes. I personally agree that these methods are not therapy at all. The plus can only be correctly used, AFTER you confirm you pass the 20/60 line. ( Can stop wearing a minus - by self checking. ) I wear a plus with that type of wisdom, and confirm 20/20. I advocated that my sister's three kids have the self discipline to wear it - and never enter into myopia - in the first place. BOTH Todd and Jake have the correct scientific concept.

As you know Angie I have been closely following your progress with vision improvement for a while now. And you seem to have made considerable progress from when you started doing it. When you started your prescription was what is considered as moderate. Not terribly strong but not real weak either. You were fully dependent on your glasses and wearing them full time from the time you woke up until you were in bed for the night. Since then and by constantly monitoring your vision by checking your using a Snellen eye chart you have reduced your prescription by quite a bit and now your glasses are much weaker and what is considered as weak glasses now and you only wear them as needed. When you do wear glasses you wear glasses that are under correcting your eyesight so that even with glasses on you're forcing your eyes to work on their own. What I found very interesting is your day to day routine that you follow. Instead of waking up and grabbing your glasses right away like you used now you don't put them on at all when you get up. And you purposely go to a window and focus your eyes on some very small details such as the individual logs and the ridgeline of the house quite a ways from your own house. The reason I find that so interesting is because it's exactly the opposite of what I used to tell patients to do when I fitted them with their glasses. Especially if they were their first glasses. I would always recommend that the n ext day after getting their glasses they should put on their glasses as soon as they opened their eyes. The logic was simple because your eyes are the freshest when you first wake up so they are unstrained. And i would tell them to keep their glasses on until they were back in bed later that night. This was so their eyes could better adjust to their glasses. I would recommend that they do this for about a week to 10 days. Then they could decide when they needed to wear their glasses. So it makes sense by doing just the opposite of what I always recommended has made your eyes work on their own more. I'm really impressed that you're able to see with such detail at that distance without any help from glasses. I'm sure when you were wearing glasses full time without your glasses forget about seeing an individual log or the ridgeline all you were able to see was a very blurry house. Theirs no doubt about how serious you are with improving your vision because you have eye charts everywhere in your house so you can check your eyesight almost without thinking about it. The only question I have is doing it so much by now almost have to know what every letter is on the chart by memory. So how are you sure that you're actually able to see each individual letter on the eye chart and just remembering each letter. I'm not accusing you of cheating, at least not on purpose but just because you know the letters on the 20/60 . 20/50, 20/40, 20/30, and 20/20 line. You probably need to print out several different eye charts and put different ones up as well. I like that you're constantly pushing your eyes to see things at a distance which i'm sure is the reason you're seeing the improvement in your vision. You're constantly forcing your eyes to focus and that's a good thing. But by doing that i'm surprised that you don't get headaches from pushing your eyes so hard. You're straining your eyes when you're forcing them to focus on things. Are you able to go a full day without wearing glasses? I would assume that at some point in the day your eyes must get very tired and you need to put your glasses on? Reading! Just curious, back when you were wearing your glasses full time did you keep your glasses on when you were doing close up things such as reading? Unless you have a fair amount of astigmatisms you really should have been taking your glasses off when you were going to be doing any kind of closeup work for more than 30 minutes because you really didn't need your glasses for that at all. And if you were wearing your glasses when doing close up things you were ruining your ability to see close up without glasses because you eyes got used to reading with a prescription in front of them. Reading fine print is a method of inducing myopia so i'm not sure I agree with you with using a patch over your stronger eye so your reading with the weaker one. I'm not so sure that is making that eye any stronger. I really think wearing the readers you got is a much better idea when ever you're going to be doing any type of close work. You're naturally nearsighted so going from minus glasses to plus glasses should help to reverse the minus. You said the readers you got are +1.50 and I assume that you tested which power worked the best for you when you bought them. So I have a feeling that their probably very relaxing to your eyes when reading. Their not going to do any harm to your eyes by wearing them anytime that your reading. When you're on your computer are you wearing your distance glasses or none at all. You may even want to try wearing your reading glasses when you're working at your computer just to see how they work for you. I love the glasses you're wearing in this video. If you got them from Zenni I have ordered that exact pair for a number of young ladies that I get glasses for. They come in the solid black color and in a dark brown with pink on the inside of the frame. You seem to be wearing the solid color one. Actually one of the young ladies that has that exact same pair works at a local sports bar and about 4 months ago she went on a trip over seas for about 3 weeks. During her trip she managed to break her glasses. Glasses that she had for over 6 years. She rarely ever wore them because the lenses were badly scratched and she insisted that she didn't really need them anyway. So when she returned she told me that she was going to go and get her eyes examined so she could have me order her glasses for her. She was very aware that I had fitted nearly every girl working their with their glasses and they all loved their glasses. I showed her glasses from my sample case and she lied the pair like you're wearing but she also went into the Zenni site and picked out another pair that was about $35.00 as a 2nd pair and she picked out a pair that was $40.00 that she wanted made as prescription sunglasses. After she got her glasses she was having a difficult time adjusting to them and insisted that they were too strong for her. I made her go back where she got her eyes examined at and have them check her eyesight again and check the prescription of the glasses as well. She did as i suggested and she said that the doctor told her that her prescription had changed quite bit from what her 6 year old glasses were. The doctor told her that she just needed to wear them so her eye could adjust. That was about 5 weeks ago and now she is wearing the glasses like yours full time now. She says she really loves them and that she gets complemented on her glasses constantly and she even has several of her friends wanting me to order them the same glasses. She admitted that she always hated the idea of wearing glasses but now she really loves wearing glasses and it's a good thing because she says that she can't see without them anymore. She likes her other glasses and wears them too but her favorite pair is the ones that were only $12.95. Now when you were walking and talking about your glasses only correcting you to about 20/50 you pointed out into the distance and said that there was 3 telephone poles in the distance. Honestly I looked hard in your video and I wasn't able to see even one pole and since I had cataract surgery back in June I am seeing 20/15 with both eyes now. I assume that you you meant that you could see those poles with your glasses on of course and with some degree of hard focusing as well. I'm impressed that you could see those poles with your actual vision being only 20/50 with your glasses. With your eyes totally relaxed wouldn't everything that far away only be a blur to you? One of your recent videos you were a bit disappointed because of being pregnant you're eyesight had regressed slightly which can often happen to a woman when she becomes pregnant. You would surprised at how many young women got their first glasses as result of being pregnant. Are you still seeing changes in your eyesight or has it seemed to stop? Currently what is your actual full prescription that you wear when driving or when you need to see perfect?

