Its all fun and games until you lose the damn thing and find out the batteries in the back EXPLODED sometime within the span of over a decade, and you find it years later with dried acid on the back. into the trash compactor it went sadly... such is life.

I was around for the original gameboy lol. I was able to buy 1 almost brand new looking besides a small smear on the screen A few months ago with 6 games some classics too like NBA jam...Zelda....Mario and 3 others . Got the original carry case as well all for 10 bucks . Even growing up in the beginning of Nintendo...I think the ds is the best overall handheld as far as games goes. But the gba comes in 2nd for sure .

I definitely feel some of this. As a kid I was the only person I knew who liked and talked about video games until I was in 8th grade, so I had to either do my own research and bought a lot of weird stuff along the way, or miss out on a lot of stuff that everyone now is like "this is required gaming." Now that I have my own money I've been trying really hard to go back and pick up things that I wanted as a kid but never had the chance.

I love game collections like these. Yes, it’s cool seeing people with a million shelves lined with all the greatest games, but smaller collections tend to have more character and reflect on games you played when you were younger/less in tune with collective gaming opinions

watching this video was comforting to me in a weird way. retro games are a safe place to me- can't explain how wonderful it is to sink into my old games and just relax. but navigating how to find and obtain older games and consoles? an absolute nightmare to my abnormal little brain! i end up adding maybe one or two games to my collection a YEAR- and i've never worked myself up to looking for a console i don't already own. just seeing and hearing about so many old games collected is wonderfully comforting in a way i don't get to often experience

My town has a lot of places where old games are sold. The ones near me have so many retro consoles in there and I was able to find a Japanese copy of Pokemon Red and Japanese Kirby's Dreamland 2 both for 20$. It may be hard to find where to look, but once you find them, then they seem to always have new stuff!

I wasn't alive in the GBC's heyday, but there are so many strange oddities and good games on the system that sound interesting to me. It's crazy how you own many variations of the same console too! I have a really strange and unusual video game related collection myself (random Pokemon toys, games for consoles I don't have, Capcom figurines, Chicken Shoot, etc.) and loved seeing that I wasn't the only one with this kind of collection. Also as a side note, the Sailor Moon stuff is really cool.

I still remember going into a pawn shop-like store where they also sold a lot of games and consoles and whatnot when I was like 5 or 6, and my parents bought me a teal GameBoy Color, Pokemon Silver, Metroid II: Return of Samus, and Tetris. Sadly I don't have any of them anymore, but I've been trying to slowly get some more stuff like that from when I was a kid, and I've gotten Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Crystal, so I still feel super nostalgic when I play those.

That bit about tearing off the labels of the pokemon games as an attempt to avoid being bullied for the games you played honestly hits really close to home for me. I remember around when HGSS were new, I was in middle school where, for one reason or another, boys, including myself, were obsessed with growing up. Because of this, anything that was considered childish was seen as degenerate and you were made fun of for enjoying it. This developed such a bizarre complex in me where I was ashamed to like the games I did. It got so bad that I couldn't even say "Nintendo" without cringing at myself. I tried to force myself to leave my favorite games and to enjoy "normal games" like Call of Duty and Halo, but of course I always ended up coming back to my true favorites but because of the constant bullying, I would never tell anyone what I enjoyed and easily got embarrassed whenever I spoke about games because I was self-conscious about how much time I spent playing video games instead of being social. Yet part of the reason I spent so much time doing that was because I was too afraid to just be myself because being myself led to me being bullied relentlessly. I remember putting my pokewalker on my belt loop like it was advertised and then looking at myself and feeling my heart sink. I thought I looked so stupid, so I quickly just crammed the thing into my pocket instead to try and hide it. Then one day in gym class, I was changing clothes in the locker room when it fell out of my pocket and I got in trouble (my school had very strict rules against electronic devices). I remember feeling so ashamed when everyone around me started making fun of me for still playing Pokemon. That was just one example, too. Middle School was easily the roughest time of my life.

