I just want to note that I am not saying winter is a horrible season in fact, I used to enjoy winter every year. I am a huge ice skating fanatic and used to love to snowboard and play in the snow with my kids. Just saying how winter was for me as a visually impaired person. Perhaps down the road a few years from now I will find a way to enjoy Winters again. However, until then it just was not for me as a visually impaired individual. Thanks for watching everybody.

This winter totally blew! Previous winters, having to drive in the dark and rain would stress me out, and me and my fellow stressed coworkers in a hospital rotation would be counting down the days until winter solstice so we could celebrate the daylight hours getting longer again. This winter was a totally new set of stressors -- not able to work, no emergency fund due a burst appendix ON my actualy birthday in the summer, almost lost my cat to a respiratory infection, and a bunch of forms to fill out. I always enjoy the spring, but this year even moreso because I got to start growing plants, and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather after the longest winter in the history of all winters, ever! That's my vent. :) Enjoyed your vid, and hope you milk the heck out of being a VIP at the golf course. I'm talking migraine-inducing combinations of patterns and colours of golfing attire! :)

Well that's a whole lot to go through in one winter. Just think we will be outside the warm sun beating on our backs just digging it away at the gardens. We will have our tall glass of ice and lemonade with a little hint of something something ported the top. While listening to graphic audio. LOL Spring summer is going to be so nice.

Summer is my nemesis. About 10 years ago, the sun and I have established that we absolutely hate each other, and our acrimonious relationship is only getting worse. 🤣🤣 I moved to Seattle because of the reputation of gloomy and gray skies most of the year. Somebody done told me wrong! It’s not even a quarter into Spring, and the sun is already being a fired up douchebag to me. Hot and bright. I’m more of a winter person now. Have been since I was in my mid teens. When I was a kid, I loved the summer as my heat tolerance was better, my eyes functioned normally, my birthday kicked off the season and best of all, summer vacation! Decades later, I look forward to the winter for almost the same reasons, except my birthday, and my eyes are jacked up.

You always know the right things to say. LOL Well I hope that you and the Sun figure things out before your divorce happens. I would hate to see your relationship with son blow up. It would be a very dark day if that was to happen for all of us. LOL

Yes sir, winter blows! I tend to feel down in the winter also. Actually my vitamin D is low, which affects my moods. I plan spending a lot of time in the sun this spring and summer. Hopefully learn to grill again! Great video!
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about the vitamin D. I just bought a brand new bottle of liquid vitamin D Drops. Works so much better than tablets. Believe it or not the gel capsules counteract themselves because the material they make the jaw casing out of affects the vitamin D itself from entering the body. At least that's what the doctor says. So sometimes some people don't get the vitamin D they need even when taking those vitamin D horse pills. LOL so I started drops works great. I will find out really when I get my next blood work. I'm happy someone else feels the same way I do about mood swings in the winter. Cannot wait to get out in the sun do some outdoor stuff.

Hey Vinny, living in Alabama I have to admit we do not have winters like New Hampshire or even places like New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I am able to go outside and walk easily since there’s no snow and usually on the coldest days here you don’t even need gloves unless you will be outside for a few hours. I did live in Nebraska for two years when my two girls were small and my vision was about 20/400. I had enough side to walk them to their neighborhood school and meet them at school each afternoon to walk home making a total of about 3 miles per day. This was through snow and ice and cold cold wind but I didn’t last there very long, like I said two winters. I find, in my case, even now, when the ground and surfaces are completely covered with snow, I am able to see buildings, houses, trees, vehicles because they are sat with a white background giving me high contrast. But now, I am not as light sensitive as I was in the past so the white snow does not irritate my brain as much. It sounds like you are going to have an awesome spring and summer and there is no reason you can’t do all of those things you are looking forward to doing. A fenced in yard will be great because it allows you to set up boundaries that you don’t have to patrol with your vision. Gardens are awesome and I had a friend once who had the most awesome garden I have ever seen and he was completely blind. Anyway great video Vinny!

Thank you very much Beverly. I'm sure I will be able to figure out how to do all those things as well. I just always tend to surprise myself thinking I can do something and then try and find out it's just too much of a pain in my butt. I always get frustrated and walk away. However, I always come back till I finish the job. Someway somehow. I want to make a decent Garden for my wife. Nothing too extravagant but very nice. Also I read your other comment and I agree with you. I think I should just buy a whole bunch of guide dogs enjoying a sled dog race. LOL But being serious, I think I have too much vision currently for a guide dog. Where I live I hear that the best guide dogs are not really even dogs they are mini horses. Guide dogs tend to get bored when you live in a rural area and they will retire early. But they say miniature ponies too.. So they use a more for country or rural areas. And I guess they live longer too. But I love my dog now Lakota is his name and he's the best dog I've ever owned. I don't think I would have the heart to order another one after him.