By the way you really do look very nice wearing glasses. So even if you were to get your eyesight back to a perfect 20/20 I think you still should wear glasses even if they are only for fashion use. Glasses are just a really good look on you.

Yes, I do have the letters on the Snellen memorized, but I measure my progress by whether or not I can see them clearly enough to actually make them out without squinting or straining. I also read them backwards sometimes, or look away and then look back at one particular random letter, and see if I can make it out. Is it "scientific" or 100% accurate? No. But it still gives me a good idea of my progress, combined with my centimeter measurements as well as my ability to see outdoor landmarks with more clarity.

No, I never get headaches. I don't ever feel like I'm "pushing" or "straining" my eyes. In fact, practicing active focus is incredibly relaxing and invigorating. Like an autofocus camera, our eyes are constantly seeking focus. Too little blur challenge and they aren't stimulated to improve. Too much blur and they give up all together, much like a camera. The "Goldilocks" amount of blur challenge and your eyes have to work just a bit to achieve that focus, but when they do, it's an incredibly euphoric feeling. On the contrary, if I put on my old glasses now, I would get an immediate headache. It literally feels like someone is jamming their thumbs into my eyeballs. Can't believe I used to wear them all the time. And yes, of course I used to wear them for both distance and closeup. Every since I first got them at age 7 or so. No optometrist ever told me to only wear them for distance (why would they?), so naturally, wearing them for all closeup caused my myopia to worsen.

Yes, I can see the power poles in the distance with my distance glasses on (the undercorrected ones that put me at 20/50 on my indoor Snellen). I think the big difference is the natural light outside vs the indoor light on the Snellen. And I cannot see the poles when I first look for them (or just barely) but as I blink and let my eyes focus, they come into clarity. In the clips where I'm referring to the fence posts and neighbor's house, yes, I can see the grids on the windows, the logs, even sometimes the lines of the individual roof shingles without my glasses, so with my naked eye.

Since you're checking your eyes so often it would be almost impossible for you not to memorize the letters on the charts. But you're right even knowing which letters is which is okay as long as you're checking for clarity without squinting or straining your eyes. And testing how well you're able to see random letters is also a good idea as well. Really there isn't any better way to test your eyes. The only other thing you could do is go on line and find various eye charts and make copies of them. I'm not sure how you can download and print out. And you're not only testing your eyes with the eye charts but being outside and focusing on things at a distance is a very good way to test your eyes. It may not tell you exactly what your vision is based on which line of the chart you're able to see but you have enough pairs of glasses with various prescriptions in them that you can probably get a fairly close idea about what prescription your eyes need. As you very well know you don't really need to have perfect vision when you're around your house. You don't even have to have perfect vision to drive your car. You only need for your vision to be no worse than 20/40 to be considered as safe. I'm sure that your driver's license has a restriction on it anyway so even if you do improve your eyesight to the point where your vision is somewhere between 20/20 and 20/40 you're still going to have to wear glasses anyway since your driver's license has that restriction on it. So i know that you would never do it but actually as long as you're wearing glasses when you're driving even if your only wearing the glasses you have on in your video that still only corrects your vision to 20/50 you would be the only one that would know that you need to be wearing stronger glasses. If you were to get pulled over for speeding the cop isn't going to test your eyes or your glasses as long as you're wearing glasses. Now i'm not saying that you should ever do this but if you did you would be the only one that would know. So I was surprised to see you testing your close up vision as well as your distance vision. Had you gotten so dependent on your glasses that you could no longer read without your glasses?
