Congrats! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I am enrolling in January. Would you mind sharing how many hours per week you set aside for school? How many units were required for your MA program?

Hi Ranita! Congrats on starting your journey! In which program will you be enrolling? Because I completed most of my program in the summer and do not work full-time during that period as a teacher, my schedule looks very different. But let me share with you the details; you may find some information helpful. When I started in May, school was still in session, so I actually was working full-time at that time. I was able to complete one course during that period within 2 weeks (Finite Mathematics). My basic schedule during that time was that I would study for 30 minutes to 1 hour in the morning, during many of my lunch breaks at work (~30 minutes), and after work for at least an hour or two. During the weekends, I typically put in at least a few hours a day but sometimes entire full-time study (6-8 hours/day) depending on where I was in my lessons. So that is about 8-15ish hours per week. There was almost a month-long lag after that because at lot of personal things came up, so I did not complete my next class until a month later. By then, summer had started, so I was able to catch up a lot. In the summer, I would put in full-time study days almost every day. I'd wake up early in the morning and study until lunch, then I'd return and study into the evening. I occasionally took breaks as needed too. I basically treated my studies as a full-time job though, since my part-time work was extremely flexible in the summer (delivery driver, modeling). Once school started back up in the fall, I had already completed everything except the Capstone, so I was able to spend August through October just putting all of my effort into that. For the Capstone, I usually worked all weekend full-time on the project while sometimes doing a couple hours of work one to two times a week as needed. It was more than enough time to create a quality product. I'd say the timing worked out perfectly, transitioning from research methods courses into the capstone project based at my school. There were 30 credit hours in my program. I hope you find this information helpful! If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

vmcmv Thanks for that detailed reply! Yes, that helps. I work full-time from home and also homeschool my kids, so I wanted to have a comparison to use as a guide. I plan to also put in 15 hours a week if possible. I am applying to the. BA Interdisciplinary Studies K-8 program. It requires 120 units, but I am hoping to complete in two years. Congrats again! And thanks so much for sharing :)

That is wonderful that you homeschool! I plan to do that as well when the time comes. 120 units in 2 years is definitely doable. All the best! :)

Hey I've been considering WGU and hope you could answer a few questions: if you choose several courses for your first term but don't finish them all by the time you are supposed to, are you able to register for the same courses next term? I'm assuming you can. How long does it typically take to finish a course?
@hello3angel
@hello3angel 6 жыл бұрын
Anehta007 If you don't finish a course within the term, it will be bumped over to the next term. Of course, you will also be discussing these details with your student mentor. S/he will guide you through the process. Also, be mindful of the number of credits you were able to complete for that term. If not completing that course drops you below the minimum number of credits, that could result in negatively affecting factors such as scholarship eligibility. Hope that helps!

My undergrad experience was a mix. I started out studying violin performance at Juilliard for a year and then studied music and psychology at Northwestern U. for three years. Never finished music, but received B.A. in psych.
