I’m Japanese n Chinese born in Japan, but my family and o move in the early 70s to America. I used to speak both Chinese and Japanese and in my generation, since I didn’t grow up with other Asians, I in order to fit in, avoided everything asian (back then being asian wasn’t cool). Now looking back, I wish I held on to my culture and still spoke both Chinese and Japanese So it’s easier in these times to be asian in America and please don’t get whitewashed and fall for that American baloney and hold on to your culture. For Asians, no matter how good you are in your craft, when your Asian, Americans will never look at you as an equal. I now wish my parents never moved here and I stayed in Japan. Japan and now China is some of the countries that now don’t need to move to America for a better life. Why be in a country where you are not accepted and don’t really fit in and live in a country that’s more civilized and everything is made for the asian person in mind bc they are 95% of the population and the majority.
