Considering the maintenance on the F80, I'd say Type R. Aside from brakes, type R maintenance is same $ as everyday Civic.

I think the best option when wanting to drive enthusiastically, would be putting everything in +R mode, But the dampers in comfort. So everything is running at 10, But you're not getting beat up. Luckily the roads here in South Florida are smooth as silk, with no potholes, so this car would be perfect here... And since they're finally selling for around MSRP, I'm most likely getting one... Or a base 2025 M2. Of course the M2 is a lot more money, but it's also a lot more car, in terms of looks and performance and luxury. Still not quite as special and rare as the type R tho... I can afford either one, just don't know if the extra almost 20k is worth the M2 over the type R

Great choices, I think it comes down to whether you prefer front wheel drive or rear drive, and price too

You can switch the color of the car in the LogR screen to match your car's color. Just gotta go into the settings menu.

Getting ready to get myself a 2025 type R. You sound like someone who might already own one or is very familiar with the car. My question is when putting it in individual mode, and having everything set to plus R mode, but the dampers in comfort, can I still have the S2000 type RPM gauge displayed? The one that goes horizontally from left to right? Or is that only available in full R mode
@vlj11333 ай бұрын
@@Daveyboy_RS3 Yes, I own a 2024 FL5 in Boost Blue Pearl. Yes, you can use the Individual mode to choose the +R gauges display and pair it with any of the five other Individual mode options. You do not have to be in full +R mode in order to use the +R gauges screen. There are three main gauges options: Comfort, which has yellow needles against a black circular background, with blue backlighting; Sport, with yellow needles against a red circular background, with black backlighting; +R, which you already know. Additionally, there are a couple of other obscure options that you will likely never want or use. They involve ditching the gauges entirely, replacing them with a plain bar graph on either side of an empty black screen.

@@vlj1133 awesome... Thanks very much for the detailed reply. I used to have an AP1 S2000 back in the early 2000s and I enjoyed that bar graph type RPM gauge. Great to know that I can have it on while in individual mode. 95% sure I'm getting the type R... I'm also considering an M2, but it's almost 20k more. I can afford either one, but not sure if the M2 is that much better of a daily than the Type R. Especially here in South Florida, where both would be great All year round since we get no snow, and especially since the roads are super smooth everywhere down here, with zero potholes. Great place to have a driver's car. Thanks a lot for the reply. I do believe that having a Civic type R and taking it out would always feel like an event. And doesn't seem like it would ever get boring, unlike my MK7 golf R which was a blast at first, but after a while, it was just a good car, But I wasn't excited to drive it anymore. I feel like the type R Will always be fun and exciting, just like an M2 would I'm sure. Thanks again

@@Daveyboy_RS3 I debated between a Type R and an M240i, not a full-blown M2, before choosing the Type R. I found the M240i to be rather sterile, exceedingly heavy, and...kinda boring? It felt like I was driving a bank vault. Incredibly buttoned down and solid, to be sure, but, christ, you have to be doing triple digits before you begin to feel ANYTHING in that beast. At normal (fast) street speeds, it's very much a claustrophobic/sensory deprivation experience. Plus, the cost. There's the additional purchase price, of course, and BMW maintenance vs Honda maintenance down the road is a no-brainer for the Type R. Additionally, to get the specific M240i that I wanted I was going to have to order it and wait for six months. No waiting, with the Type R. There's nothing to specify with the Honda. No picking and choosing between endless options and packages. Simply choose your color, and go find one. The Type R resale value is also significantly stronger than the BMW's. I can't imagine the M2 being better than the M240i on the street. On the track, definitely, but not on the street. Its hp advantage only exacerbates the issue of needing to go stupid fast before you feel like you're actually doing anything. On the flipside, at least you can get a six-speed manual with the M2, but it's nowhere near as good as the manual in the Type R. If you want a manual that's on the Type R's level, your only options are your old S2000, a current Miata, or a high-end Porsche. You aren't getting there with the M2.

Great video. Thanks to Honda for giving you this. Ask them for a Acura Type S manual. That would be great to compare the two

Yes Hyundai n is good value. Will get your money back on resale with Honda . Hyundai and Kias rep has been bad lately but I’ve not heard of any big problems with the type N

I would take the new Honda over the used BMW although i don't like the red seats on this one. It's a good value but the low ground clearance is always an issue for me especially during the northeastern winters.

I can't imagine buying a ultra high performance car used. Even if the mileage is reasonably low, The odds are that the person who had it before you drove it like they stole it. So if the M3 is a 2017 for example, with only let's say 50,000 miles, You're not only spending a fortune on regular maintenance, but now you're starting to have minor failures here and there, coil packs, window regulator, AC compressor, etc etc, And it just never ends. I've been there, I have done it, and I would never do it again. If a person can't afford a high performance German engineered vehicle brand new, then they shouldn't get it used. Unless you're getting it just slightly used with a couple thousand miles on it, which is actually a good idea cuz you avoid the initial 10-15% depreciation after it was driven off the lot.
