My favourite Watercolors are the Schmincke Horadam. Luckily, there are easy to obtain here in Germany. Both Schmincke and Daniel Smith use the same formula for tubes and pans, so there is no difference in quality when you refill your pans from the tube. Unlike Sennelier where the tubes have a different formula with quite some honey in it and there is even some difference in the colors tube versus pan. Oh, and don‘t forget to use your good supplies, life is too short to waste it with using cheap art supplies!

Aww thank you for watching the video and for the extra information. I love the Schmincke set and when I visit Germany I’ll definitely be coming home with some more. They are very expensive in the uk and so are the DS but you are right, I must use them otherwise it’s a waste

I live in the US and Daniel Smith paints and pretty inexpensive here so most of my paints are Daniel smith and I just got haywire with them...BUT Schmincke is wildly expensive here, so the colors I have are barely used bc its like painting with gold.. lol...basically I 100 percent understand....So interesting how paints vary around the world. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

That old winsor & Newton palette ( the first one you displayed) is nice. It was the first watercolor palette I ever had. Yes, there is a great deal of wasted space in the actual palette where one could have put more colors, but quite honestly, one shouldn't need more colors. Is gladly sacrifice the more colors for the extra mixing wells. Depending on how one paints it is an excellent palette. Especially for washes in the field. It's the only travel palette I've ever had that accommodated washes. Pull out the tray, make and use your wash, wipe it out, close and there ya go. You still have six other wells for mixing. I sprayed my wells with enamel paint though.

I love the tube paints by Daniel Smith but I agree about the paint sticks….you can cut them into 5 1/2 pans or three whole pans.

@@TammyNewmanArt i am in the states i got 12 1/2 pans for 19 usd and the 24 1/2 pans for 42 usd to me all art supplys seem expensive espeasally cotton paper

Aww that’s not to bad then. Yes the cotton watercolour paper is expensive, I managed to get an Arches roll in a sale and that’s much better value for money

Yeah, I find availability and pricing really depends on location and if you're getting stuff online or in stores. If you do have a chance to get them I hope you love them as much as I do.