I always thought a person had to be pretty completely blind to qualify for a guy dog. When my evaluator flew to Alabama to walk around my town with me however, she explained that there are many many students who have A lot of residual vision and sometimes they are required to wear dark sunglasses while training just to block out their vision. One of my fellow students could see all the way across the room to read the print on my sweatshirt. So there are many different visual acuity’s in the guide dog training. Just saying, don’t rule anything out. LOL!
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
@@bamablind9916 I agree. 2 months ago we were visited by a gentleman from New York. He was the head of the guide dog training over there in that state. He told us you only need to be legally blind on the chart to get a dog. And I understand a lot of people do it because they know that they are going to have future sight loss and they want to be prepared. I just know though I don't get out enough for a guide dog. I also feel that there is only so many dogs better purposely trained for people who need them I do not want to take away from those who truly need the dog. If I got the dog it would honestly pee sitting in my house more than walking outside. And when we did go outside they would be the same beaten path each and every day. No traffic, no street lights just stop signs here and there. That dog would probably retire without a month. LOL But again never know I might end up bonding one one day. Till then I will stick to my lazy lab I love very very much. He is more like a tripping Stone the big eyed dog. He always lays behind me and does not move and I trip over him daily.

Well, thank you very much. I cannot wait for spring to be in full bloom minus the allergies that come with it. But I'd rather tolerate allergies that all that unbearableness this winter. I am sure I will find ways to enjoy winter down the road but this last went there just was not for me. Just wait for my next video it's going to be different than any of the rest I have made yet.

Great video! Honestly before vision loss winter was my favorite time of year. I used to love looking out at the snow and the beautiful white winter landscape. But I have to be honest the snow and going outside with that blanket of snow or even looking out a window it hurts my eyes and I honestly am not finding anything good about the snow. Using my cane in the snow is not a fun neither it makes it difficult to navigate. As far as feeling like I don't get outside I make it out once or twice a week at the most so I'm not sure spring arriving is going to help that any. But there's always hope! So I'm affirming that springtime brings more beauty to my life even though I can't enjoy the spring flowers like I once did. I remember when we moved into the apartment I live in now we had flowers all around our patio and I enjoyed sitting on the patio and being able to enjoy the colors of the flowers can't do that anymore but I can enjoy the warmer weather because I'm definitely ready to put my winter coat away for the season. Thanks for the video

This was only my first winter as a completely visually impaired individual. So who knows I might find ways to enjoy the winter down the road. Just my eyes do not like winter as of right now. And if you're like me at all you always have your dreams and perfect color and with perfect vision. I am a truly Vivid Dreamer and I enjoy my dreams most of the time. Try to get yourself out as much as possible. It's good for us. Thank you for the awesome comment.

Hey Vincent I live in Florida so I don't really have a winter here. I'm glad I moved here before I lost my vision. I got good news today I finally got accepted into my local association for the blind. My counselor is supposed to call me tomorrow to set up my first meeting. So now I can get mobility training and so much more. I am going to the Daytona Comic Con on the thirteenth so I have a favor to ask. How do I make a light saber cane it would be so cool to go with one. I'm so excited things are looking up.

You should look me up on Facebook or messenger. I can chat with you on messenger and explain it to you. But I am in the process of making the video now. I got good news as well. I got a new Canon SL2 camera. Cannot wait to start filming my episodes on that. It's a awesome camera for KZbin. I am truly so happy that you got in the association for the blind. Now, you will be able to see a low vision specialist. They will get you a CCTV and tons of other things for free through your state. Take full advantage because it's all there to help you. I am in the works right now with my low vision therapist. She came to my house and showed me so many cool things. All things that Sam from the blind life has done reviews on. It was pretty awesome to get to see all that in person. I am going to make a video on this subject I just wanted more material before making the video. So it's a waiting game on that one. Again I am so happy for you.

Sorry Vinny, it’s Beverly again, just thinking, there could be a seeing eye dog in your future! When I went to New Jersey for my training there were 16 of us in the class and I believe only three of us lived in climates where there was no snow. Four of the 16 students lived in Canada and this tells me that Guide dogs must be an excellent tool for mobility in snow. Just saying. LOL!

Hi Vincent, it must be very frustrating for you. But i really dont love the spring and absolutely NOT summer. Weigh to hot. I melting like a icecream. Even in the winter i take cold shower because i cant sleep because i am 100 degrees. 🤣🤣🤣. Pffff i live in the wrong part of the world. Here in the netherlands we dont have any winters. So frustrating. I hope you can enjoy your life more and more. I am not visually impaired and walking through the snow is difficult for me. And i guess that VIP’s and blind people are having difficulties to find their ways, because the snow and ICE covers all the known landmarks. And the slippy underground is never funny. But freeze without snow is good to me too. I dont need snow just freeze. Yeah and Some snow on Christmas. Maybe you can leanrn how to deal with snow. Its was youre first winter so i understand you know anything now. But maybe inventually you learn to cope with your visionloss. It takes time. Love sabrina

This was an awesome comment. Thank you so much for your insightful words. And you're funny too. I used to love snow and winter never did I like driving in it though. I live in the Northern Hemisphere so you would think I would have learned to love it by now. It's just that my first year as a visually impaired person I could not stand the winter. Too many variables went against me liking the winter. LOL But exactly like you said I'm still a newbie when it comes to vision loss. So down the road who knows maybe I'll be in the Winter Olympics. Hehehe
