Can you transfer courses from this uni to a regular school? Eg I get my degree there will their certificate transfer to a state university for a masters?

Each school has different requirements for transfer credits, so you’ll have to contact each school individually about what credits they are able to accept for transfer from your transcripts.

How does the M.A.T. degree work if your undergraduate degree is not in the field you want to teach.? For instance if your B.S. is in business , but you want to teach Math.
@hello3angel5 жыл бұрын
bigg dogg I think that largely depends on the state you’re wanting to work in and the school you’re applying to + what the requirements are within those entities. It’s possible to teach without a masters even if your undergraduate degree has nothing to do with teaching. Find out by asking schools in the area you are wanting to work in!

How does that whole credit units work? I think that’s what it is called!
@hello3angel5 жыл бұрын
Jeggz Z For the credit units, you have to enroll in a minimum number of units per term. However, if you happen to finish the minimum before the term is over, you can continue on with as many units as you can get through while you’re still enrolled in that term.

Did the degree help you land a good job? The school seems like a degree mill. They basically accept anyone and everyone
@hello3angel5 жыл бұрын
JTundra I did end up landing a job as a math interventionist this school year, although it’s hard to say whether or not my WGU degree helped me land the job or not. What I can say for sure is that it helped me get higher pay. Teaching is a bit unique in that Masters and Masters +30 results in increased salary at many public schools, guaranteed, based on a pre-set salary schedule. At that, it’s worth it for any teacher to complete the program who currently works as a teacher (especially if they can get the degree for less than $3k like I did). Whether or not the degree is worth it to you depends on many factors such as industry-specific details such as the example I provided and much more. I don’t think the fact that they accept everyone is an issue. What matters is that you demonstrate your ability as an individual to complete the program and learn from/apply what the program has to offer you. That being said, a degree may not be what you need in your specific situation. Do the research and you’ll find out what’s best for you and your specific needs and goals.
@kissapoohtaylor5 жыл бұрын
JTundra it is definitely not a degree mill. They honestly don’t accept every one. You have to have taken some college courses to even get accepted and have done pretty well. It’s honestly not like devry, or uop it’s truly a real school with a degree that is not looked at like an online degree. It has a great reputation.

How has everything been since you graduated ?
@hello3angel6 жыл бұрын
Hi Katherine! Things are going well! I originally had a full written response to this, but I am planning to just create a video post in the near future with all of those details. Here is the super short version with the key points. As a result of careful financial planning on my end and WGU's incredible rate, I was able to pay off $2,337.96 for my entire math ed masters degree student loan within a few months of completing the program. In terms of my career, I've actually made a complete diversion and have spent the past 6 months establishing a new career in tech. I considered beginning studies at WGU for computer science or software development, but I've realized that a lot of the skills I need to create web projects for clients can actually be self-taught or attained through free sources (both local and distant). Are you considering a WGU program or have you already started?

@@hello3angel how are things going? I am learning on my own but have been considering Computer Science or Software Engineering @WGU.

Jean Uwumuremyi Hi Jean! Your field is unique in that there are so many routes into the industry. Make sure you look into all of your options and choose what’s the best fit for you. I say this because I am currently taking programming coursework free of charge through a variety of different sources, ranging from courses on sites like Udemy and a local programming program called Launchcode (which includes potential apprenticeship opportunities with local employers). I’d look into what opportunities there are in your area as well as what credentials your prospective employers are seeking (some do indeed require a degree in a related field while some just care about your actual knowledge, skills and portfolio.) Best of luck!

Congratulations! So happy for you! Thank you for sharing your experience! Some people around me seem a little dubious about my choice since I have a similar educational experience. Keishia Louis Do research on your options-read as much as you can and figure out what employers in your field are looking for. If you discover a much more efficient way to achieve your goals, then why choose the more convoluted, wasteful way? All the best to you!

Hi Vivian - thanks for sharing your experience. I am considering WGU North Carolina to achieve B.S. Marketing Management. Do you know where I would locate the commencement location and date calendar?
@hello3angel6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mack! Here is a current URL to a WGU page that lists commencement dates scheduled so far for this year: goo.gl/H3hTik. Even though they're only 2018 dates, they may give you an idea of what to expect later on for when you graduate! All the best! :)
@mackadams32056 жыл бұрын
Hi Vivian - thank you for your response. I am also interested in understanding more about your general experience with WGU such as transfer credits, GPA config, diff between pass/fail university and the grade/GPA based university.
@hello3angel6 жыл бұрын
Mack--The Pass grade I believe translates to 3.0 in GPA (but you'd probably want to double check that info with an enrollment counselor to be sure). I don't have any experience with transfer credits, as I did not transfer any course credit over, so I can't give you any solid information on that. From what I understand, the credits transfer process is case-by-case; they will likely look at course descriptions and when courses were taken to determine if the credit for the courses can be transfered to WGU and used toward your future degree. Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I'll try to answer the best I can!

Ashley Imani No problem, Ashley! Things are going well! I just received my graduation name book in the mail this past week, which was nice. Given that math interventionist and specialist positions are rare in the area I live (and in general, really), I’m just keeping my eyes open and waiting patiently for the right opportunities to open up. In the meantime, I have my feet in both the tech (webdev) and ed worlds and am excited about moving forward on the right path in both! But patience is definitely key when it comes to choosing the best career path opportunities. You don’t want to get stuck in the wrong place, going in the wrong direction (I learned that the hard way from previous rushed decisions related to jobs!)

How many hours do devote every week in order to finish 12 Credits per term???
@hello3angel6 жыл бұрын
sheths Hi! It’s different for everyone and depends on things like what courses you’re taking, how much prior experience you have, etc. My days ranged from full-day studying in the summer (since teachers can opt to not work during that time) to trying to squeeze in study time for a couple hours before work and a sliver of time during lunch break during the school year.
@sheths6 жыл бұрын
vmcmv thanks, i am thinking of getting Degree in BS information technology management. But i am still unsure if i can pull it off. I mean it will be a lot of studying and i am 30+ already.
@hello3angel6 жыл бұрын
sheths I don’t think your age matters so much as the flexibility for your work day + family needs + prior experience. If your current job isn’t too overbearing and your family situation is flexible, you can definitely squeeze in enough study time! And it helps to already know a lot about the subjects you’re learning.

vmcmv true, Honestly I want to finish it in less than 2 years but i guess for that I would have to take too many courses.

Shereal McNeal Awesome career path choices! My coursework was based a lot on what I already knew in my line of work since I had prior experience.