I'm only 1 and a half minutes in, and I have a lot to say already! Like wow, you owned the DS Browser too? You have Pokémon Typing adventure! Did you like it? Why do you have 3 copies of Pokémon Black 2? And can I have 1? Lol What you said about how your collection came to be is the exact same story for me as well. Not having a lot of games growing up, buying lots as I got older to explore the games I missed out on, going for the weird/intriguing stuff, things being cheaper and more available back then, and being drawn to older games for the kind of charm they hold above modern games. I've found some pretty neat discoveries over the years! Maybe I should do a video like this too? Maybe? 😝 *Continues watching* To this day, the only Gameboy line games I've owned that have had their batteries die are Pokémon titles, and that excludes the Gen I games. I have no idea how they've all lasted this long but I'm really happy, they could be hanging on by a thread for all I know, ready to die any time soon but when that happens I think I may just let them be, idk? I don't really make much time to play my old games anymore, not because I don't like them or have beat them, but because I have so many games now and get so easily lost in the present. Because while I'm still chasing the past (the old games I've still yet to find, play, and lose myself in), great games are happening in the present that come and go in the blink of an eye. Like Skyrim for instance. I bought a physical copy for PC when it was new. I still haven't put that disc into my PC yet, and have not experienced Skyrim. There is just so much entertainment in this world that I can't get through it all. Not even my hand picked selection. With quarantine going on you'd think I have more time now than ever, but the strange truth is that I don't feel affected. I was a shut in before and still am now, and I've had no disruptions to my work schedule as I work in retail. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have a job! I just don't know when I'll find the time to get through the games I really want to give attention to.

I love these kinds of videos and I was wondering if you'd ever consider doing one of your own so this was a nice surprise. Seeing your collection, it makes me wish that I was able to hold on to more of my old gaming stuff as well and I mean, I do still have some of my old games from childhood but things like my Yellow Game Boy Color, our original PS1, original copy of Pokemon Red, Gold and a few of my other GBC & GBA games? I sadly lost them all in storage and my father ended up losing the storage unit back in 2014 before we could go back to retrieve anything we may have wanted to hold onto (The struggles of moving to a different state amirite? LOL). So I get really envious but happy when I see other gamers able to hold onto their original games & consoles that mean a lot to them. I totally feel you on preferring to having game boxes than not having them at all. There's just something so sentimental and beautiful about having old game boxes to decorate your shelves with! Of course then you have to worry about running out of room but hey, acceptable difficulties right? Something I can say that I did hold onto were a lot of my old game manuals. Like I used to be obsessed with keeping game manuals from every game I got and thankfully, I kept a lot of the ones I had for the GBA in this old tub box that I still have today that I keep in my closet haha. I think it's cool that you managed to keep and find so many GBC games. I don't know why but whenever I see those old GBC cartridges, I get this big rush of nostalgia, especially because those kinds of catridges don't really exist anymore, it's truly a relic of it's time though you could say that about the GBA cartridges as well. Anyway I'm done yammering and nerding out, don't want to make a wall of text like I can be prone to doing but this was a fun video, thanks for sharing!

The Tamagotchi game you have is based upon the Osutchi/Mesutchi set... When the two units are raised to adulthood, you can link them together and breed them... There are close to ten different Tamagotchi games for Nintendo consoles... There are: Tamagotchi (Game Boy, Super Game Boy compatible, based off the first two generations, first game I killed the battery on) Tamagotchi 2 (Game Boy, may work with Super Game Boy 2, based on the Forest and Ocean Tamagotchi versions, Japanese only) The Osutchi/Mesutchi game you have (Game Boy Color, unknown Game Boy/Super Game Boy 2 compatibility, Japanese only) Tamagotchi Corner Shop (DS, Mini-game based, the Tamagotchi you pick has games themed around them, multiple save slots available so you can play all games without having to lose your progress) Tamagotchi Corner Shop 2 (DS) Tamagotchi Corner Shop 3 (DS) An N64 Tamagotchi game (Japanese only) Tamagotchi Party On! (Wii, may be like Mario Party, but Tamagotchi-themed) These were the ones I could think of off the top of my head, they are relatively inexpensive, too...

