I was a faculty student mentor in the MSN program for five years and completed an MS in Management through the business school, so I've been on both sides of the equation, so to speak. Students completing extra courses is uncommon, and most students work hard to complete the minimum number of required courses in the allotted time. Moving lots of extra courses into a term is possible but not the norm for most students. WGU is not a degree mill, so be prepared to work. Having prior knowledge of a subject is helpful but not necessary, the course and the requirements are very well laid out and understandable for the student. However, it is hard work, and passing is not guaranteed. Both your faculty student mentor and faculty instructor want to help you and see you succeed. I highly recommend WGU as a both faculty member and a student.

Thank you for giving the faculty perspective!

Do you think this is because its new for many students, that they only require the minimum required? I am interested and applied, and I currently go to SNHU. I'm definitely one of those who will breeze through, I have more time though as a single guy with no kids. Just a full-time job.
@TXMEDRGR4 ай бұрын
@@jlf13766 It all depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put into the problem. As I said, it's not a degree mill and requires actual college-level work.

I’m so happy for you and I’ll be praying for all of your success going forward. If I don’t know nothing else I know that Gods got you. I took a course years ago and completed it. We moved and I was ready to work in the field so I called to get a copy of my license and the person I spoke to was so nasty and rude I never called back. I learned a valuable lesson , nothing can stop what God has for you.

I waited 3 months between MSCIA and MBA. It really helped to take the time off and recharge. The Master's programs are very reasonable in the number of courses. Your instructor will provide a 12 month accelerated schedule since most Master's programs are scheduled for 18-24 months.

Does anyone feel that with all of the people finishing in a few months, people will stop taking it seriously? Especially the MBA. I just don't see how you can learn the material in that timeframe. Just my opinion. I went there and found the classes really good, but the support and customer service was slow and horrible. I seem to be in the minority though!
@krissythewhimsy9 ай бұрын
That hadn't crossed my mind before but I can definitely see the validity of your question. I hope people continue to take it seriously though!
@TXMEDRGR8 ай бұрын
In my experience as both a student mentor and a graduate student, few people are finishing in a few months. The vast majority take 18 months to two years to finish, and many never finish at all. WGU is not a degree mill. I posted a longer statement about the school earlier and provided more information.

Former Course Instructor here. No, they won't stop taking it seriously because of how hard it is to fake your way through. You really have to know what you are doing to pass. The problem you are concerned about has been a focus of the school since it's inception.

Need Advice! I`m 44 years old. I graduated with a Business Degree and have a Masters in Education. I`m teaching for the last 17 yrs, but wanted a career switch into Business/IT Management/Healthcare/Supply Chain career. Should I go straight Competency Based to MBA in IT in WGU or take Competency Fast Track Bachelor`s in Project Management in UMPI or UMASSGlobal? Any suggestion is welcome! Thanks!
@krissythewhimsy5 ай бұрын
In my humble opinion I think the mba in IT from WGU is a good option. Considering you already have a bachelors in business it would expand on that, I would think. Plus you can get some project management certifications too if you wanted to compliment the mba. Just my two cents though. Wishing you the best whichever path you choose

WGU accepted the credits I had from a previous bachelors so that took care of pretty much all the general ed classes I needed, except Calculus I, Discrete Math I & II as well as the Data Structures & Algorithms class ( for bs in computer science). They're actually accredited by the same organization (NWCCU) as the school where I got my first bachelors. So they're definitely legit & a non-proft school.
