@@indiabatson26 I think a layered haircut would look good on my hair, because it's quite similar to yours, but I'm not sure. Yours looks fabulous though!!! What is your texture, density and porosity?

If you have wavy hair, you should either get it cut wet or straightened. So that however you wear it, it looks good. And be careful with cutting your layers or hair too short, because it may make your curls kinda disappear...some people with wavy hair, once you cut your hair, your waves/curls won't be long enough to do their thing, essentially. If you have spirals only at the end of your hair, and you cut it, those spirals may just disappear, not bounce up like you think they will, because they lost their "family." Just something to consider. Hope this helps!

That's is the opposite of what I do with my wavy hair, if I let it long without enough short layers the spirals go just from the middle but triangle down. Cutting it short or with short layers makes it less heavy, and the spirals go up with more volume on the root, so more curly and less triangle. Also cutting dry and being able to see the natural patterns of my waves also help. But I get your point about cutting it wet if the person only uses the hair straightened, so the cut will look good that way

Wrong advice for my wavy to curly hair. Just did that straightened and then cut thing and it's awful. This at the best salon in town. With the hairdresser who is booked months out. No such thing as "one size fits all" advice for hair.

Wrong, never cut wavy or curly hair wet or straightened because it will look horrible. When it's cut wet, it will shrink a lot, so it will be much shorter than expected. When it's cut straightened, it will also look horrible because it's only a look that will work if the person gets their hair straightened and won't look good once the hair curls. Deva hair salons which are specialized in wavy and curly hair cut the hair dry without any products.

I cut my hair myself. Have done so for 10 years now after the last straw of hairdressers not respecting the huuurrr and the wishes of their client. I wanted to keep the hair as long as possible, she cut it 30cm. I wanted my curls and waves respected, and they wanted to *gasp* straighten the hair and they just blow-dried it and did a brushing and so I ended with 0 waves or curls for the next two days and my hair was the shortest it had been since I was like 14? I was NOT happy. I cut my hair with the hair tie method and on dampish hair too and it looks GOOD. I will never put another foot in a salon. Nothing against hairdressers, because there are a lot of good ones out there, but I'm not paying 25€ min. to get a haircut I can do myself, where I have 100% control and using the products I wanna use.

I hate haircuts. I don't brush my hair and when I get a haircut they cut it as if I wear my hair straight and combed. So it's looks even and nice when they're doing it at the salon, but not when I style it! I'll have hair underneath poking out so it looks super uneven because obviously my hair shrinks up into curls and waves. I've resorted to dry cuts because no matter what I tell hairstylists, they don't listen. Sigh. 😔

I hear you. My hair is wavy and very dense, and it's hard finding a stylist who not only understands how to cut hair in a way that flatters wavy/curly textures, but also one that understands that for dense hair, layering just isn't enough to alleviate the weight and add bounce back to the waves/curls. I have no other choice but to get a professional haircut, because dense hair can get really uncomfortable after a while, but I usually either end up arguing with the stylist to get them to cut more layers, or going back a week later to show them how flat everything still is just to have them tell me that there isn't much else that they can do. I only recently found a stylist who does dry cuts.

I know this is foreign to many people, but try some light trimming yourself when it's dry and fixed like you want it. Then expand on that a little at a time, stopping before you think and seeing how you like it. I've been cutting my own hair for 35 years and also have people ask me who I go too. It's not as hard as one would think and I save over a hundred and fifty dollars four times a year, coloring, cutting and highlighting myself. I can do it whenever I want and don't have to work around someone else schedule. It's very empowering and then I also get to buy a nice piece of jewelry or art supplies.

Had both wet and dry cuts. The only real difference is shrinkage. A wet cut can come out shorter sometimes. A good stylist should be able to cut your hair either way. I do think curly girls cut curls the best.

My best friend is my hairdresser and she cuts my hubby’s curls as well. We both have the same curl type as you have and she cuts us wet as well and uses the same technique. She knows her stuff. I get weird looks for getting wet cuts too, but for both my husband and I it works too.

I get my haircut as a wet cut and prefer this to the dry haircut because my layers are much more even and consistent. I find that my layers are very uneven with the dry haircut 💇🏻‍♀️.

I've never gotten a professional dry hair cut, the closest to that was me cutting my bangs and some struggly pieces on my own, they've been always been wet cuts, but my stylist has very similar hair to me and I'd only trust her haha hope you have a great weekend too! But for some questions: You did not show her entire process... Does she dry & style it for you? If yes, how? Also, it pretty much **looks like** she's just doing your basic wet long layers cut. Am I correct? Or is there something she does slightly different for someone who regularly blows straight as opposed to someone like yourself, who mostly wears it wavy-natural? What you said about shrinkage, that happened to me, though the girl who cut my hair that time isn't a hair stylist, she went to school for it but she probably didn't learn about curly hair, so she cut my hair, even wet was too short, and then, the shrinkage 😭 after three years I'm still trying to grow my hair how it was, and I need to cut it every few months and it's always the same length 😑

So now my hair is ridiculously short and… worst of all - It looks like there are only threw strands of hair (okay, an exaggeration) but my hair looks so thin.