The Gameboy Colour was the first system that was 100% mine. We had a Playstation, Gameboy Pocket and Megadrive but we kind of shared those. Eventually the Playstation was basically mine! Anyway it was my first system and until this year I had one Gameboy Colour game, Pokemon Gold. (I also had a second copy at one point but now I have neither.) I got Monster Rancher Battle Card GB for it this year and finished too. I loved the sequel on the Playstation so I always wondered what the first game was. The sequel is much better but it's still cool to have finally played it all those years later. Before I had Pokemon Gold I played Pokemon Yellow on it and I didn't know until years later that the game worked on the original Gameboy! Anyway, awesome to see another Tamashi video. KZbin kind of buried your videos from my sight for a while but I seem to be getting notified again. :)

Yo, I would definitely love to watch you play Ham-Hams Unite!, whether prerecorded or live. One of my favorite GB games ever.

Your collection is amazing! I own most of the things u displayed too lolz it looks like my room. I have conserved all forms of portable gaming from when i was a kid (born '92), so my room looks like a museum. Especially w pokemon from the OG days

I wish I had known about these cool ways to save your data from old games, I was devastated when I booted up my Pokemon Silver a few years ago and found that my file was gone along with the hundreds of hours I spent on it and all my very first pokemon. At least I know about them now thanks to the video

As sentimental I am to my clear purple GBC and playing Crystal and Wario Land 2, I'm so glad to get to relive these games on the 3DS without having to worry about the AA batteries dying.

Support for the gameboy is stronger than before. You need an everdrive, and there are new backlit screens you can buy.

Oh man, that Lime green and Chrystal combo takes me back to 2001 when I was 7. I remember that during my first ever playthrough. When instructed by the officer to spell out the name of the rival. I left the space as ???. So it was like that for the entire game. I'm better than that now. . .

I went on a gbc craze for a while since it was so nostalgic, ended up getting a pretty good deal on a sakura taisen edition gbc. That's probably the rarest thing I got.

An ebay user sells REALLY nice reproduction boxes for the gameboy games. I bought them recently and while a little pricey, they're extremely nice!

I have way too many Game Boy games, most found for dirt cheap in a second hand store or Japanese versions. But it's a fun system and very nostalgic since I spent most of my childhood playing only Nintendo handheld games.

My Game Boy collection is pretty eclectic too. :) I got my first Game Boy in 1994 (Link's Awakening bundle) and still have a lot of my games from when I was a kid, complete with the boxes, but that isn't what makes it "eclectic." ;) Like other enthusiasts, I got stuff like the Mega Memory Card and Game Shark Pro but I took it a step further and got stuff like the GB Camera printer transfer cable, the Gold Zelda special limited edition GB camera, the Bung Doctor GB Card and Game Boy Exchanger, the Playstation Multi Xchanger with Game Boy slot, the Singer Izek Game Boy Color sewing machine with Sewing Machine Operation Software cartridge (Jaguar JN-100 with "Raku x Raku Mishin" in Japan), and so much more. When I went to Japan a few years ago I ended up coming back with everything from a Super Game Boy 2 to GBC Dance Dance Revolution complete in box (with custom controller attachment for GBC).

A lot of games came and went from my collection growing up but the thought of selling or trading in my small collection of GameBoy games never crossed my mind. Though unfortunately, my old GameBoy Color is no longer in my possession.

The Rite Aid games thing is so weird because this year I found a sealed Mary Kate and Ashley game for the GBA in Rite Aid. It was more expensive than it was on Ebay so I didn't get it. You always see this stuff at Rite Aid it's so weird
